Christina's Back (To Basics)!

CAguilera051007_1.jpg

Christina Aguilera CAguilera051007_2.jpg

Girl has been on the road since November and she's finally back in LA! But only for a brief time -- she'll take her show to San Diego on the 21st and then she's off to Asia and Australia until August when maybe she'll finally slow down!

But all this touring seems to have had one positive effect on Xtina -- natural lip gloss instead of that damn blazing red!

Posted by: lyniqua

dis bitch issss so ugly! i hate her screamin azz voice and she is a flop forreal. she wearz to much make-up cuz she ugly and her tan issss sooo fake and she is a fake azz wannabe bitch and iz so rude...dumbazz!

Posted by: Nora

Yes, real women with real talent work hard. She can sing, dance and throw a hell of a performance. Thank god for real women you apprecaite the music.

Posted by: Anonymous

Shes kinda ugly

Posted by: Anonymous

i think christina and jordan are my favourite celeb couple and her voice is great

Posted by: Lionel

I think she is one of the most beautiful women in the world make-up or not.

Posted by: angel

uhmmm i think that "one of the most beautiful woman in the world make up or not" is too much, lets just say: beautiful with a lot of make up.

Posted by: Scarlett

It's not possible to know whether she's "one of the most beautiful women in the world with makeup or not," because she's never seen without makeup at all. IMO she's average looking even with makeup. Whorish does not equal beautiful. And yeah, she can sing okay, but the songs she sing all suck, so.

Posted by: julie

Nothing personal but can anyone say 'Oompa Loompa'?

Posted by: Anonymous

Christina is great. i seen her concert in Manchester and she was amazing people who post nasty comments should get a life and respect these great artists for the hard work they put in to keep US!!! happy :)

Posted by: Diego

OMG She's So Fucking Ugly and a bitch. She hasn't a nice voice, she always is with a lot of makeup.

Fucking horn, fuck you!!
BITCH

Britney is the BEST, Beautifull and Sweet voice!!!

Posted by: rachel

ha britney is the best....my assss. christina is sooo much more talented, her vocals are amaazing. she can hit a g on the whistle register live. Britney cant even hum live dude. the only thing brit is the queen of is lip synching. Christin ais beautiful with and without makeup and yes i have seen her without..and anyway whats wrong with wearing makeup and taking pride in what you look like unlike the frumpy britney spears.

Posted by: nanii

even my grandmother looks better with make up! christina is only voice nothing more!

Posted by: Anonymous

How stupid to compare a really good artist like Christina to a trainwreck like Britney - Britney is not even fit to polish Christina's shoes let alone be in the same category

Posted by: Diego

Fuck you all. Britney it's the best. Who sold 80 million albums?? haha

Xtina fucking horn. She's so fucking ugly!!!

Posted by: Anonymous

She is beautiful and she can actually sing LIVE.

Posted by: nanii

jackass moan! thats christinas singing!

Posted by: gregory

enlever lui toute la tartine de maqillage et regarder comm ell est banale et comm sont piqant est parti lol

CHRISTINA ITS AMAZINGG¡¡ YEAH she i's BACK¡¡¡
NECESITABA SABER DE ELLA ¡¡¡ TOMENLE MAS FOTOS PORFAAAAA

I LOVE XTINAA

Posted by: Anonymous

I'm not a fan of either, but Christina is a talented lady. No denying that.
I can't say the same for Britney.
Christina has a great career a good marriage, a good family life. She's doing great. As for britney well what can I say. Talentless and washed up and finished.

Posted by: Lola

she is great. And mr "you cant compare britney to xtina" shut the fuck up.

Britney is one of the most succesfull wimen in the bis. So if anything, it should be the other way around. Xtina cant compare to britney.

Posted by: Anonymous

Christina is one of the best performers today. She is working very hard and that may be rewarderd with respect.

Posted by: Anonymous

Pardon me, you can't compare Britney to Christina.
Britney should stay home and be a mother to her 2 kids.
Christina is talented and prepared to work her butt off.

Posted by: Anonymous

I agree a 100% with SCARLETT

Posted by: Anonymous

artificial girl! :S

Posted by: Anonymous

I cant beleive that in all of XTINA's topics Britney has to come. I mean Britney has had a rough time but we cant say she's over because she hasnt released a new album. And Xtina, yes she's finished, nobody bought her new album she was just a trend as the backstreet boys and that stuff

Posted by: Anonymous

Respect for Christina indeed

Posted by: ca

she´s damn beautiful !!!!
i love her so much
shes the talented one
shes prettier
she is in love with her man and her art
her new cd back to basics is one of the best albums ive ever heard

Posted by: ~$~

[muzyka.onet.pl/1097,1,0,1,pojedynki.html]please vote on Britney!

Posted by: Sweet Dreams

You can't compare the two. The only reason Christina's last album didn't sell as much records was because it wasn't mainstream and popish. She took a risk with her vocals and music abilities--and thats what real artist do. If you see this woman live in concert you will be BLOWN away, the girl can SANG.
As for TrainWreck, yes, she was ONCE one of the biggest stars in the world. She ONCE upoun a time sold millions of records around the world, but, she aint selling anymore. She ruined her whole career, married the biggest loser in the planet and now is a undesirable crazy person who needs to go home and be a mother to her children. PERIOD.

Posted by: DANIKA

yes xtinas last album did really bad...MY FRIEND TOLD ME IT WAS A WAIST OF MONEY BUYING HER NEW CD..... IT WAS ALSO VOTED THE WORST/BORING CD OF 2007 IN EUROPE....

Posted by: ~$~

omg!!!!!! sorry vote on this link:
www.muzyka.onet.pl/1097,1,0,1,pojedynki.html

Posted by: beans

Christina married a smart Bussiness man. Brinty married a loser back up dancer. hahah!!

Posted by: Anonymous

right

and dont forget that stripped sold more then in the zone !

Posted by: Allison

Sweet Dreams, her album flopped because it sucked and it was mainstream garbage with a modern day twist. lol
P.S- Why is she orange? o.O

Posted by: Anonymous

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

Posted by: MANDY

im sorry xtina is so fake that bitch dont know what she wants in life....FIRST SHE WAS A GENNIE IN A BOTTLE THEN SHE WAS DIRRTY NASTY BITCH LATER SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND KNOW SHE WANTS TO BE MONROE...WTF WHAT A FAKE WHORE....YES SHE HAS A WONDERFULL VOICE BUT I DONT RESPECT HER AT ALL BECAUSE SHE HAS TAKEN BRITNEYS LEFT OVERS FOR EXAMPLE PEPSI, JT, SKETCHERZ, AND THE LIST GOES ON.....>>>>AND HAS ALSO COPY BRITNEY IN EVERY WAY....YES PEOPLE CAN HATE ON BRITNEY ALL THEY WANT BUT DONT FORGET BRITNEY MADE WAY TO THE FEMALE POP SINGERS IN THE LATE 90 NOBODY CARED ABOUT POP MUISC IT WAS ALL ABOUT RAP R&B AND HIP-HOP BUT THEN CAME BRITNEY.... YES I AGREE BRITNEYS PERSONAL LIFE SUCKZ BUT HEY AS LONG AS SHE STILL ROCKZ WHO CARES.... SHE HAS BEEN VOTED THE BEST FEMALE POP ARTIST OF THIS GENERATION...;)

Posted by: Anonymous

she's totally bald. you can see her scalp. the girl needs to lay off on the hair extensions.

Posted by: MANDY

BY THE WAY WHO IS THAT UGLY MONKEY LOOK ALIKE THATS ALWAYS FOLLOWING HER????

Posted by: nik

BITCH HAS NO HAIR AND WHY DOES SHE WEAR SO MUCH MAKEUP..?? THIS BITCH SHOULD BECOME A PORNSTAR BECAUSE NOBODY CARES ABOUT HER ANYMORE. EVERYTIME SHE SINGS SHE SCREAMS LIKE A SICK COW...LMAO!!!!!

Stop comparing Britney to Christina they havent been the same since like 2000. Its like comparing Brit to any other female singer. There is no point. I mean if you compare Brit with Xtina of course Brit wins but you cant compare them. There will probably still be a place for this bitch when Britney comes back. They have very different acts. Britney is a full out performance. Christina is like, well she um, what does she do? i think she shakes her hips alot and makes kissing gestures.

Posted by: Anonymous

True, I mean if i had to compare them Britney is my fav but really they arent the same so stop comapring them its annoying.

Posted by: Julian

well what can I say that would make close minded people understand between real a real talented voice and a same "rhythm" over and over, while xtina can hit various ranges, britney sound like the same song played with a diferent beat. yes britany is beatiful but beauty doesn't tranlate into talent. xtina is as beatiful as britany but it all goes to taste, some people eat mcdonalds and say it is the best burger out there and others prefer in-and- out, a more tastier fresher all meat with no fillers. I'll leave it to you to decide which is which. as stated before beauty doesn't translate into talent and mcdonals doesn't compare to a 100% lean meat burger.

Posted by: XTINA CAN GO MAKE LITTLE MONKEY BABIES WITH HER HAIRY ASS BOYFRIEND

BRITNEY SOLD 80 MILLION ALBUMS. XTINA HASNT COME CLOSE TO THAT. BRITNEY ALSO HAS A STAR ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME. XTINA DOESNT.
SO FUCK U!

Posted by: Anonymous

There are a lot of jealous bitches around here. Christina has more talent in her one tiny finger than any of you have in your entire bodies. She's a good person with actual talent. Get over it, Britney losers...er lovers.

Britney is a joke.

Posted by: Anonymous

Saw her in concert!!!She was amazing!!!!

Thanks for the pics of her X17 :) She's so so so gorgeous!

Posted by: Anonymous

once they were mouseketeers. since the start as young girls with poppy music they were in for the same market. Britney has been marketed with more money. It is unfair to compare the two, because one can actually sing amazing (live) and the other is amazing in lipsinking.

Posted by: Anonymous

They are sucha cute couple.I really hope they stay together because she seems real happy these days.Oh and her bag is so cute,I want it!

Posted by: Anonymous

Shitney sucks! Christina we love you!!!

Posted by: Anonymous

Britney is a better dancer but singing goes to Christina. It's a shame that she wears too much make up and the orange spray tan is also too much.
I guess a "star" should be unreachable and something for us is to gaze at.

Posted by: Anonymous

CHRISTINA!!! I LOVE YOU!!!

Posted by: Anonymous

she has always had a makeup color problem. can she or her make up artist not see? she's always looked cheap because of her bad makeup. it's too bad she can't be more natural.

Posted by: Anonymous

Zamfir is a musician who is a virtuoso of the PAN FLUTE. he has also sold over 100 million records...MORE than Britney...SO WOULD THE GOD DAMN 25 AND UNDER CROWD SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT RECORD SALES!!!! Record sales don't always mean one artist is better than the other, it can but not always...DONNIE OSMOND has sold over 75 million...THINK ABOUT IT!!

Posted by: Anonymous

She is so beautiful I love her down to earth laid back attitude!!!!

THE LEGEND!!
She's a power house man. She has longevity and I cant wait to see what her next album will be like!!
Christina Aguilera, the legendary woman of our generation!!
And isnt she the cutest thing ever? I saw her Disneyland pictures, recently, and her and Jordy looked so sweet together.
Has anyone ever seen her in concert? OMG, she's amazing and she has all age groups at her concert! It's such a thrill...When she sings live, it's real and raw and she gives it everything she has..Onetime, she fell and she just sat there singing, until one of her back-up dancers picked her up off the floor...It was one of those moments where you were like," Awww, she kept on singing anyway...Haha, she's so cool!!

Posted by: ashley

I thought she had a pair of jeans around her neck...hahah

I was like," Whaaaaaatttt?"

I think Jordy lost weight again.

Posted by: Dougie

Man, its so weird seeing Christina other places, besides on stage or in the studio...

TOO WEIRD!!!

She's somewhat private...

Christina prides herself on eating healthy, I've heard.
She likes blueberries because blueberries have anti-oxidents and keep one from aging faster than usual, etc.
She also workouts, while watching Ellen or Oprah.
But, I think it's to Ellen's show..

Anyway, when she was Ellen, she gave Ellen the Worlds Tallest Roses and when people found about them, their website had to be temporarily shut down, because had no clue that roses like that existed!

But, good Lord, those roses are over $200!

I thought it was funny. Ellen was speechless!!

But, Christina is so nice. I think she's totally sweet..

Anyway, Christina is in a league all her own. I dont think anyone else, in her generation, can even compare!

THIS IS A TRUE LEGEND RIGHT HERE!

The Legend took a pause, missed her cue but she did her own thang and blew them away!!!

Christina on 60 Minutes...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did anybody else in Australia see it? For those that didnt, it was cute, they went backstage at the tour with her in Boston and bascially asked her the same questions, although she did word her answers a little differently this time, like about Jordy, the Dirrty video, her father, thoughts on drugs and alchohol, the next phase and at the end i thought she was gonna give away what the 'next inspiration' for the next era would be, but she didnt

"My next hair colour? Um.....well.....hmm...you'll just have to wait and see....but its gonna be different and im so excited"

Oh and she looked cute

Christina Aguilera makes her fans go crazy at concerts!
OMG! I went to her concert at the Hartford Civic Center and I left with my ears ringing!!!!!
I swear!
IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!
I must have took over 67 pictures!!!!!!

