Charlie Sheen was once atop the celebrity totem pole with his hit show Two and a Half Men, when it all seem to come apart in early 2011. In a recent interview with Playboy Magazine, the self-proclaimed "warlock" shed some light on the real reason for his public meltdown:
- "I don’t think it was the show in particular. It was the buildup of all the time I’ve been in the business, the divorces and everything. I started to unravel. I was mad about having to play the game—not that I was playing it well, but I’d been doing it for so long. I finally just said the things I had always been thinking. [laughs] But in the middle of a psychotic break."
The 46-year-old actor went on to explain that despite his frequent claims of "winning," he knew his antics were delusional and fueled by the public:
- "I felt I was winning by finally being able to speak my mind. I felt that was some sort of victory. And then it was fueled by the insane public outpouring of support. Most of it came out of nowhere. It wasn’t planned, it was just random. The tiger blood? I don’t know. It’s just a very dangerous animal. And there’s a tiger in Apocalypse Now, by the way, so maybe there’s a connection there. Adonis DNA? I don’t know what the f*ck that was about. That was just stupid. That went a little far."
Since his ill-fated mishap, Sheen has admitted to his many wrongdoings, cleaned up his act and has a new show, Anger Management, coming this fall. The world will be watching to see if this will be Sheen's triumphant return to comedy or the final nail in his coffin.
