he better not go to jail what he did was wrong but she threw a phone at his head and went crazy on him her injuries were NOT THAT BAD! ok people completly overreacted she had a swollen lip a bump on her head and thats IT! she attacked him then SHE should go to jail she hit him first thats self defence violence in ANY form in unnaceptable if hes going to jail she should be in right beside him just because theres no picture of his injuries for all you know his could be WORSE! although i don't think they were but still rihanna is equally to blame she threw the first punch!

I think the issue is that the media and everyone who is judging does not know the story behind what happened. I am not at all condoning what he did, but there are reasons why the DA's office and police department are doing things that the public is not aware of. Everyone should be given a second chance to make amends for the bad things that they have done. I will not stop listening to his music because the media thinks I should, and until we hear the whole truth we should not judge so harshly, the bible teaches us to forgive, and we should.

To all those who say that he shouldn't be punished because she started it, just think if it was your Sister, Mother, Daughter, Friend who made a snotty comment or threw a cell phone or a set of car keys on to the ground and was hit in the face as punishment for that. People saying that Rihanna did this or that to him, etc are beyond stupid and ignorant. The fact is that Chris had a CHOICE. He did NOT have to beat her and he did. He could have walked away from her. That is the CHOICE that a responsible person would have made. AND, if she had been abusive towards him, he SHOULD have left that relationship. Instead, he made the CHOICE to commit a serious act of violence on her. As such, he DESERVES to go to jail for what he did. Since he is a celebrity, he more likely than not - won't.

To those saying her injuries were not that bad -- you're total MORONS! Did you even LOOK at that picture? That was taken almost right after she got beat. The swelling had no even occurred yet. The bruises had not darkened yet. And we only saw her FACE. Not the alleged BITE MARKS on her body. Anyone defending what he did is SICK. I hope none of you have mothers, sisters, daughters or worse, YOURSELVES that ever have to go through something like that. This is a case that you see over and over and over again.
In this case Rihanna was beaten badly and after a few weeks to heal she goes back to Chris "because she loves him". And then the excuses go on and on...(I don’t know that Rihanna said any of this it is just an example of what is said in actual cases) "he will never do this again"..."He Loves me and he made a mistake"..."I did something that made him mad"... so he hit me.
Let me say this: If a person beats you, threatens you and then talks his or her way back into your life It Will Happen Again. What's to stop it from happening again???? Not ONE Thing. The message to the abuser is: I let you get away with it once…so why not let me get away with it again.
Another really sad thing about Chris and Rihanna is, these two young people are in the public eye and they are looked up to by young fans and if they see this happening the message is: it's okay for it to happen.
It is proven that abuse / beatings can and has turned to murder. It's so sad that it takes such extremes to open eyes. It’s way too late!!
We need to stand up and say: this isn't okay for anyone to abuse me…I love myself enough not to be abused. And if it does happen that we are abused, Do Something about it. Put these abusers in Jail. Make the abuser get help for themselves. The abuser can say I am sorry until they are blue in the face but if they are truly sorry for what they have done and love you enough they will get help.
I really hope that Chris will hold himself accountable for what he did and get the help he needs. I also hope that Rihanna will get the help she needs and she keeps her eyes wide open.

I don't know what actually happened between Chris and Rihanna. MANY things point to injury caused by Chris. Rihanna could have hit Chris and that would be wrong. But the police aren’t trying to arrest Rihanna with a felony.
MY POINT IS: You don't have the right to ABUSE ANYONE. If you abuse you should pay for the crime. I don't care if it's a man or a woman.
Some people seem to take abuse so lightly. If people would take abuse more seriously lives could be saved and abusers could get what they deserve and hopefully the help they need. Remember: LOVE SHOULD NEVER CAUSE BRUSES!!
It has to start some where people so, STAND UP FOR WHATS RIGHT!!

Uh, doomessess-it is up to the state to press charges. Criminal charges are always brought by the state or federal government. Sheesh, educate yourself.