I HOPE SHE COMES OUT WITH A DVD of her concert! I'd buy that in a heartbeat!!!

She's so cool! She actually touched a few peoples hands at her concert!

I would have gotten to touch her. But, I got pushed to the side by someone...At least she saw that and winked at me...^%^&&$!!!

I was pissed!!

Posted by: danny

Remember when PINK molested a Christina Aguilera doll in concert!

HAHAHAHA

Dont mess with the Legend Pink!!!

My only hope is that Christina, oneday, pays back the favor...That'll be flaming!

Last night I went out with a couple of friends to this gay club. We were all at a table having a good time when we all hear the words sweet sugar candyman all of a sudden lol we were all like what? It was a remix, a really good one too. Anyways, the cute and funny part of all this was watching everyone actually dance to it but not dancing like you would normally dance to a club banger but kinda swing dancing and some people were even attempting to do the whole jitterbug dancing like she does in the pink dress in the video. Surprisingly everyone was having a good time and just having fun with moves people don't dance to anymore...people were just having fun with it.

This is why I'm glad she released 'Candyman' because it brought something different to the music/club scene. This also shows you that people are willing to accept "different" music, music that might not be that commercial. If a song is fun and catchy people will respond to it...period. Hear that radio?

Posted by: genie

She toured 17 cities in Europe, 41 in America/Canada, and now she added 12 additional dates with a strong possiblity of more being added. She'll end up doing over 70 + shows and she's practically making one million a night = the tour will make roughly 60 -70 million when it's done, not including tour merchandise.

If you want some perspective her lowest grossing date in europe made $718,917 and it was 83% sold out. Her highest grossing made $1,758,203 and it was only 86% sold out. (It was a 20,000 + arena) so you can only imagine all her sold out dates, which is a handful, and even the dates she didn't sell out are still making alot.
Her show in the Philippines has a capacity of 30,000!
Forbes confirmed Christina is worth 60 million in 2006.

After Christina pays the crew, etc.. she will most likely profit more than half of the tour earnings, plus she'll make a profit from her album, digital downloads, radio earnings and her many endorsements. I think she will be approaching a $100 million networth when this era is all said and done.

Christina's newest song to leak soon!!!

NEW YORK (Billboard) - In the latest example of the rock world doing more for humanity than any other industry ever has, Amnesty International's "Instant Karma: The Campaign to Save Darfur" will be released May 25. Ever heard of an oil company doing anything for anybody?

The idea is a good one: having acts cover songs written by John Lennon to bring attention to the Sudanese government-backed genocide going on in its western province of Darfur. This will greatly assist the good work already being done by George Clooney and others trying to focus a distracted planet on its latest nightmare.

Green Day's version of "Working Class Hero" was released last week and has some of Lennon's original vocal on it. Also participating are R.E.M., Corinne Bailey Rae, U2, the Black Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera, Jack Johnson, Snow Patrol and Aerosmith.

Obviously the project has been endorsed by Yoko Ono Lennon and Sean Lennon, and they will donate their publishing royalties as well.

The albums out in less than 2 weeks, so it should leak with Christina's track "Mother" VERY soon.

Lyrics to Christina's song on the album:

Mother, you had me
I never had you
I wanted you, but you didn't want me
So I got to tell you
goodbye, goodbye

Father, you left me
but I never left you
I needed you, but you didn't need me
So I just got to tell you
goodbye, goodbye

Children, don't do what I have done
I couldn't walk so I tried to run
So I got to tell you
goodbye, goodbye

Mama don't go
Daddy come home
(x6)

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! IT'S SO FUNNY TO READ THE POSTS BY THE SAD, DESPERATE, ANGRY BRITNEY FANS. THEIR BITCH IS OVER THE HILL AND THEY JUST CAN'T ACCEPT IT! WHAT IS HER IDEA OF A "COMEBACK" TOUR? LIPSYNCHING WHILE CHEWING GUM AND DANCING IN THE SAME SWEATY, SMELLY, SOILED CLOTHES SHE HAS BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED IN ALL MONTH (WHAT WAS THE WARDROBE BUDGET? $5.00?).

CHRISTINA IS A FEARLESS, TALENTED ARTIST THAT IS NOT HUNG UP ON CD SALES. SHE HAS SAID THAT SHE DOES NOT CARE IF SHE ONLY SELLS ONE CD, SHE REFUSES TO REGURGITATE THE SAME CRAP THAT GETS PLAYED ON THE RADIO. SO TO ALL THE BRITNEY-RETARDS WHO CITE THE LOSER'S CD SALES AS EVIDENCE OF HER "TALENT"...WELL, WHAT CAN I SAY, THERE IS NO HOPE FOR YOU.

YEARS LATER AFTER BRITNEY HAS WASTED ALL HER MONEY ON DRUGS, BOOZE, LOSER EX-HUSBANDS, OR MAYBE DIES OF A DRUG OVERDOSE OR IN A DRUNK DRIVING INCIDENCE, CHRISTINA AGUILERA WILL STILL BE SELLING OUT ARENAS ALL OVER THE WORLD, PUTTING ON A GREAT SHOW FOR THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW GREAT TALENT WHEN THEY HEAR IT.

YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

Christina, Beyonce and Mariah All have 5 Octaves?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL, I know they don't. It's just my friend and his BF tripped me out b/c they THINK they know alot about these singers and their vocal ranges but they don't. My friends BF calls me Christina LOL, and I was acting all Diva and had on these shades. And I said something about christina and four octaves. And they were like "no, Christina has 5 octaves." Now me being the huge Christina fan that I am, would love to believe she has 5 octaves but I know she has four. I replied "no, Christina has four, Mariah has 5(had or whatever)." He was like "nu uh, Mariah, Christina and beyonce all have 5 octaves" I was in the back seat ROLLING. Beyonce 5 octaves? LOL. He was like "You know who has 4 octaves? Kelly Rowland....Do the math." I was just like "Ok" and left it alone.

Now, I'm not claiming to be a vocal expert, but that incident made me feel like I know a good bit lol. Just thought I'd share.

P&G aims for celebrity top spot

US consumer-goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) is to put a major investment behind its first fragrance for American singer Christina Aguilera, with whom it signed a licensing agreement in January this year. The fragrance, called simply Christina Aguilera, will launch globally in the fall.

“This is a big priority for us, our objective is for Christina Aguilera to become the number-one celebrity fragrance… We will invest very strongly behind it,” a P&G spokesperson tells CosmeticNews.

Targeting the 16-35-year-old consumer, the fragrance is an oriental floral with top notes of blackcurrant, a heart of peony and prune and a base of vanilla. It comes in a curvy glass bottle, intended to recall the star’s silhouette, and is embossed with a black lacy design and decorated with a black bow at the neck.

The fragrance will be supported by a print ad campaign featuring Aguilera’s bare back painted with a black lace design. It features the tagline, “Sometimes it’s all you need to wear”.

Women have revealed their top celebrity sex fantasies.
Glamour magazine asked over 1,200 women to reveal their fantasies - reports Metro.

Almost all said they had imagined having sex with a celebrity.

Brad Pitt was the favourite, followed by Johnny Depp and James Bond star Daniel Craig. Timberlake and Irish actor Colin Farrell were popular choices.

The survey also revealed that women fantasise about female celebrities.

Angelina Jolie topped the list, ahead of TV presenter Fearne Cotton and supermodel Kate Moss.

Christina Aguilera, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson and Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross were also mentioned.

A Glamour spokeswoman said: 'When we asked for specifics, we were inundated with pretty racy and graphic responses.

'A number had fantasies about female celebrities. As for the men, the usual Hollywood heart-throbs featured heavily - as well as more, um, eclectic choices.'

According to the poll, 93 per cent of women have fantasies but 57 per cent never reveal them to their partner.

Young Jeezy Talks About Christina Aguilera

Atlanta motivation-rap pioneer Young Jeezy and two of his rhyming buddies, Blood Raw and Slick Pulla, make up USDA (United Streets D-Boys of America). As the posse’s first single—the Christina Aguilera–as-coke metaphor track “White Girl” (listen here)—starts to take off, we asked the guys about their new album, Cold Summer, and their favorite Caucasian females.

Blender: You guys could’ve named any white girl on the single, why Christina Aguilera?
Jeezy: We’re in the hood, everybody want to holler at Christina.
Blood Raw: Everybody.
Jeezy: She’s fine as a mother****er.

Prety damn cool, huh! Everyone wants a piece of Christina Aguilera! And did ya'll guys hear about Scott Stortch nad Christina Aguilera making up?
Christina and Scott obviously had a little riff and she made a song called, F.U.S.S., which basically means *uck You Scott Stortch...Well, anyway, they made up, I guess. He was seen at one of her concerts...There's pictures floating around out there. But, I'm too lazy to find them...But, lots of people appreciate Christina Aguilera!

She's a *ucking legend man!

I seriously hope to God that X17Online stays away from her @$$ because OVEREXPOSURE is not a good thing.

I dont want her to end up like Shitney! Shitney is everywhere and X17ONLINE reports everything about her.

Even if she's doing nothing at all, but coming out of a dance studio!!!

'ello! Shitney gets negative comments because she's a joke to the music industry!

Christina has great, awesome, fans...They are crazy over her!!

X17ONLINE! CHRISTINA AGUILERA IS TOO GOOD FOR YOUR WEBSITE!!!!

Posted by: Soul legend Teddy Pendergrass WANTS Christina TOO! LIKE, OMG! LIKE WHY DO SO MANY MEN WANT HER?!! L-

When did Christina start doing "Beautiful" so well?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-USUD...elated&search=

^ this performance is probably the best I've seen of that song yet. (it's one of her most watched videos on youtube too!) She had a few great performances of it during Stripped but usually she struggled with it. Lately she's been on point though, especially on tour. I'm glad cause of all her songs this is one she'll still be performing when she's old.. lol

But, I can count on my hand how many great performances of "Beautiful" she did during Stripped:

-Letterman
-VH1 Awards
-Ellen
-SNL (both times)
-Grammys
--------------------------

T-Pain says his nickname is "Teddy Pin Her" (or something along those lines) but we talked to the man he was actually inspired by, soul legend Teddy Pendergrass. The original Teddy P. is throwing a huge gala on June 10 in Philadelphia called "Teddy 25 — A Celebration of Life, Hope and Possibilities" in recognition of the car accident that confined him to a wheelchair 25 years ago. At the ceremony, he will be presenting awards to some key people who helped him in his life, such as Whitney Houston and Donald Trump.

Pendergrass said he still keeps his ears open for new music, and while he feels it could be better, there are some artists he enjoys.

"I don't do a lot of radio listening but I do have a rack of about 400 CDs, and every now and then I'll go buy something," he said. "I like Christina Aguilera, I love Mary J. Blige — Mary J. is just so real. I don't care for people who are going to get caught up in vernacular that is beneath how I would talk to my own sister, my mother, my own daughter. I think Jaheim has a wonderful voice. I'm not going to critique his music; I think his voice is superior to the music he chooses. He has a wonderful, wonderful gift. Do I think he gets the recognition [he deserves]? Probably not. I don't keep up with his chart numbers, but when I hear his voice, I like it a lot."

Posted by: humuna hunmuna humuna

Yea, yea, yea...Christina is the best of our time. But, does she have the best rack?
OMG!
I was internet surfing and I saw pictures of her rack, and she's so dark skinned too, and she's pictured with that ultra-super hottie, Maria Lopez-swoon and Eva Longoria! (GO SPURS GO!!!)

Anyway, wow...dont even look at her face, cuz it's got pimples, But, her boobs?
Her boyfriend lets her go out and dress like that?

And in the second picture, she's trying to look like a sex-pot, but, it's not working! JESSICA SIMPSON TRIES WAY TO HARD...Perhaps, she should dedicate to "trying" to be in the spotlight-with a decent album???

Why do Britney and Jessica have to be so sexual?

Why cant they be like Chrisitna Aguilera and just sing and be helluva performers!?

BRITNEY AND JESSICA ARE SO FAKE...I cant stand either one of them!

Both of them are talentless....

Anyway, want to look at the Jessica Simpson pictures, I was talking about..?

GOOD LORD!!

Christina Aguilera at Cameo Nightclub in Miami Beach
That's a Wrap, Baby!

Christina Aguilera and a few thousand of her closest Miami friends celebrated at Cameo nightclub in Miami Beach Saturday night, May 5, with a wrap party after the final South Florida performance of the singer's Back to Basics tour.

Aguilera arrived around 1AM at the South Beach club and was escorted under heavy security to Cameo's stage VIP section where she spent the evening partying with friends and sipping Hennessy cocktails.

Christina danced the night away with her tour's dancers and band members till closing time at 5AM, and made numerous requests for old school hip-hop songs from DJ Irie.

