Catherine Zeta-Jones Treated For Bipolar Disorder

Catherine Zeta-Jones checked into a rehab facility earlier this month to seek treatment for Bipolar Disorder, her rep has confirmed.
"After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II Disorder," her rep added. "She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films."
The 41-year-old actress spent about five days at the unidentified facility, and a source tells the mag, "There's no question it's been a stressful year. Catherine has had deal with [husband Michael Douglas'] illness and that's been hard. She went in for a few days because she's about to start working, and wanted to make sure she's in top form, which she is." After struggling with throat cancer for nearly six months last year, Douglas announced in January that he was cancer free, and Zeta-Jones has remained by his side throughout the ordeal.

What does Bipolar Disorder has to do with stress?
Why announce her diagnosis? So stupid. Why announce anything?
And to say she stood by him? What are you talking about? She is his wife; he is the father of her children. He certainly would have stood by her.

I didn't know that a serious illness such as Bipolar II Disorder could be treated in five days. She probably could have achieved the same results by going away to some super expensive resort for a week. She probably doesn't even have Bipolar. Just wants our sympathy.
Bipolar is an incurable mental illness.
It can be controlled with Lithium or,more commonly, a cocktail of drugs.
But it can never be cured.
She would not need rehab for being bipolar .
There is some other stuff going on.
at least she recognized she has a medical issue and is being treated. Often people just let it go and get worse. Taking care of someone else who has cancer can be extreamely stressful on the other spouse.
It's called carer's grief.. she was very empathic to his pain and suffering, she tried to be the strong one. had insomnia, disorganized, racing thoughts, anxiety, depressed, grieving at his sudden collapse and feared or wished for death, rather than pain.. for too long.

Good for her. Now it explains why she's stayed with old Douglas - he's been around long enough to understand and help her all these years cuz that is one ugly disease. Too bad ol' Sheen couldn't have just agreed to a mental eval...he'd probably have his career back cuz everybody understands when it's really not your fault. It takes guts to announce something like this so good for Jones. Now that's how you do it, folks. The Lady's got class.
Being bipolar is forever. There is NO cure.
Rehab is for adictions.

I am so happy that Catherine-Zeta Jones is feeling better and has made it public knowledge about her mental illness. My 20 yr. old daughter was diagnosed last yr. with bipolar II. She absolutely refuses the get help, most important take meds. She is in a bad place physically and mentally. I am extremely worried about her well being. She is self destructive. She is a smart girl and very sweet when she wants to be. I am a member of NAMI and trying desperately to get her help. She refuses to keep in touch with me, as everything is my fault. If anyone who reads this, can possibly help my daughter, I would be so grateful. She has been suffering with defiance disorder since the age of 4.
