X17 caught up with The Voice coach Cee Lo Green Monday night at Boa Steakhouse (where we also spotted Playmates the Shannon twins.)

He seemed happy, but lately he's been caught up in a tangled mess on Twitter that we're sure he'd like to forget. Green took to Twitter to bash a Minneapolis, Minn., music critic after she panned his June 16 show. Andrea Swensson called it "lackluster," so Green galled her "gay." He Tweeted:

"I respect your criticism, but be fair! People enjoyed last night! I'm guessing you're gay? And my masculinity offended you? Well f--k you!"

Doesn't sound very respectful to us! Then, Green gave an apology ... though he didn't seem to see why he had to.

"Apologies gay community! What was homophobic about that? I said I was guessing he [was] gay which is fine but its nice to [know] what u think of me."

He soon deleted that from Twitter. Now, the "F*** You" singer has given another explanation ... see what he said after the jump.

Green released a new statement regarding the incident:

"I was being a little outspoken that night, a little outrageous. I always expect people to assume that everything I do is part of my character and sense of humor. I assumed that whoever it was would assume that it was all in good fun. ... I'm one of the most liberal artists that I think you will ever meet, and I pride myself on that. Two of the remaining members that I have on my team on The Voice are proud and outspokenly gay."