Hilary and Haylie Duff also arrived under very tight security with bodyguards literally holding their hands over the girl's faces to shield them from the paparazzi. Scott Storch also made an appearance.

Aubrey and D. Woods of Danity Kane, and Carmit of The PussyCat Dolls—the two girl groups that open for Aguilera—were also on hand at the new Miami Beach club.

Christina Aguilera's highly successful Back to Basics tour had a strong run in Europe and North America where it literally sold-out some cities in minutes, and now moves on to the Pacific Rim countries for the summer. — Joseph Brown

Back In The Day is really bothering me

Either I’m not on LD enough, or this has never come up.

Her album is 20s 30s & 40s, with a modern twist

Does she not know when these people were born?

1944 Donny Hathaway
1942 Aretha Franklin
1933 James Brown - but started his career in the 50s
1950 Stevie Wonder
1944 Gladys Knight
1947 Minnie Riperton
1941 Otis Redding
1938 Etta James – her career started in the 50s

Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday were the only two who had careers during the 20s 30s & 40s.

Am I missing something?? Did she ever explain this?

i haven´t heard this before, it´s from the show in cologne during the stripped tour...it beats the DVD show from wembley easily, the belt/long note is not as long, but everything else is better and a little d ifferent arranged .
loved the way the "for wowowow YEA YEA YEA YEA" @ 2:05 faded in and out. And the note at the end lol. Sounds like she was having fun with that one.

It's just a great live performance!!

10:33 She doesnt have to explain anything to your sorry ass. The key words are "modern twist". when I listen to that album I hear 30's - early 60's. Get over it sap, you obviously know nothing about music go listen to vaporous singers such as your transparent idol britters.

My Tampa Concert Experience! Christina held my hand!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to the Tampa concert last night and had one of the best nights of my life!!!

There's already video of Christina performing NNB with PCD and tons of reviews about how amazing the show was (and it definitely was amazing!), so I'm mostly just talking about my own personal experience. If you just like reading about Christina and not about fans, then stop reading now.

Boring stuff I know, but CHRISTINA HELD MY HAND!!!

I was sitting in-stage and dressed up as her wearing a Lady Marmalade outfit. She first saw me wave to her when she was on top of the piano and she waved back. So during "Hurt" when she first got up SHE HEADED STRAIGHT FOR ME! She reached down as I reached up and she held my hand for about two or three seconds as she was belting out "Hurt". I looked her right in the eyes and she was almost in a trance she was so into the song. I could literally feel her voice pulsate in my hand! It was a zen-like moment for me. She seriously made me so happy! Those two seconds for her meant a lifetime to me. I got an extreme close up and she was stunningly beautiful! Her eyes are so pretty when you look into them. *DIES!*

I also touched all six members of PCD!!!

Around "Beep" Jessica saw me and came over and said, "What's up sexy mama?!" and touched my hand!!! Then around "I Don't Need A Man" Ashley came by and said, "Hey sexy!" and touched me! I think it was before they did Fever, Carmit was walking in from backstage and saw me and high fived me. ...or "low fived" me since she was on stage and I was in a pit. *lol* Then around the time they did "Show Me What U Got", Melody came over and touched almost everyone in the pit, including me! Then right around "Wait A Minute" Kimberly walked by and gave me a hard smack high five. Her hands were soaking wet, but that made it better for me. I had Kimberly's sweat on my hands! Then after they finished their set and all of them but Nicole left, she immediately walked over to the right side of the stage and pointed right at me, came over and gripped my hand tight and squinted her eyes and said "Oooh, you fine!" and then she left. I was the ONLY fan Nicole touched the entire show since she was always on lead vocals and rarely came by the pits. She did see me earlier on and did a double take, so I guess she remembered to come over after they were done. I touched all six PCD members! I'm the only fan who got all six!!! I absolutely love them, so it was one of the best experiences in my life for me!

Some other tidbits:

I bought 5-Star VIP Package and my seat was in-stage right. We got a free dinner buffet in the VIP Lounge that was all you can eat. They gave us our tickets there. All my friends and the people I met there had really good seats in the first five rows or in-stage.

They took us on backstage tours in groups. The first group was the luckiest as they saw Aubrey and PCD rehearsing. I'm not sure about the second and third groups. I was in the fourth group and all we saw was the kitchen, costumes, dressing room, makeup room, changing room, and where they enter the stage. We got things like, "Here's what Christina is having for dinner. For an appetizer she is having bruschetta and for the main course, a choice of chicken parmesan or salmon." Not sure what she ended up eating. We saw/met her chef, makeup artist, two dancers, and mostly backstage people and security. One of the cooks actually took pictures of me as Lady Marmalade, which seemed odd that a chef wanted my photo. We also got a gift bag with Baby Jane playing cards, postcards, a CA scarf, and some coupons. VIP tickets are also colored black and not blue like the regular ones.

I also met another girl who looked A LOT like Christina Aguilera as Baby Jane. She was extremely nice and we hung out most of the night. I think she got to touch Christina too when she came to the front right of the stage. I have pics with her, but they do not do her justice. In person she was so beautiful!

Sorry my experience was so self-serving, but I was just so excited.

Oh and her hands were really soft and smooth though. I'm not sure why her hands were cold, because it was seriously hot by the stage and those lights were like hot blow dryers! I felt like I was going to melt.. sometimes. All of PCD has really warm sweaty hands!

Ew, she looks fug. I don't understand why people find her pretty. Katharine McPhee is the most beautiful girl in the world. And at least she doesn't have to dress like a slut to get noticed.

Posted by: Anonymous

Christina is beautiful. What the heck are you talking about?
She's classical beauty.
Katherine McPhee is a knockout too, sweetie.
But, I dont think anyone can top Jessica Alba!

Posted by: Julie

Yet, Aguilera still has the oompa loompa look.

At least she doesnt tan from tanning beds or the sun!
Everyone knows how that ages someone quicker and it's just not safe!
No one wants skin cancer!

So, I'll be happy to see her spraying the fake stuff on...I dont care!

At least, she's healthy. So, stfu, Julie!

Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel are so very stunning!
Wow!
I think you're just jealous!

Dancing? yeah right! this woman doesn't know how to dance, moving the ass and legs a little bit, to the sound of music, doesn't really count. And I hate when she screams:/ I saw some videos from her show, it wasn't really good, and she just walked you know:/
I don't like her at all. Oh ans she is So not beautiful

Posted by: hannah

You're so lame.
Why dont you go post about Britney. Since Britney's threads are such a shame.
My brain cells just die from reading posts about her looks, her looks, her clothes and her looks again..

Get off of it already!

Christina could have crooked teeth, raggy hair, three pairs of legs and I'd still love her because of her musical abilities...

Posted by: Anonymous

o yes hannah, we are all so jealous of this:

^^ such an awesome beauty ur idol is!

Britney cant sing, cant act and she relies on her image to get her ahead...Voice synthesizers, lip synching freak!
She's so fake and a basket case!

Now, back to Christina! She is going to sing her songs for a long time to come and years and years and years and years from now..People will be doing cover songs, of her songs, and so on and so forth...

Posted by: paula

Hey ya'll,
I'd like Christina Aguilera too if she had three heads, a nose to her knees, sixteen toes, pointy ears and a huge thumb...hahahahhahaha

The bitch can sing. End of story!

Christina "The Tiger" Aguilera!

Hear her roar!

Like, she's so damn good! I swear I'm right. I swear I knew it all along.

She's legendary status...

I could see my girl on the silver screen! Most def. dude!

Lookout, here comes the Spider Maaaann...I mean, Christinaaaa

(Be sure to check out Spider Man 3!)

Posted by: Anonymous

britney's already a legend. people cover Baby One More Time, Toxic, Stronger, etc many times.

Britney, like Madonna, is a living icon. No where in the world can you go that these two names are not known for good or for bad.

But Christina is still catering to a much smaller audience of people who actually give a shit. And she would have to die before she would be a legend. Sorry2say, but that's the truth. Not saying she should/will die or sumthn...but she's not very iconic at this moment...

truth be told, no one really cares outside of flamboyant xtina fans and a few ppl who like her music.

Posted by: Anonymous

Tobey here, are you nuts? An artist doesnt have to be long gone before they are considered legendary!
I've heard artists called "legends" right before they hit the stage.
For example, Elton John, Patti Labelle, and many others.
But, that's fine. I think I know why you spew your venom. You're a Britney fan. So, naturally, I can understand where the root of your words would be coming from-you ass!

Anyway, Christina has had so many people say such great things about her and after her Grammy Performance of "It's a Mans World", plenty of articles came out calling it a "Legendary Performance!!!"

You dont get those words too often..Especially, when it's said for an aritst under the age of 30!!!!

So, what does that say?

Anyway, Christina has millions of fans all around the world. So, what are you talking about-"few people who like her music."

ARE YOU COO-COO?

Must be!

She's on tour right now, she's doing very well. She's having to add extra tours and plenty have sold out or come quite close too...SO, how is that a few fans?

F.Y.I. ever been to a Christina Aguilera concert?
I have. I followed her outside the U.S. too and when I look around my buddies and I, I see a vast color of people of all races, all genders, all ages, and all sexualities..Even drag queens and biker dudes...No lie!
(Would it be shocking to say that I saw several that could have been in thier 50's, at least? Tell me about it..I was like," Whoa, guys. Check it out. Isnt this f*&%^ bad ass?"

she is the ugliest thing in the wrld!!!what a fug!!!!! she can't sing to save her life. she sings from the throat which is all wrong if you know anything about singing!!!!!!! she is nothing but an ugly dog. (sorry to all the dogs out there!!) i once saw her with make-up off, i had to run away and puke!!! besides she is such a slutty ho!!!!!her dumbass husband better watch out cuz once a ho, always a ho!!!!!! he looks retarded, and ugly!!!!! xtina- your an untalented bitch.... go to hell!!!

Britney isnt a legend. People just like to see her fail. They like the soap box that is Britney.
She's fun to make fun of.
Call it sick. Call it whatever. But, she's not a serious artist. Even Ne-yo said her work ethic sucked and he was thinking about giving Britney's songs to Nicole from the Pussycat dolls.
He also said that they made songs about Kevin. But, than the label said," No more songs about kevin."
And supposedly, there are no songs about Kevin or her personal life.
But, whatev.

Just leave her out of this. She doesnt need to mess up this wonderful page.

Christina!!! I love you babs! You are beautiful no matter what the haters say. I love you girl! You are an inspiration to others and people think you're the cream of the crop.

Jordy is looking good and I'm glad to see that you have forgiven him after that mess that happened a few months ago...

It may not even be true. But, who knows? The guy did end up apologizing.

But, you guys are so cute together. If he makes you happy and vice versa, than stick with the program. Work out your problems because a marriage is work. It's not easy.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR TOUR!

she's sooooooooooooo ugly , go to yr home and do naked sunday with yr loser husband(she said that on ellen show).

WOW! I remember that Grammy's Performance!!! Dude, I had chills running up and down my spine. The way she handled the stage, that's true passion right there. I dont think she was show boating in any way.
I was like,"Dayummmm!!!"

Her vocals were on point and that scream...that screammm...wow...I was blown away! I was stumped! I was mesmerized!!

She truly is a legend! I hope her and Madge collaborate someday because her and Christina have some similiarities...For one, they both like to mix it up-music-wise and look-wise...And Christina is a charm. She's so good at what she does and is very, very, respectable.

Justin Timberlake, her and him are good friends. They support one another. Wouldnt it be cool to see those two together again?

I would blow the roof off my pad!!

um, without Britney, Christina would still be singing in the streets.

Britney kicked off the teen pop-singer sensation with "baby one more time" and YOU know it. After her, all the fellow blonde teens that arrived were merely seen as Britney clones like Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Aguilera. Even Jessica admitted that everyone was trying to force her to be just like Britney who was so sucessful.

Britney just has an "it" quality that seems to captivate everyone's attention for good or for bad. I mean, sure, there are people who hate on Paris, Anna Nicole, Lindsay...etc. But Britney gets 5x the attention in both fandom and hatred that those girls get, similar to the way Madonna was also universally loved or hated back in her beginning days. Britney has sold 140 million records and is still only 25 (she sold that many by the time she was 23 actually, but has taken a long break since then...despite the media constantly following her).

And no, the media is not just following her because of K-Fuck. People always followed Britney during her hiatuses (especially after the Justin/Britney split in 2002) because she was intrigueing to the public. She sol magazines and she was also never too aggressive to put down the lies that people spewed about her. There's a nice-girl quality to Britney that always manages to shine through and no matter what she's done, and names people call her, people could never call her mean or snobby, because she has always been a simple, down-to-earth girl who never revels insucess, even though she has the right to.

Christina, on the other hand, seems very bitchy to me. I'm sorry, maybe I'm just looking at this from the wrong angle, but starting feuds with Mariah Carey...calling Britney out in magazines and also starting feuds with contemporaries like Pink, Beyonce, etc...thats not right..especially since she accused some of them of lip-synching and ate her own words this time when she lip-synced over half of a show she did in New York (yes, even the slow songs).

