Charlize Is Fighting Breedism

Charlize Theron tee shirt hat sunglasses beach dog jeans bare feet

...of dogs and cats, that is! The South African stunner chose to make a statement on the beaches of Malibu with this very vocal t-shirt about adopting pets. In other news, Ms. Theron is also a strong supporter of gay marriage.

Nothing wrong with using your celeb status for good causes, right?

Right!

Nothing wrong with that!! I'm with her a 100%!!

The shirt is from PETA. It can be purchased on their site for $30. I love the shirt and the message, but I'm not a big fan of PETA themselves.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Buying from a responsible breeder is SMART. Responsible breeders are NOT the reason our shelters are full. Get the REAL truth before you jump on a bandwagon of doctored PETA truth...

Charlize is a psychotic woman who doesn't even belong in America. Screw her and her ideas! GO BACK TO AFRICA, WOMAN!

Breeding apets is killing them? Ridiculous. Buy from a responsible breeder. I had to jump through major hoops to buy my beloved dog. I had to have my home checked, references and answer a questionaire. I was given specific instructions on how to care for my dog. The breeder also does a surprise home check and will take the dog back at any time if I am unable to care for it. I had to sign a very legal contract.

Backyard puppies from riff raff.... are the ones that end up in the pound... and i have done my share and adopted from the pound also.

People should have to go through what I went through to get my dog before they have children... then we wouldn't have riff raff that indescriminately breed children or pets.

Adoption is the only way. What's the point of jumping through hoops to get a pure bread dog when there are thousands of beautiful pure bread dogs available through adoption or A rescue organization. Adoption is the only way to go until we stop euthanizing 10s of thousands of dogs and cats in North America every year. There is no exuse to go through a breeder unless you plan on showing your dog

That's good, adopt a dog or cat, nice thought. Andrew you are such a wanker.

It is good to adopt from a shelter/humanes society. However-if there were no such things as breeders then certain breeds would go extinct. Then even the humane society wouldn't have any half breeds.

i like her!

Good for Charlize! I agree with her shirt 100% except that there are plenty of pure breds in kill shelters too.

well maybe promoting pet adoption is a good cause but how is gay rights a good cause?

Cool, love celebs with a brain.

WOW what an idot. I did like her but now that I know how ignorant she is, i don't think I care for her much now. How any purebred dogs do you see in the shelter? What would we do without breeders and well bred purebred dogs? Think about it..Police Dogs that help with tracking missing persons, drug traffic, bomb detection and SOO much more. People PAY for purebred dogs, dogs that end up in shelter are because of dog buyers not breeders. People get lazy, careless or bored of having a dog so they dump them. Puppy mill breeders are a whole new subject.

lol dawn..don't even get me started. are you serious right now? what would we do without purebred dogs? are you in the kkk too? this is so dumb, you must be joking..

Gee, as soon as she finds a good cause, maybe I'll actually like her. But "gay marriage" and telling people what sorts of pets to adopt are both pretty much looser causes.

Now, when she gets in line for things like opposing child abuse, I'll give a damn what she thinks...

About 30% of dogs in shelters are pure breeds, some even have the papers to "prove" it. People pay lots of money for purebreed dogs, sure, but 30% of those people who shelled out good money for their precious dogs with get tired of their dogs too, as many purebred dogs have health issues if the breeders aren't responsible enough to do genetic testing. I know that there are those responsible breeders out there who take the time to make sure that they aren't overbreeding their dogs and do the genetic testing to insure that the dogs they sell aren't saddled with health issues, but the fact remains that most people here think that it is just fine to kill dogs, purebred or not, once they get tired of them. Plus, keep in mind that the AKC and UKC don't insure that you're getting a "quality" purebreed, they merely license them as being purebreeds.

Cheezy, did you get to see the parents of your dog you got? Did the parents of the dog you got seem healthy and happy? Did you ask whether the mom dog is bred every time she is in heat, as this will kill the mom at a younger age. And I'm assuming that all the hoops you had to jump through were done before the puppy was even born, as that is what most responsible breeders do. Responsible breeders have great reputations so most of the time they have the homes all lined up before the pups are even born. Such was the case with my next door neighbor and his labs. He treated his dogs humanely, bred them humanely and responsibly, and thus was able to get top dollar for his hunting dogs.

Awesome woman!! She got it that one does not buy a friend. There is no such thing as "responsible breeding" as long as each pup takes away a good home for an older one in a kill shelter. As long as tenthousands of pets are killed each year in the USA all breeding should be banned.
