Chris Brown's Assault Trial Moves Forward After Judge Rejects Request To Dismiss Case

Chris Brown's assault case is moving forward! On Monday, a judge in Washington DC rejected the Grammy-winning singer's request to dismiss the case.

Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos argued the case should be dismissed because prosecutors abused the grand jury process to prepare for trial. Geragos also claimed that prosecutors used the grand jury to "freeze" the testimony of the alleged victim, who says Brown and his bodyguard attacked him outside a DC hotel in October.

Geragos even called the alleged incident, "the most investigated misdemeanor of all time."

While Brown's legal team seemed to think the case had no merit, Judge Patricia Wynn disagreed, ruling that prosecutors had a right to use the grand jury to assess the strength of their case.

"I am persuaded that there was no abuse," Wynn said.

The judge also ordered that Brown and his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, will be tried separately, and will both be decided upon via judge, not jury. Hollosy's trial will start his trial April 17. Brown's trial will begin once Hollosy's ends.

Prosecutors Pushing To Make Chris Brown's Misdemeanor Assault Case A Felony

As if being transported across the United States on a prison bus wasn't bad enough, Chris Brown may now be facing felony charges if prosecutors get their way in his assault trial. What could that mean? Waaaay more jail time than we previously thought!

Prosecutors just filed legal docs explaining that they want to take the case to the grand jury because they may have evidence to support a felony prosecution. As you may know, Brown is facing a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly hitting a man who was trying to take a photo with him outside of the W Hotel in Washington D.C. last October. Prosecutors claim that because the alleged victim's injuries required hospitalization, that could justify a felony.

Brown's attorney Mark Geragos filed legal docs asking that the case be dismissed, arguing that it wasn't appropriate for the marshals to transfer his client because Brown is not a sentenced state prisoner. He will reportedly appear in court on Monday to argue for dismissal.

Brown has been in jail on a no-bail hold since March 14 after getting kicked out of his court-ordered anger-management rehab. If Geragos fails to get the assault charges dropped, the troubled R&B star may be in custody until April 17, when the trial is set to begin.

Chris Brown has been taken into the custody of US Marshals. The 24-year-old felon will be in federal custody until at least Monday, when he will be present at his assault case in Washington DC. If Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos fails to get the assault charges dropped, the pop star may be in custody until April 17, when the trial is set to begin.

"US Marshals have taken singer Chris Brown into custody," NBC News4 tweeted. "He will be brought to DC for trial later this week."

The bus trip, which starts today, could take up to three days because stops the prisoners will be stopping in other cities along the way ti pick up more law breakers along the way.

Previously, Brown was being housed, without bail, in a Los Angeles County jail under a judge's order. Prior to his recent jail stint, the troubled entertainer was staying in a Malibu rehab center after he violated the terms of his probation of his 2009 conviction for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after allegedly hitting a 20-year-old man who was trying to take a picture with him outside the W Hotel in DC.

If convicted, the music man could be sentenced up to four years in prison.

Good thing her bad boy ex is locked up, because who knows what he would do if he saw this!

Karrueche Tran got all dressed up to party with friends at 1OAK in West Hollywood last night, and the model held on tight to a new mystery man as she headed inside the club. She certainly didn't waste any time since dumping Chris Brown!

The sexy brunette reportedly called it quits with Breezy after she discovered texts from other women while visiting him in rehab in February, TMZ reports.

"Karrueche saw Chris' phone during her visit - and it was filled with inappropriate texts from other girls. It was the last straw. Karrueche was especially pissed because she'd been nothing but supportive to Chris throughout his ordeal, even going to court with him," a source told the website.

When our photographers asked the petite beauty about CB, she told us she "supports him regardless." She really knows how to downplay a scandal!

CB is currently in jail awaiting his probation violation hearing after getting kicked out of rehab for "violating internal rules," which allegedly included having an inappropriate relationship with an unidentifiefd female at the facility.

The couple had been on and off for over four years, but let's hope that she finally learned her lesson this time!

BREAKING NEWS - Chris Brown To Remain In Jail For A Month Until Probation Violation Hearing

Mar 17, 2014 03:30 PM

We hope he likes the color orange!

Chris Brown was just shut down after trying to win a release from jail this afternoon, and the judge has opted to keep the Hollywood bad boy in the slammer until his probation violation hearing on April 23.

The hot-tempered music man was arrested last Friday after he was tossed from his anger management rehab for violating three internal rules of the facility, including getting too close to females at the center and refusing to submit to a drug test after an unauthorized visit.

The judge declared that the R&B singer has an "inability to stay out of trouble", and therefore is awaiting the decision by a D.C. jury regarding another criminal assault charge before deciding the crooner's fate. That trial is set for April 17 and should only take a couple of days.

Worst case scenario? He's found to be in violation of his probation stemming from the Rihanna assault case, which would land him in the pokey for up to four years!

Enjoy the big house, Breezy!

Chris Brown Kicked Out Of Rehab, Headed To Jail

Mar 14, 2014 03:21 PM

Dude's got issues.

Chris Brown has been booted from the rehab facility where he has been living for the past four months and is on his way to jail, reports TMZ. He was allegedly arrested in Malibu, via the Lost Hills Sheriff's Department.

The 24-year-old was first ordered into the treatment center for 90 days for anger management therapy. He completed the stint earlier this month, however a judge ordered the "Loyal" singer to stay two extra months while his Washington D.C. assault case is being resolved. In addition, the judge stated that if the felon left prior to the added 60 days, he would have to go to jail immediately -- which is exactly what appears to be happening right now.

Sources are saying that Brown was thrown out of the rehab facility earlier this morning, for violating "internal rules."  While Chris was sent away for his anger issues, the incident did not involve violence or drugs.

Despite being caught having "an inappropriate relationship" with a female worker earlier this month, the publication claims that this is not the reason for his dismissal today.

This isn't the first time the "Forever" crooner has been thrown out of a rehab facility. Previously, he was kicked out of a treatment center for throwing a rock at his mom's car window.  Classy move!

Reportedly, the L.A. County Sheriff's deputies have just picked up Chris and are en route to jail.

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Go directly to jail, Chris Brown.