Christina DOES have a great voice. Christina DOES make good music and of course, with make up, she DOES look good. However, it's a very far cry to say she is an icon or a legend.

An icon is someone who continues to show that she can come back and hold the public's interest. her "it" factor has never faded. Britney, however negative people are to her now, has never had her "it" factor fade, from the Baby One More Time days, to right now where she is the most sought-out celebrity in hollywood. Sure, most people are negative, but they still take the time to post things about her and look at her pictures. And if you say its all because she's a trainwreck, then how come I don't see 760 comments or 1300 (from Perez a few times) under stories about Paris or Lindsay?

Christina definitely deserves to be an icon, but she still hasn't developed a quality to have people care about her even during her hiatuses or breaks. BRitney does.

Christina does try though, to throw herself into the spotlight. All those stories she tells in interviews about Naked Sundays, peeing in a bucket during a tour (and having people watch), etc etc etc,.....if they were spoken by Britney, they would be front-page news across every tabloid, newspaper, and magazine in the Americas and Europe. But, as it was Christina, no one really cared that much.

Posted by: HA HA HA! BRITNEY IS A LOSER!!! LOSER!!!

NOTICE HOW THE PEOPLE WHO DEFEND BRITNEY FAIL TO MENTION THE HEAD-SHAVING, VAGINA-SHOWING, BABY-NEGLECTING, REHAB ENTERING/BOLTING/ENTERING/BOLTING/ENTERING, DRINKING AGAIN, FAILED MARRIAGES, PUBLIC-VOMITING, PROMISCUITY (TWO DIFFERENT GUYS WHILE SHE WAS STILL OFFICIALLY MARRIED; ONE SOLD HER SHAMEFUL DETAILS TO THE TABLOIDS FOR JUST $10,000), FAMILY FEUDS, PUBLIC RIDICULE, ETC.

WHAT'S UP GUYS? ARE YOU TOO ASHAMED OF YOUR GIRL? IF YOU REALLY LOVED HER WOULDN'T YOU LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HER: THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY? BUT I UNDERSTAND: THERE ISN'T ANY GOOD, THERE IS A WHOLE LOT OF BAD, AND THE BITCH IS JUST PLAIN UGLY!

Posted by: Beks

To the idiot who said that when Christina talked about naked Sundays no one "cared that much"? Are you kidding me? How did YOU hear about it, asshole?
I did not see the Helen show, but you want to know how I heard about it? I saw it on the news ticker on CNN. It was also reported on the local news, and I live in a small town. Not to mention that it was news in all the tabloids in the US, Europe and I am sure in other parts.

Nice try jackass.

Posted by: Anonymous

^^ uh beks, I would know because I'm a Christina Aguilera fan and frequent her forums...r-tard. i probably even know some of you if you all go to live daily or some of her other ones...^_^

anywayz, yeah, it was never big news. Meanwhile, Britney Spears walking into a public restroom wear high heels, a dress and sunglasses becomes the front page of tabloids.

do u not see how retarded it is??

and yes, Mr. 10:28, we know Britney isn't perfect, but that's why many fans like her. we know she is a human being and makes mistakes like all of us.

Christina is just much more boring, robotic, and bitchy/snipy than Britney, but I do love her songs, even if B2B DID flop

Posted by: "JOE

Britney dumbass Spears has pics everywhere, because she lives in the public eye and people like to watch like they enjoy trainwrecks. She has zero respect at this point.

I LOVE Chris

You people might be saying Britney is a loser but the fact still remains that Britney has sold over 40 million more records then Christina.

I don't even like Britney but I'm just stating the facts.

"um, without Britney, Christina would still be singing in the streets."

In 1990, Christina first appeared on Star Search. In 1992, she sang the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Pittsburgh Pirates. At 11, she was the youngest person to perform the National Anthem at a major sporting event at the time!!
(Singing on the streets, nah!)
Than in 1993, she was on the Mickey Mouse Club and because she sang so well, parents wrote into the show, thinking that Christina wasnt actually singing!!!! GO FIGURE!!
By 1997, she was performing abroad—a Sagittarian dream come true—from Tokyo to Romania, and always with the singular ambition of getting an album recorded.
Than in 1998, she for Disney's Mulan Soundtrack. A week later, she was signed by RCA!!!!!
(That was in 1998!!! Britney came out in January 1999!)
In 2000, a single came out called "Just be Free, which was unauthorized. Fans were discouraged to buying it. Christina Aguilera wrote:

Dear Friends:

Just Be Free was recorded when I was 14 and 15 years old. At that young age, I made the recordings as a possible stepping stone to a career in music, which is my ultimate passion. They were made just so that I could get my foot in the door of the music business.

I did not intend that the recordings would be widely released, especially after I signed with a major record label. I have not updated or finished the versions recorded in my childhood, and they are being released "as is," although I tried to prevent the release for several years.

The recordings do not in any way reflect my current musical taste and where I am as an artist. The growth and vocal development I experienced as I matured into young adulthood is not reflected in the recordings. The album of new recordings that I intend to release this fall will be the album that truly reflects my artistry, my vision, and my passion. The Just Be Free recordings will hopefully be a footnote in a musical career that I dream will last for many years to come."

Anyway,in 1999, she released her second album. It sold over 8 million copies and she was invited to sing for the President of the United States!
IT EVEN WON HER A GRAMMY!!!
In 2000, she beat out Britney, for "Best New Artist!" 'ELLO!
(Singing in the streets? Nah, this is what she was born to do!!)

"Britney kicked off the teen pop-singer sensation with "baby one more time" and YOU know it."

Actually, The Backstreet Boys kicked it off and N'Sync came around and Britney and N'Sync shared the same record label and so she was able to open up for them. Which got her lots of exposure because N'Sync was so popular.
But, anyway, yougn females were in the business already. For instance, Brandy, Monica and Aaliyah. Even though they were not "pop singers", they were huge in the pop scene and just as young as well.

"After her, all the fellow blonde teens that arrived were merely seen as Britney clones like Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Aguilera."

That's all they had in common, the blonde hair. All of them have different singing capabilites and sound so much different! But, you have to admit, Christina's "Grammy Award winning" and "Best New Artist Award winning" album was better than Jessica's, Mandy's and Britney's!!!!! Come on, ever listen to Britney's self- titled debut album? What were we thinking!?
At least I can spin Christina's album and still feel good about it!!

"Even Jessica admitted that everyone was trying to force her to be just like Britney who was so sucessful."

Wrong! She said Britney and Christina. I watched her "True Hollywood Story" on t.v and her dadager and she herself says even says so...

"Britney just has an "it" quality that seems to captivate everyone's attention for good or for bad."

It's old. I bet teh same people hate on her multiple times because they are too feeble minded to know that the more attention they give her, even negative, the more they are feeding the fire.
(Britney is certainly laughing all the way to the bank.)

Similar to the way Madonna was also universally loved or hated back in her beginning days.

Mo gave a reason for the world to hate her. She messed with religion and she didnt care if she was offending other Countries, in which she was to be on tour...Plus, she tool sexuality to a whole new level. That, in those times, was something new and different.

"And no, the media is not just following her because of K-Fuck. People always followed Britney during her hiatuses (especially after the Justin/Britney split in 2002) because she was intrigueing to the public."

I wouldnt say intriguing because Britney never did anything intriguing. I would just say that the little folks liked to poke fun of her. They think it's cool.
I highly doubt "the older and more mature crowd", likes to waste thier time on Britney.

"She sold magazines and she was also never too aggressive to put down the lies that people spewed about her."

Hahahhaha, dont make me laugh!!!
In any case, she loves the publicity! But, only if it's benefiting to her and doesnt ruin the image in which she really is.
She's not stupid.
And, yes, she certainly is a habitual liar.

"There's a nice-girl quality to Britney that always manages to shine through and no matter what she's done, and names people call her, people could never call her mean or snobby, because she has always been a simple, down-to-earth girl who never revels insucess, even though she has the right to."

Oh wow, you sure do have blinders on. You're talking about a woman who didnt even care that Kevin had a pregnant girlfriend. She wanted to move in on him. And yes, she did know about Shar. She claims that Kevin's friends told her that they were having problems.
She didnt care.
She even *ucked a black guy, by the name of Columbus Short, who was one of her back-up dancers. HE WAS MARRIED!!!
After 'razzi pictures came out, of them kissing and her throwing him a very, very, very, expensive birthday bash, Columbus Short and his wife eventually split!!!
NICE?!
I think not.
She's an adultress who got married, for 55 hours, because she said that it "was a joke."
Please, go take your opinions about Britney somewhere else. You're so blind, def, and dumb...

"Christina, on the other hand, seems very bitchy to me. I'm sorry, maybe I'm just looking at this from the wrong angle, but starting feuds with Mariah Carey...calling Britney out in magazines and also starting feuds with contemporaries like Pink, Beyonce, etc...thats not right.."

RUMORS! Those have all been confirmed to be lies! Hello! Mariah Carey was interviewed on 95.5 and they brought up this subject and she said that she had heard about it too. But, it was a rumor. She said she thinks the world of Christina Aguilera and that tehy have never spoken, not once.
Plus, Beyonce and Christina have dennied that there was a feud between them as well. Heck, they were even pictured together and those pictures are floating around someplace too. THERE IS NO FEUD, NEVER HAS BEEN A FEUD...Christina was even invited to one of Jay-Z's parties!
I dont know about Pink. I think Pink started that feud. She likes the attention. Which is why she molested a Christina look-alike doll on stage...END OF STORY!
(Mary J. Blige has also said kind things about Christina Aguilera. She's met her and has had a chance to speak with her. I heard she thinks she's a sweetheart.)

"she lip-synced over half of a show she did in New York (yes, even the slow songs)."

She's lipped parts. But, to see her lip, it's like," Wow, OMG! I can tell when she lip synchs because she hardly ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, lip synchs!!!!!!!!!!
Singing live, night after night, it can make one loose thier voice a bit.
So, if she wants to protect her chords and have a singing career for years to come, she's going to have to take lip-once in a blue moon...Even Mariah Carey has lipped before. It's common.
It's jsut that Britney never fails to lip synch!!

"Christina DOES have a great voice. Christina DOES make good music and of course, with make up, she DOES look good. However, it's a very far cry to say she is an icon or a legend."

She gives legendary performances. She's a legend. End of Story!

"An icon is someone who continues to show that she can come back and hold the public's interest. her "it" factor has never faded."

Christina is on a World tour right now. Those tours are selling out and she even has to add more cities. What does that say?

"Britney, however negative people are to her now, has never had her "it" factor fade, from the Baby One More Time days, to right now where she is the most sought-out celebrity in hollywood. Sure, most people are negative, but they still take the time to post things about her and look at her pictures. And if you say its all because she's a trainwreck, then how come I don't see 760 comments or 1300 (from Perez a few times) under stories about Paris or Lindsay? "

Britney gets no respect. And the reason Britney gets more comments, is because the people that dislike her, waste thier times on her. If they would just let it go, I wonder hwo many positive comments she would get on her page!!

Look at this page!! You see more positive comments, than you do negative because it's Christina!
She's a much respected artist because she does her thing and does it well.
You dont see Christina Aguilera, selling her public life and personal videos-while on break- to stay in the public eye like Britney did.
All Christina has to do is keep a healthy balance, between work and trying to keep a private life, in order to remain content.
Britney doesnt know how to do that!

Anyway, Christina is bona-fide, first class, brother!
She is the best of our generation.
It doesnt matter if other artists get more attention than she does.
She will be putting out albums for years to come and she certainly is an icon!!! People admire her work ethic. They are drawn to her because she's a monster on stage! She gives me chills brother! She's captivating, alluring, her personality rocks, she helps with charities and gets down to it on a personal level, she can hold conversations, her interviews are much mor eentertaining to read, she's intellectual, she's brilliant, she's a strong person, she's cute and funny and she has a good head on her shoulders...PEOPLE LOVE HER! AND PEOPLE LOVE CHRISTINA AGUILERA-ALL OVER THE WORLD...She's positive energy!!!

"Christina definitely deserves to be an icon, but she still hasn't developed a quality to have people care about her even during her hiatuses or breaks."

Maybe, Christina knows how to lay low. She does want as much as a private life, okay? Being in the spotlight, every damn day, is probably stressful. Most celebs would do anything to make them go away....HAHAHA...Besides, I think the shutterbugs respect some celebs more than they do others...Although, I've seen 'razzi pictures of Christina being swarmed by fans and shutterbugs alike and I'm like," Whooooaaaa! Back off people!"

"Christina does try though, to throw herself into the spotlight. All those stories she tells in interviews about Naked Sundays, peeing in a bucket during a tour (and having people watch), etc etc etc,.....if they were spoken by Britney, they would be front-page news across every tabloid, newspaper, and magazine in the Americas and Europe. But, as it was Christina, no one really cared that much."

Because she's a smart business woman. Her career is much more respectable. When she says thing like that, people think," Wow, having to pee in a bucket must be difficult to do-in front of people. But, if that's what she has to do. That's what she has to do. Afterall, Fergie, from the Black Eyed Peas had to pee in her pants, on stage....So, peeing in a bucket...much better than peeing in your pants, I'd say.
FYI, Naked Sundays got footage. Heck, it was even in my newspaper! SO, go figure.
I think it's a good idea! It should be a National Holiday!

Back to Basics is the third full-length English studio album from American pop singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera. The album was released on August 15, 2006 in the United States and Canada, on August 9, 2006 in Japan, and on August 12 in Australia. The album was released in Europe on several dates, starting at the 9th of August 2006, and ending on the 22nd of August 2006.[1] It was leaked to the internet two weeks before the actual release date. The album features what Aguilera describes as "a throwback to the 20s, 30s, and 40s-style jazz, blues, and feel-good soul music, but with a modern twist."[2] The album has sold over 3.8 (AND COUNTING)million copies worldwide Her album has been nominated for the Best Pop Vocal Album Grammy Award, and the lead single from the album, "Ain't No Other Man", won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy Award. The album, thus far, has yielded three commercial singles: "Ain't No Other Man", "Hurt", "Candyman".

Christina Aguilera has transformed her image and musical style with every album. With the new Back to Basics album, she asked herself what music inspired her to sing and dance, thus coming up with a concept album[citation needed] emulating that. Aguilera has described her newest album as an urban soul record combining elements of 1920s, '30s and '40s blues and jazz with modern day influences.[2] The record finds her working with hip-hop producers DJ Premier, Rich Harrison, Kwamé and Mark Ronson for the first time. It also finds her working with Linda Perry, who worked with Aguilera on Stripped (2002). Also in May 2006 Pepsi released an international commercial in which Aguilera performs a clip from the song "Here to Stay", from the album, alongside Lebanese singer Elissa (who sings her then-current single "Bastanak"). Back to Basics is a double-disc album. The first disc is a throwback album with elements of old blues and jazz with a modern day twist. The first disc is also more "beat-driven" (as Aguilera stated on the "Back to Basics" CD enhanced video). The second disc is songs Aguilera did with Linda Perry. "There are no samples - It's all live music", Aguilera said of the second disc.[3] The last track on the second disc is a documentary that shows a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album.

The dilemma Christina Aguilera will have to deal with in the early years of her career will be the constant comparisons to teeny-bop acts like Britney Spears and NSync. What a shame, because this girl is already miles ahead and can sing with the best of them! She has sung with blues legend B.B. King and will soon duet with Etta James, which shows her maturity! If you checked out her live rendition of "At Last" on VH1's "Men Strike Back", you know what I mean.
Her debut CD shows us a glimmer of the potential superstar that she is already becoming. Forget "Genie In A Bottle" and "What A Girl Wants" and jump directly to "Love For All Seasons", "Blessed" and "Obvious". These songs show her more mature side, while the more popluar songs were put on there for the younger crowd (flocking to the record stores!). "So Emotional" and "Somebody's Somebody" are also great uptempo tracks that will probably go unnoticed.
It must be difficult for an artist as talented as Aguilera to debut, as you must balance the importance of the audience you are needing to target in order to sell albums while still be true to your own talent and capabilities. I think Christina and her label did the best they could to balance the two, but it is obvious that she is far better than this album depicts. Its understandable that her debut CD was littered with some bubblegum ditties to attract a younger audience, but SHE GREW on her next album, Stripped and Back to Basics is simply genius. This is all a sign of the artist that she will become-for years to come.

I want to talk about Christina's debut album !! She had definitely exceeded my expectations back then. It was not a sugary bubblegum pop filled album like that other Mouse-keteer, but an album with R&B songs mixed with a little pop and packed with a lot of soul! She had introduced us to a voice that has a lot of depth and showcased it extremely well for someone her age.

Christina has teamed up with some great songwriters (Diane Warren, etc...) and producers to bring us these catchy tunes and powerful inspirational ballads. "I Turn to You" is amazing, as well as "Reflection", which clearly shows the girl can sing. "What a Girl Wants", "Obvious," one of my favorites "Come on Over (All I Want is You)", and "Love Will Find a Way" are a little more upbeat, as well as "Genie in a Bottle", which will stay in your heads even after the songs are over. On all ballads Christina's voice plays center stage to show off her great range.

"Genie in a Bottle" had firmly established her as one of pop music brightest star. As of right now she has already proving her longevity in the music industry so whatever she wished for from the Genie had already been granted.
I LOVE YOU CHRISITNA AGUILERA! YOU WERE THE BOMB SINCE DAY ONE!!!!

I THINK GENIE IN THE BOTTLE WAS ONE OF CHRISTINAS BETTER CDS. SINCE THAT WAS HER FIRST CD AND SHE WAS VERY YOUNG I FEEL THAT SHE EXPRESSED HER TRUE TALENT. HER VOICE IS SO POWERFUL. THERE'S LOTS OF GOOD SONGS ON IT AND MY FAVORITE SONG ON THAT ALBUM IS "I TURN TO YOU". THAT SONG HAS A WAY OF MAKING SOMEONES BAD DAY TURN INTO A GOOD DAY. I THINK CHRISTINA WILL GET BETTER AND BETTER, WITH EVERY ALBUM RELEASE.
HER STRIPPED ALBUM WAS JUST AS GOOD AND BACK TO BASICS, TAKES THE CAKE.
IT SHOWS HER GROWTH AND HER WILLNGNESS TO EXPLORE AND EXPERIMENT AND IN A SENSE, SHE REALLY DOES REMIND ME OF A YOUNG MADGE.
CHRISTINA, SHE'S AN INSPIRATION TO HER MILLIONS OF FANS.
I'M SO GLAD SHE'S MAKING THE MUSIC SHE DOES.
SHE TOUCHES MY LIFE AND SPEAKS TO MY SOUL...HER SONGS UPLIFT ME, EMPOWER ME AND GIVE ME STRENGTH...I JUST LOVE CANDYMAN, NOW THAT'S ANOTHER FEEL GOOD SONG RIGHT NOW.
I JUST LOVE HER.
SHE'S SO GREAT AT WHAT SHE DOES. I CANT IMAGINE HER BEING BORN TO DO ANYTHING ELSE!

Back to Basics, Christina Aguilera's first disc in four years, refines and clarifies the--let's call it "sexy"--aura surrounding this platinum firebrand. Here, the best belter in a class that counts Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears on its roll call has turned her attention to love songs: the supercharged and ubiquitous first single "Ain't No Other Man," for one, and the hushed stunner "Save Me from Myself" for another. That doesn't mean she's foresworn being nasty, though. Dive deep into this set, past the gorgeous crackle that frames the old-school jazz-, blues-, and soul-inspired tracks on the first disc, and you'll reach a playful and familiar raunch; "Candyman" celebrates a "one-stop shop" who "makes the panties drop" to a boogie-woogie beat, and "Nasty Naughty Boy" sends out a heated, big-beated invitation to "sip on my champagne/Cause I'm gonna give you a little taste/Of the sugar below my waist." Thoughtful listeners should snap out of their fascination with Xtina's undiminished yet newly un-tramp-like sexuality, though, because what they'll really want to focus on throughout these 22 tracks is the honest-to-God artistry. While the rock producer Linda Perry helps disc two pop in interesting and unexpected ways (check the muffled blues number "I Got Trouble" and "Mercy on Me," an obvious nod to Fiona Apple), DJ Premier, a mainstay on Jay-Z and Nas projects, pipes a batch of aural high-fives into the nostalgia-bitten first disc (the deep-down funk of "Back in the Day," the strut-strut early hip-hop sound of "Still Dirrty"). Their nudges aside, though, Back to Basics is all Aguilera's baby--she executive-produced, and she's found herself artistically. Nobody would argue, in fact, if she swiveled around the chorus to "Ain't No Other Man," written for her husband, and aimed it at herself: "You got soul, you got class/You got style, you're bada--." --Tammy La

How refreshing to see someone as young as Christina paying respect and tribute to the soul/jazz/blues legends of yesteryear (even though she appears to be confused about the eras. Most of the songs has influences from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and not just the 20s, 30s, and 40s as she claimed). This confusion does not hurt the beauty of this cd. In fact, it allows Christina to offer something to everyone.

On Disc One, Christina joins forces with DJ Premier, Rich Harrison, Kwame, Mark Ronson, Charles Roane, Big Tank and Tony Reyes & Ben H. Allen for an exciting world of R&B, Soul, Hip Hop and some Blues. The songs are either uptempo or midtempo, but Christina commands every lyric and melody. From the churchy "Makes Me Wanna Pray" to the edgy "Here To Stay", Christina holds your attention. Even when she is all about "me" like on interludes F.U.S.S and Intro (Back to Basic), Christina comes across as being true with her emotions. The only song that suffers is "Thank You" which I find rather pointless.

On Disc Two, the show is all about Christina and Linda Perry (who is becoming one of the most important female writers/producers of all time). Songs like the Andrew Sisters-inspired "Candyman", the sexy "Nasty Naughty Boy, and the bluesy "I Got Trouble" are all throwbacks to another era of time. While songs like the pop ballad "Hurt" and the churchy "Mercy On Me" has a modern day twist. Christina really sells these songs but the biggest surprise is the sweet folky "Save Me From Myself" and the 50s pop style "The Right Man". In both songs, you can tell Christina is singing from the heart and to her new husband.

Disc One and Disc Two are actually two seperate albums because they are both very different in styles, but the quality of both cds are high level. The growth from the last cd is clear because the one thing I also noticed is while 'Stripped' concentrated on sound and structure, 'B2B' focus on songs and structures (two totally different concepts). This is also the cd in which Christina leaves behind Britney, Jessica, Lindsey and that crew and join Alicia and Beyonce as the most talented pop female artists of their generation. Wow! She has come a long way from her "Genie" days, let's hope she can continue to grow.

Highlights from the cd:
Back In the Day
Slow Down Baby
Without You
Still Dirrty
Candyman
Hurt
Mercy On Me
Save me From Myself
The Right Man

Its usually not a good sign when an artist delivers a two-disc record. Christina Aguilera's new record Back to Basics shows an adventurous ambition to produce two albums with different sounds but a common thematic arc. Though both discs have some excellent tracks, this could have been one amazing album instead of just two solid ones with some judicious editing. What you will find though, is great samples, huge hooks, and a fresh sound incorporating both old and new into a cohesive whole.

Disc One, produced by the impressive DJ Premier, is laden with great samples and entangling hooks. "Intro(Back to Basics)" is a funk filled preamble paying homage to "the soulsingers...jazzmakers and groundbreakers...who paved the way." Christina wastes no time in showing her vocal range on the piano and gospel choir driven track "Makes Me Wanna Pray." The excellent "Back in the Day" has a great retro sound and namechecks Coltrane and the "originators and innovators who...remain my inspiration every day." The trumpets bust out on the energetic, rhythmic "Ain't No Other Man," while "Slow Down Baby" is a sultry brush-off of a potential suitor, "You never gonna get it from me, because I'm with someone." "Oh Mother" is the most modern song on Disc One, lacing an elegant, emotional vocal on the abuse she and her mother suffered over a simple drum track. "Still Dirrty" is a mash of great samples with Christina's assurance that under the Jean Harlow glam she is still a freak. "Thank You(Dedication to Fans)" is a ode to the audience that, while very sweet, is an unnecessary addition.

Disc Two has a very different sound thanks to the tonal discord of the intro track, "Enter the Circus." The synth-heavy "Welcome" is a dark track that doesn't quite mesh with its upbeat lyrics. "Candyman" jumps with life from its opening bars, with a fun swing sound and layered harmonies. Sounding as if they came straight off a 40-year old vinyl disc, the delightfully risque "Nasty Naughty Boy," which takes sexual innuendo to a new level, and the soft and seductive "I Got Trouble" make for a great pairing. "Hurt" is a typical Christina ballad, and a likely huge hit, but one whose tone and sound are out of place on this record. The passionate "Mercy on Me" is a great stand alone track that sounds more 60s than jazz, and the sparse acoustic guitar of "Save Me From Myself" is a nice change of pace, but the keyboard-dominated "The Right Man" closes with a bit of a whimper rather than a bang. Linda Perry has co-written and produced some amazing tracks in her career, but that success leads her to veer wildly from sound to sound in search of a big single. Perry's ADD method of producing delivers three great tracks, but it's extremely ironic that DJ Premier's disc has an overall more cohesive sound with more commercial potential than Perry's.

This is a lot of music to absorb, and despite some tracks better suited to earlier albums or the recycle bin, this is one impressive collection of songs. Aguilera has an ability to reinvent herself from disc to disc, maintaining a freshness few artists have been able to retain. Her voice is as dominating as always, but she is smart enough to tone it down where necessary. Some track editing could have been used here, but there is more than enough to entertain, and fans will be able to mix and match their favorites into one amazing album. Recommended.

You can tell how much Christina Aguilera has grown in regards to her style when it comes to this new release. The old school, jazz/soul type music Christina used for inspiration in Back to Basics is sexy, sultry, and very catchy, but it still is very modern in flavor. ...In my opinion, there are only two or three songs that really capture the 40's, 50's, and 60's flair. I really love this CD, though - fans of hers shouldn't be disappointed, though some newer ones may have trouble adjusting to her new, maturer sound.

I am usually a classic rock listener, but was attracted to the sexy jazzy sound of disc two. I discovered that there is a song on this entire album to suit ANY mood I am in. Her voice is so seductive and her style is a class act. This album was worth every penny!

these two cd's are unbelievably amazing! i thought stripped was pretty good, but after coming back with this cd i was blown away. i think christina does an awesome job doing the whole 50's thing and she can definitely pull it off. this cd is pretty much made for any one that likes music from the 50's with a little bit of pop and hip hop added. some of the slow songs on this cd give me chills, and no other artist out there can compete with her voice. her voice is so powerful. i think this cd is so cute, and by this cd you can tell that she is very much in love with her husband, she talks about him in alot of the songs. overall this cd is fabulous

In my opinion, Christina Aguilera never had a bad album (a bad PROPER album, anyway; I never heard Mi Riflejo or My Kind of Christmas, so I can't comment on them). But each album seemed to be a tad better than the last. She took a very long break after her second album Stripped (probably to get married and concentrate on the first stages of THAT), but she still managed to make a modest comeback with Back to Basics.

This album is a double-disc because, I guess, Christina wanted to make up for lost time between album releases (or maybe she realized that separating the work is sometimes best; after all, Stripped clocked in at 78 minutes). But each disc seems like it takes its own form, as disc one is primarily produced by DJ Premier, while Linda Perry handles disc two. This accounts for why there is a more hip-hop-flavored feel to the first disc, upon which produces such highlights as "Ain't No Other Man" and "Without You".

Disc 2, which appears to follow a circus theme, would probably have to be the stronger of the discs though. Not that Disc 1 is bad, but I just have more favorites on the second disc. One song that immediately jumps out is "I Got Trouble" (the song that was used at the beginning and end of the "Ain't No Other Man" video), and for some reason I was surprised to learn that that song isn't a cover. And Christina also shows her sensual side on her latest single "Candyman", which is immediately followed by the even more detailed "Nasty Naughty Boy".

This two-disc set isn't without its flaws, however. I don't know if I'd say there are any truly "bad" songs, but there ARE a few weak selections. For example, "Back In the Day" features too much sampling and not enough singing. "Still Dirrty" doesn't go anywhere, and while it's unfortunate the way Christina's father treated her and her mother, I'm not sure it's necessary to mention that on every album (see "Oh Mother"). Finally, the necessary dedication to fans, "Thank You", is mostly an unstructured collection of fan-made voicemail messages; in addition, a song like that would fit better at the end of the final disc, not the first disc.

But there are enough good songs to overshadow the questionable ones; and anyway, 4 errors out of a 23-song album is definitely no cause for alarm. Back to Basics just shows that Christina is still continuing her exceptional skills

I've always been a fan of Christina and her voice.
I was a fan when she did bubbly pop.
I was a fan when she was dirrty and nasty.
I'm still a fan when she is going 'Back To Basics.'
She is always re-inventing herself and I love that about her.
This album is very innovative, beautiful and spectacular.

I'm still a fan when she is going 'Back To Basics.'
She is always re-inventing herself and I love that about her.
This album is very innovative, beautiful and spectacular.

What an album! Christina has a bon vide winner, her vocals are top notch smooth, playful and sexy, while retaining a classyness about them. If i could only take a couple of discs with me on trip or something like that, I'd take this recording along with me. It sounds like Christina is having fun on this album and asks us the fans to join along. The liner notes are filled with photos that are just wonderful. the photos are throwbacks to the 50's, 60's or 40's and are tastefully taken with a dash of sexy playfulness that is just Christina. I have no shame, What A Lovely Woman she is and one of the best singer i've heard in awhile.

Let me just say that the two lead singles "Ain't No Other Man" and "Candyman" are the best produced tracks on this album. There is also a single called "Hurt" that I do not recommend. This album irritates me. How on earth could anyone sit through more than an hour of Christina's extremely ill-utilized voice. She "yells" her songs, and her pitch and register are just a bit too much for my ears. I am sorry if Christina fans are offended, but her voice needs to be toned down - a LOT.

That said, this was one glorious mess of over-singing and shouting the lyrics out, all wrapped up in a faux 1920s jazz package - which made it even more revolting. You can put a hog in a wedding dress but you can't drag it to church. Christina doing jazz and blues is like Macaulay Culkin doing the salsa - unbelievable and idiotic. What irked me most is the beautiful packaging that RCA decided to give this set - the booklet sure is mighty fine - but I think what they did here was to take a few samples of some old jazz music, and reverse-engineer it on the premise of "How Badly can we rework this with Aguilera's voice thrown in?". It certainly sounds that way.

And on "Hurt", which is already the fifteenth billion song Christina has written about familial abuse and hurt and pain and feelings, she comes across as one of these extremely vain people (and not in an Anastasia Beaverhausen sort of way) who have to travel back to their childhood repeatedly so they can dig up a few "issues" to sing about.

The most shocking thing here is a track where Christina actually sings over telephone messages left by her fans, where they thank her for eradicating poverty, homelessness and saving the world. One boy even thanks her for preventing him from committing suicide. I'm not kidding. And Aguilera's oohing and aahing over these recordings is a bit tasteful - not to mention bizarre.

Which is an excellent way to describe this hideous beast of an album. I cannot think of any expletives to use here - its that terrible. Her voice is nasal and overwrought, the song compositions are weak, the lyrics are just SO high-school, and once you listen up to Track 4 I am not sure how many of you would actually want to sit through this. Granted, you have a pretty woman fronting the mike, but if that was the criteria I bought records by, I would even condone Antonella Barba. Aguilera on the other hand has done much better before, and more solid work on her CDs like "Mi Reflejo" (which was such a beautiful Spanish CD).

I think that she's still young and can afford to experiment, but the poor quality of music here does not quite absolve her of the crimes committed no this record. The one track I keep reaching for if I decide to amuse myself with this record is "I Got Trouble" which is supposed to sound VERY old-school and muffled, but ends up sounding gimmicky and very wanna-be. The persona Aguilera radiates very much reminds me of Madonna during her Vogue days when she had that whole Dick Tracy/Marilyn Monroe thing going. I didn't like it then and I sure as hell don't like it now.

The sad part about this, is that when I compare this to Jessica Simpson's much maligned new album "A Public Affair", Jessica's album actually stands out, because its straight-forward, honest-to-god pop music that I know I will be listening to a year from now.

Final Thoughts - Do yourself a favor and listen to every track on this CD before you buy it. Though the first single was good, the album is predominantly bad, and I'm not just saying that. If you're looking for really good pop music with a twist, I would suggest picking up Jojo's "The High Road" (Best Female Album of 2006, in my opinion), and Jessica Simpsons' "A Public Affair" (the reviews were bad, but the music is actually good).

Boooooooooooooo, stfu, you are such a fart for comparing Jessica Simpson's CD to Christina Aguilera's CD.
Hvent you forgotten, Jessica Simpson's "Public Affair" flopped bad. Real bad!
Please, dont even go there. Christina is in a league of her own!
For instane, when Christina Aguilera released her garish, sexually charged sophomore effort, Stripped, in 2002, it seemed that she pushed her obsessions with tweaking taboos just a little too far. Sure, she could still sing, but her music was now driven entirely by skeletal club grooves and explicit carnality. It was a bold break from the teenybopper persona she was desperate to shed, but it was overcorrective steering, taking her a little bit too far down the road toward a grotesque caricature, particularly in her ugly video for the album's lead single, "Dirrty." All this grandstanding provoked an intense reaction, not just among fans but among her collaborators, who also wondered if Christina was going a little too far, but she managed to keep from sinking largely on the strength of the ballad "Beautiful," an empowering statement of self-love that managed to dampen "Dirrty"'s impact even if it didn't erase it. It also set the stage for the next phase of her career: as an outright old-fashioned diva, much like Madonna or Cher. Smartly, she followed this path for her third album, the sprawling, deliriously entertaining double-disc Back to Basics.

The title alone on Back to Basics is an allusion that perhaps Christina herself thinks she might have gone a little too far with Stripped; she stops short of offering an apology -- she even has a song where she proclaims she's "Still Dirrty" -- but this album's emphasis on songs and singing, along with the fixation with the big-band era, does suggest that Aguilera is ready to be once again seen as a world-class vocalist. Nevertheless, Back to Basics also makes clear that Stripped, for as flawed as it is, was also a necessary artistic move for Christina: she needed to get that out of her system in order to create her own style, one that is self-consciously stylized, stylish, and sexy. As the endless series of pinup photos in the album's booklet illustrates, Christina is obsessed with earning credibility through association: she dresses up as a big-band vamp and drops allusions to Etta James, Billie Holiday, and Aretha Franklin, all under the assumption that listeners will think of Ms. Aguilera as the heir to that throne. While she may have the vocal chops to pull it off to a certain extent, Back to Basics doesn't quite feel like it belongs to the classic soul and R&B tradition, even if the second disc is designed to be an old-fashioned jazzy R&B album, complete with bluesy torch songs and occasionally live instrumentation. Aguilera's instincts are too modern to make the album sound classic. She remains stubbornly autobiographical -- she disses departed producer Scott Storch on "F.U.S.S.," again addresses the abuse inflicted on her mother by her father, spends much of the album detailing her love for her new husband, Jordan, and always filters everything through a very personal filter that makes this seem like a journal entry à la Alanis Morissette (even "Thank You," subtitled as her dedication to her fans, isn't about the fans; it's about how Christina has inspired them, saved their life, or kept them going while stationed in Iraq -- all stories recounted in the voicemail that runs throughout the track). Her lyrics remain bluntly direct, particularly when she talks about sex: "Candyman" makes her cherry pop and her panties drop, while the "Nasty Naughty Boy" will receive "a little taste of the sugar below my waist." That combined with the slick, precise computerized production means that even when Christina tries to sound classic, she winds up sounding like the present.

But that's what's good about Back to Basics -- even though she strives hard to be a classic soul singer here, she can't help but sound like herself, and surely there is no other big-budget pop album in 2006 that bears the stamp of its auteur so clearly. As she did on Stripped, she has gotten to indulge herself here, but where she was more concerned with sound than structure last time around, on Back to Basics she spends just as much time on song and structure, often coming up with strong, memorable ballads and dance tunes on both the dance-oriented first disc and the slow-burning second. Of course, she reveals more than she intended through her indulgence. Try as she may to sound like a classic singer from the '40s, she really seems to have learned all of her moves from Madonna in Dick Tracy; whether she's shaking her hips to a canned brass section or breathing heavily into a microphone, every move seems to have been copped from Breathless Mahoney -- and that's not just on the campily retro "Candyman" (which sounds like a rewrite of "Hanky Panky"), but it's also true on the deliberately modern numbers like "Ain't No Other Man," whose stabs of sampled brass sound straight out of early-'90s jazz-rap. When Aguilera does stray from the Madonna template here, it's to wander into Fiona Apple territory on the second disc -- with its loping piano, "Mercy on Me" is a dead ringer for anything from When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King. There are hints of a couple other artists here -- some echoes of Norah Jones on the torch songs -- but the fusion of Madonna and Fiona Apple is so inspired and unexpected, it sounds original because nobody else would have thought of it, or put it together in such wildly weird ways as Christina does here. Sure, Back to Basics is way too long at two discs and some of it doesn't work quite as well as the rest, but it has far more hits than misses and it holds together as an artistic statement (certainly more so than any other album made by one of her teen pop peers). It may be all about style, it may be a little crass and self-centered, but it's also catchy, exciting, and unique. It's an album to build a career upon, which would be a remarkable achievement by any measure, but coming after the near career suicide of Stripped, it's all the more impressive.

Christina is one of my favorite young female singers, and she leaves no doubt as to why with her latest release. "Hurt" was the song that caught my attention to her new release, and the album as a whole isn't too bad. Regardless of some of her odd off-stage behavior, the girl does know how to sing, and this album is an example of her ability to be non-conventional as well. This album isn't full of the typical pop or pseudo-hip hop style that her other albums were, but rather a compilation of sentimental ballads and old-time cabaret-like tracks. If you're looking for something a little different from Christina, this album might be something you look into. I think "Stripped" is still her best album, but this one is different, thus interesting enough to be worth the cash you fork out for it.

I got this album last November with the anticipation of listening to Christina's new sound. When I heard her first single "Ain'T no Other Man", I knew I have to get this album. I totally love her new look...the 1940s old hollywood glamour. And her album stands out from the rest...it sounds very vintage. Very 40s, 50s, and 60s. And that's what I love about Christina. I respect her for that and her current vision. My fav ones are Understand, Still Dirrty, Candyman, Back in The Day, Here To Stay, On Our Way, and of course...Ain't No Other Man. It's such a shame that two songs never went #1. They should #1. Those songs are awesome! People need to praise her for being unique and creative instead of the people who are not! Christina shouldn't be compared to Britney. They're totally different. Christina has a much more stable, less publicized life than Britney. And these days, it seems like Christina is much more like a lady. Christina is such an inspiration to me. Now, I want to go for the old hollywood glamour look with blonde hair!

I'm glad Miss X came to her senses and stopped feeling like she had to compete with all of the no talent tramps posing as female vocalists in music today. This the first album of hers that I think really showcases her true vocal talent, not just the 'Star Search' vibrato that everyone else overuses but the control that a seasoned artist with nothing to prove skillfully employs.

I bought Christina's first album when I was a freshman in high school. At the time I loved it. Of course, I haven't listened to it in years. But, even then I felt her cd was much better than the other poptarts of that time.

Stripped was much better and gave an insight into Ms. Aguilera. I just listened to it again, and it still holds up.

Back to Basics is even better. I love the way she is able to show that she has matured, but, is still a sexual being. She is not apologizing for her behaviour. Still Dirrty is one of my favorites on the album.

It is so nice to see REAL talent. I hate that there has always been this competition between her and -- well, you know who -- I wouldn't dare to even utter her name in the same breath as Christina's. They are not even in the same league. Just because they happned to come out at the same time and were both in that famous little club, they get compared to one another. Well, there is no comparison. Ms. Aguilera is pure talent. And that other girl -- well, you know.

First off, I am a 46-white Southern male who is as nerdy as a doorknob. I am in the least demographical market that would be an Aguilera fan.

That said, I bought this album based on the song "Hurt' and reviews on Amazon that likened her work to Fiona Apple and other bluesy, jazzy singers. I wasn't disappointed. Christina's vocals are unbelievable. Her control is more fine than the pre-druggy Whitney Houston. She also has firmly planted herself in first place among the other kid signers, i.e. Britney and that ilk.

Christina is still a kid, but she has shown a maturity on this album, I think. I love the look of the album is that of an old RCA record and there's even the vinyl groove scratches on some of the songs. I've played the second disc more since I bought Back to Basics and I've been pleased. The opening song, Enter the Circus, is beautiful. Candyman is fun (even as an old stodgy, I smile at her "Panty dropping" line. Of course, Hurt is the highlight. It showcases her talent with a minimal amount of music. She carries the tune by herself.

I am somewhat surprised that I like this album so much. But she conveys an earlier era of music and it's fun. Sounds like something from the 1930s Harlem clubs. This album really propels Christina Aguilera into the higher echelon of all singers

I did not start out liking Christina Aguilera, but have grown to really appreciate her as an artist. I admire the fact that she is not afraid to try new things. I believe that any artist who does not venture outside the comfort zone will not last long; as the world is full of one hit wonders. I also admire the fact that she produces and writes her own material, something many bubble gum princesses do not do.
This album was addictive. I enjoyed CD 1 which samples classics by Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight. Her voice is clear, strong, and vibrant. I enjoyed the tracks and have listened to this first CD many times over, and am constantly finding new and interesting aspects of it. I was only disappointed with "Thank You" which I found schmaltzy.
CD 2 is a wonderful departure from the norm for Christina's previous albums. I enjoyed this for the various styles covered.
"Candy Man" reminded me of The Andrew Sisters, yet with Christina's "dirty" spin.
"I Got Trouble" was an interesting exercise is production methods. I enjoyed the old scratchy record quality to the song. It reminds me of Billie Holiday.
This is the type of CD that you'll listen to from start to finish, and love it!

Aguilera's album is simply amazing. She matured so much in the last few years, it's almost unbeliavable. I already liked her music very much in her "Dirrty" phase, but now she is even stronger. The lyrics are much softer and sweeter, although the album still has an edge. I like every single track in this album, except that I am a little tired of listening to "Hurt." My personal faves:
*Back in the Day
*F.U.S.S
*I Got Trouble
*Here to Stay
*Mercy on Me
*Still Dirrty
Candyman

Christina is undoubtedly one of the absolute best (if not the best) vocalists to come along in recent years. She's never failed to awe audiences with her incredible range and provocative wardrobe. She's cosistently been outspoken and confident, regardless of her style.

Love her or hate her, one thing is for certain: this album is spectacular. The introduction, "Intro (Back To Basics)", reels the listener in as the beat winds up and a classic male voice announces the entertainer of the evening, that being the lovely X-tina... er... Baby Jane, as she is now referred to.

Right off the bat, Christina's new image fits her beautifully. She pulls off that glamorous ruby lips and big blonde curls look with flying colors.

On to the music. All the music on this two-disc set is tinged with classic horn arrangements, sexy and bold lyrics, and the occasional gospel choir. Altogether, there are 22 tracks, though several of them are shortened for a more dramatic effect. Initially, I was entirely in love with the second disc, which is a little more ballad-heavy and includes my favorite song from the album, "Candyman". The track is a throwback to ladies groups of the 20's and 30's, with tight three-part harmonies and of course many of Christina's trademark melodic runs and vocal flips thrown in. But after repeated listens, the first disc, which is a little more modern and contemporary with its hip-hop beats, is winning me over.

"Understand", the fifth track of disc one, is a personal favorite of mine. Christina successfully merges class, sensitivity, old-fashioned vocals and beats that make you want to doll yourself up like Marilyn Monroe. Another standout is "Without You", which is probably the best vocal track of the entire album. Christina performs so well on this track, my jaw dropped many times as I listened. "Still Dirrty" reaffirms Christina's fans that she'll always have a little bit of X-tina in her, but she reminds with class and not trash. "Thank You (Dedication To Fans...)" is impressively produced, with voicemail recordings of fans wishes and thanks, cleverly set to the beat of the song. However, this track seems a tad self-indulgent, and while it's enjoyable, a little goes a long way. But that is the only questionable moment on the album.

"Nasty Naughty Boy" is another highlight, done big-band style with sexiness to spare. Christina continues to have fun seducing the listener with her sensual analogies. "I Got Trouble" is a fantastic number recorded with a classic microphone, giving Christina's voice a scratchy quality reminiscent of old records. "Save Me From Myself" is the quietest of all the tunes, but one of the most moving and sensitive. It's nice to hear a softer side of Christina.

The album art is beautiful and playful, and contains many shots of Christina in various settings, often with intense makeup while posing in dramatic positions.

I would love to see our new Baby Jane continue to make music like this. But this is Christina, and she'll surely venture down another avenue in the future. In the meantime, get this musical candy while you can from a young lady who finally knows herself and has embraced her sweetness (while still holding onto that inner 'dirrt').

christina aguilera is arguably one of the best vocalists of our time. This girl effortlessly belts out keys that can make the hairs on your arm stand up(not the annoying shrill dog whistle that mariah constantly unnecessarily throws in songs)Her talent can not be denied...her choices..well..lol
Ms. Aguilera has definitely come a long way from the bubblegum sound of her first cd(which she is forgiven for). I really fell in love with her on Stripped, which in my opinion, was a brutally personal album. Her vocal were incredible, and all of her songs felt raw and uncensored. So i was definitely counting down the days to her new release.
i won't say i don't like Back 2 Basics, but it was a bit of a disappointment. i understand and even appreciate her decision to do something different, but a whole "vintage" cd got a little tiring after awhile. At times (Slow Down Baby, Makes Me Wanna Pray) christina seemed to let the great music eclipse her awesome voice and that was a bit of a let down. She also had a few filler songs(Still Dirty) that seemed like an afterthought.
Christina shines when plays the diva that she is...she absolutely delivers on Ain't No Other Man(think Amerie's One Thing...but by someone that can sing)and her mournful wails on Hurt are enough to make you forgive her for whatever she did. My favorite, and by far the standout track is Save Me From Myself, where Christina's gentle voice intertwines beautifully with the wistful strings of the violoin and guitar. This track is actually one of my favortie songs EVER.
So while the album had material that could have been left on the cutting floor, it also offers truly beautiful music.

Back To Basics" is a gimmicky, derivative, boring, random collection of pop music until the second disc of this double CD, when Christina Aguilera teams with producer Linda Perry to record her best work. Ever. Does it rip off the anger and drama of Fiona Apple? Yep. But it's a start.

You've already heard the best track off the first disc in "Ain't No Other Man." The other 11 tracks are entirely forgettable. Use the disc as a coaster.

But after a circus-music intro, the second disc delivers a chaotic but passionate nine songs. An orchestra accompanies several tracks, including "Welcome," an angry rant about the emotional scars of teen stardom. "Candyman" is a raunchy, playful riff on 1950s hit "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." "Nasty Naughty Boy" and "I Got Trouble" are bluesy lounge tunes. "The Right Man" drips with absent-daddy melodrama and "Mercy On Me" is a low-rent version of Apple's "Criminal."

And then..."Save Me From Myself." Tucked near the very end, here is Aguilera, at her highest octive, with a sweet, mournful ballad about her new husband, so pure you could rock a baby to it. It's eerie how effective this track is: When Aguilera's voice trails into a mock cry, it should seem shameless, but her vocal command, and the background violins, fold it into the mood of the song.

It's a new side to the singer: Control. For once Aguilera doesn't seem impressed with her own voice. She's content to channel it, breathlessly, into music beyond her sexualized image..

I grew up listening to Bessie Smith, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, and the Motown singers (no, I'm not that old, I was just the guy dressed like a punk rocker, and liking the Sex Pistols, but actually loving classic Jazz, Blues, and R&B best after being introduced to them by a guy I became friendly with who was a music teacher). It is fairly remarkable to see this diminutive woman and pop phenom known for her slightly raunchy Hip-Hop songs show her true range. From the first time I heard Aguilera several years ago I thought: "This woman really has a set of pipes, I wonder if she'll ever begin to explore her full range." Well she has, and the result is wonderful. I have a feeling it must have been infuriating for her to be in the shadow of that Spears chick, the fellow Mouseketeer, who was all package but really didn't have the voice or style to sing anything real in any idiom. Aguilera pays homage to her antecedents; the numbers stylized versions, some deliberately recorded to simulate the kind of "in the can" sound you encounter when you hear an old Tin Pan Alley classic. Still, these songs remain hers. I am quite astounded. I doubt this album will appeal to many people much over forty. I think even octogenarians would be rocking in their walkers, if they gave it a chance, but that probably won't happen. What I hope is that Aguilera's fan base in their teens and early twenties will be inspired to listen to songs like Dinah Washington's version of "Cry Me a River" or Billie Holiday's "Mean To Me" and know where Aguilera is really coming from. Aguilera is a student of the Masters who came before her (she lays this out so well in the Hip-Hop styled intro), yet she can also deliver the goods. It gives me real hope. Not everything in the music business is, in the end, prepackaged, and there are those out there still carrying the torch and passing it on. Kudos to Aguilera! She may be a tiny woman, but she has a giant voice, and a real spirit.

9:52, no way. Christina is too good to be on x17online. She doesnt even need to be here because this is cheap dirt.
She is just way too good to be associated with a x17online because it's Britney central.
Let Britney have x17online, all to herself. They seem to love her since they post everything about her and all the stupid people talk crap abot her and they wonder why x17online keeps on using her.
It's because she gets a lot of attention...negative...But, the magic word is attention.
Christina doesnt need x17online or perezhilton or anything like that.
She has fans alla round the world who respect her more than stupid x17online...x17online should feel so grateful to even have Christina Aguilera up in here.
She, by far, gets "BETTER POSTS!!!"
You go to Britney's comments and you'll certainly loose a few brain cells.
And it's always the same thing: britney is a bad mom, britney and those boots, britney and that wig, britney lip synchs, britney is fat and ugly, britney is terrible...yada, yada, yada...I'm ashamed Christina has to be here on x17online....The place of cheap trash talkers...Unless, Christina comes around and the intelligent posts come about...guess they thought it was important enough to post...They saw it was Christina!

I hate it when people talk smack about Christina Aguilera. And, for the most part, it's Britney Spears fans.
I wonder what the average age of a Britney fan is because based on her posts, here, it seems as if there are a whole bunch of stupid teenagers who like to stop by for a bit and stir up the loyal Britney fans.(Must get off on it. Haha!)
It's cool though. Everyone is allowed to thier opinion.
Anyway, I have just enjoyed reading these Christina Aguilera posts.
It brought back some intelligent conversation!! And those links, wow, thanks for posting! I downloading some of them and now I can have them for my XTINA collection!
Anyway, let me talk about the album since that is what some people are actually doing.
Ok, first off, everybody was expecting great things from this album as it took Christina a long time to come up with the goods. For the most part, it was worth the wait. We got a double album out of it, with a new style, but still with Christina's amazing vocals and some catchy songs.
There is no doubt, this girl is a bonafide diva and can really sing. But some of the tracks on Back To Basics don't show how amazing her voice truly is. They're good tracks, but they lack Christina's powerful vocals.
Most of the album is fabulous - I prefer CD2 over CD1, whereas most people I know like CD1 better. I think I just like the style of CD2 a little bit better.(So, I somewhat agree with 9:44 pm)
Anyway, with over 22 tracks on 2 CDs, it is very hard to pinpoint just one favourite. I can't do it, so I'll just name my overall favourites:

CD1
01. Intro (Back To Basics)
Despite only being an intro, this is one of the album's best tracks! I actually wish it was a full track, it would be ace. The music is amazing, I absolutely love it. People talk at the beginning saying how there will be no other Christina Aguilera, and then Christina starts singing about being inspired by older artists. A very funky beginning to the album.
03. Back In The Day
I initally didn't like this song, but it quickly grew on me. This song sees Christina singing about all the artists who have inspired her to make music and namechecks some classic singers and bands. The chorus is really catchy too.
05. Understand
This is definitely one of my favourites, I know that. It's really really catchy, about a relationship. Christina sings that she made the guy believe he didn't understand her. The vocoded vocals are really cute, and the song has amazing lyrics.
08. F.U.S.S.
Another shorter track, this is still amazing. Everybody knows who Christina is singing about, and she sings about making songs from Stripped in it - mentioning "Underappreciated" "Loving Me 4 Me" and "Walk Away." It's a simple little track, with great music.
11. Still Dirrty
A homage to "Dirrty" from the Stripped album, this is very cool. It starts off so strangely, that the first time I put it on, I skipped to the next track. But the song is really catchy and fun once you get further into it. Christina says that even though she's married, she hasn't lost her sexiness.

CD2
01. Enter The Circus
Another intro/interlude of sorts, even though this doesn't have Christina singing on it, I can't help but like it. I can't put my finger on what I like about it. A man sings about the circus, saying it's the most amazing show on earth. The song is reminiscent of the circus, and the song creeps me out. "Things aren't always what they seem to be" - says the man in the song. The end freaks me out.
02. Welcome
This is another of my favourites. The song is only 2:42, it should be longer. Christina reiterates the previous track, singing some of the lyrics that the man was saying. The music in this track is AMAZING, I adore it. The song is really catchy too, and has a certain appeal.
03. Candyman
This song is extremely cute, about a desirable man. It has some men singing on it, talking about Tarzan swinging on vines and drinking vodka. Christina sings about a man who is attractive. Very very catchy and cute.
04. Nasty Naughty Boy
Without a doubt, the sauciest song on the album - this song relies on the piano and jazzy instruments. Christina sings in a low sexy voice, calling her man a naughty boy and saying she's going to spank him. The song has hilarious lyrics, but somehow Christina makes them work without sounding stupid. (Ya'll guys remember when she spanked Perez Hilton! He had to talk about that forever and a day!)
06. Hurt
Christina's next single, this song is the kind of ballad you've come to expect from her. Heartfelt, amazing and piano-tinged, this song is reminiscent of "Beautiful" but with a different subject matter. Christina sings about hurting her man, and how sorry she is. This song should be a hit.
09. The Right Man
This is one of the first songs I heard from the album, and I loved it instantly. Christina sings about getting married, but not having a father to walk down her aisle. This song is very sad, but ends on a positive note, saying that one day when her daughter gets married, she'll know that Christina found the right man.

My overall favourites are "Intro (Back To Basics)" "Understand" "F.U.S.S." "Welcome" and "The Right Man."

Another thing I like is the quality of the album booklet - it's fantastic! It's glossy, high-quality and in full colour. It includes all the lyrics to all the songs, and loads of gorgeous pictures of Christina.

This CD is brilliant, but it just doesn't live up to Stripped. It's definitely a good album, but I think I like Stripped a little better...Dont get mad Christina fans.....I dont want anyone here jumping down my throat...

Hey 10:18, I kind of agree with you.
I am a HUGE Christina fan and bought the CD on the day it was released. While I like it, I'm not blown away by it. Disc one is...uhm...I just have to say that after the versatility and incredible range she showed on Stripped, this was a bit of a let down. I would have prefered one disk chock full of great music. Instead, this release has two discs with 6 tracks each, and a lot of what feels like "filler" material. (In a way, Scott Stortch was right!)
For example, the intro on disc 2 which comes out of nowhere and is rather bizarre. Oh well, I didn't buy the CD to listen to circus music, and including 3 minutes of it doesn't make sense. There's also a random song about Christina's disregard for someone she worked with on Stripped...Ok, it's Scott Stortch. But, they made up. But, anyway, why include this on a release? There are a few great tunes, but also a lot that don't contribute to the CD. And the music is more one-dimensional, with almost every song about finding her "man". Stripped had songs about love but also heartbreak, lust, strength, confidence, power, etc. Back to Basics is a little too basic for me. I wish she had put out one dynamite disk instead of two mediocre ones..

My first post!!! I know how this works. Let's see, 10:24 p.m. You wrote," Stripped had songs about love but also heartbreak, lust, strength, confidence, power, etc. Back to Basics is a little too basic for me."
But, here's my take on it: I am a 40 something married mom of 3 - not the typical Christina fan, at least I dont think. But, I've heard that she has fans of all ages. But, in any case, this album "Back to Basics" has gotten my attention and earned my respect for her unbelievable talent. Her smoky, sultry vocals are reminiscent of Aretha or Etta James but she also has the energy and theatricality of Bette Midler in a lot of the numbers. This album is perfect. And it's not so basic afterall. She happens to showcase her range from sweet love songs to songs of pain and longing. Also, of finding "the right man" and how her and her mother are going to get through a difficult situation-abuse.
Then there are the just plain fun songs like Candyman. I also like the way she has bits in some of the songs referring to her past reputation. There is even one song "Still Dirty" that boldly addresses that issue. But, I haven't found a song that I didnt like and I've listened to both discs several times. So, kudos to Christina for this amazing album. I know we'll see more great things from her in the future.

i just don't understand. i listened to this cd over and over again and it is excellent!!!! Britney, Jessica, and the rest of "pretty pop princesses" need to step back!!! Christina has the look, the voice, and the personality of the year!!! also for people who says that Christina is ugly without make-up, lets see how you look without make-up.
some of you are such a joke. saying that thier grandmothers look better than christina!
go back to the britney board, where you can loose even more brain cells because you're not good enough to be in here.
so, get real!!! you better recognize talent when it's in your face!!!
because christina aguilera bratman is the mother _ucking legend biznatches!

you better believe it...

It becomes apparent that some of these messages are not motivated by constructive musicial critisim, but more so by silly remarks about image. What's up with that people? Cant you all be a bit more educated?
As someone who was raised on the greats and have respect for most of todays artists, I do not understand the attempts to debunk this album so ludicrously. Most artists today dont even have the audacity to attempt a 'career suicide' like this and show their true appreciation for music. Look at Britney, she's playing it safe by doing what she does everytimes she drops an album-sticking to fun pop, club songs and what not.
She's so sticking within the modern day mainframe, trying to wok with great producers who have had successful hits ain the past and never seem to step outside of their comfort zone or the business framework.
This is not to discredit anyone like Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston or Janet Jackson, but the truth of the matter is as great a potental they once had, it hasnt really shone of their recent efforts. What you get instead is true potental concealed behind a marketing fueled attempt to stay in the game by playing off the dirty south hip hop style and simple R&B productions designed to make every song a radio hit. I think some of you play into their past legacy and continute to support them like they are willing to push the envelope, when the truth is they dont.
As for Christina, I did not like her until I heard this album. A artist who I really did not give enough attention to flipped me upside down with this latest album. Now some of you might say she is a pop artists and doesnt have the ability to do other kinds of music, and to that I say maybe you didnt study the graduating class of Mickey Mouse enough. Out of everyone from there she has shown the most potental and the most creative talent. It certainly helps this album is back by musicial genuises like Linda Perry (whose second cd, while all over the place, should be given credit for the insame amount of work required to construct and record songs with the kind of arrangement and equipment she did use), DJ Premier (who while overseeing the first cd, did only FIVE TRACKS...), and Mark Ronson. While all of them deserve credit for being the minds behind the music, this is Christina's album and her style comes to shine on here. As her past albums have shown, she is not the soft singing type and likes to sing upward with the beat. While it can be said on a few songs she might oversing where she doesnt need to, she shows some constraint on several songs, the second cd especially. The pop influce she brings on the 90s style hip hop and R&B songs on here does work, and actually sounds refreshing. As for the name dropping, she has said before she would like to see in the same vein as them and wants a legacy like Madonna. While this is a admirable career goal, only time will tell if she merely did this to gain the attention of some or if she feels she can really pusure this goal with multi-platinum status under her belt from her earlier compromises. But as it stands, this is a refreshing stroke of musicial genius that invokes the past while maintaining a present day flavor, all while bearing her "Dirty" style.

right on 10:36! i am so glad that christina is able to explore musical directions. is there anyone else right now that can pull off this sound right now, and pull it off with this level of greatness? we all know that she blows britney and jessica out of the water and has ever since she started. she is the new "voice" and what a voice it is. she has the pipes to sing whatever she wants and so far in her career has been singing what she wants. she has taken charge of her career and is putting out records that are her own and do not really reek of studio meddling. her lead single of aint no other man is phenomenal. it is a hip shaker and a great time all around. for me the whole album is sung beautifully but if i had to pick favorites my other two would be candy man and still dirty, and nasty naughty boy. candy man i can listen to everyday about 20 times a day. its catchy its hilarious and its fun, what more can you ask for in a song. still dirty is great cause she is sending a message that she is not 2 dimensional. she can be Dirrrty if she wants, but she has done that and could do it again if she wanted. nasty naughty boy is just what it says it is. nasty! i love her sexuality and i love that the music and not just the vocals make that song. which is another positive aspect of the album. the music and instrumentation sounds great even though it is inspired from the blues era. she makes it fit right into now. listen to this record it takes a couple of listens to really get into it but once she gets a hold of you she really does not let go. you dont want her to either because this album delivers and the ride is one that keeps you coming back for more.

Christina is a legend!

Oy!

Posted by: after three months...

Jessica Alba is hot.
Ok, now that I got that out of the way..

After blowing away the minds of millions with her multi-faceted sophomore smash "Stripped", Christina Aguilera came back with "Back To Basics". Unlike her previous album "Stripped" -which had Christina broadening her horizons by combining elements of Rock, Gospel, R&B-Soul & Latin with her infectious Pop- "Back To Basics" is a captivating 2-disc set that pays tribute to the jazz-soul-pop music of the 20's, 30's & 40's that influenced Christina in her youth.

With big-name producers DJ Premier, Rich Harrison, Kwame and Mark Ronson on the production board of the album's first disc, Christina croons, wails and coos over slick, jazzy old-school grooves and smartly chosen 70's samples. On lead single "Ain't No Other Man", Christina decides to sassily strut her stuff on the dance-floor, joyfully professing her love for her man over loud horns, catchy DJ scratches and a vocal sample that repeats, with equal sassiness, "Do yo' thang honey!". And indeed, Christina is doing her thing on the first disc's 12 tracks, especially on the infectious "Still Dirty" - a jazzier, classier, more horn-driven, more lyrically intelligent version of its original Pop-Rock-`n'-Roll counterpart - and "Back In The Day - a nostalgic jazz/funk slow jam where Christina pays tribute to the days and legends of old times while Primo name-checks many of those certain legends (Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Otis Redding, Billie Holiday, Donnie Hathaway, etc.). The album's deepest moments, however, come in the melodramatic piano ballad "Oh Mother" -a soulful ode to her mother and the strength she displayed against her father's physical abuse- "Thank You (Dedication To The Fans)" -which mixes voicemails of appreciative fans with pieces of her old smash hit "Genie In A Bottle" and thankful lyrics which she expectedly sings beautifully- and "Understand" -another beautiful ballad where Christina thanks her man for showing her the light & understanding her through the ups and downs.

Once the first disc comes to a close, Linda Perry works her magic alongside Christina Aguilera on the production and songwriting duties on the album's entire second disc, resulting in a slower, but equally enjoyable listen. "Candyman" -with its funky horns, Christina's strong vocals, lyrically charming (if not crass) candy metaphors ("He's a one-stop shop/Makes the panties drop/He's a sweet sugar, candy-coated candyman)- sounds like a song better suited to the album's first disc, but remains to be a welcome addition to an already-great disc. Whether it's seeking help from God on the melodramatic jazz-gospel ballad "Mercy On Me", hoping for a hero on the acoustic, subtle ballad "Save Me From Myself", giving pleasure to the bad boys by sultrily crooning "I'mma give you a little taste/Of the sugar beneath my waist" on the sexy slow jam "Nasty Naughty Boy" or lamenting the pain of having no father to stand beside her and her loving man on her wedding day on the disc's most autobiographical track "The Right Man", Christina delivers startling results with every track.

The only noticeable weakness to "Back To Basics" as a whole is that Christina Aguilera oversings WAY too much! It's better to have a powerful, soulful singer who can still sing captivatingly from the soul than a multi-enhanced Pop culture airhead who can't sing for s**t, but her excessive wailing over more than 80% of the entire album's tracks can be increasingly hard to bear as the album progresses. Personally, it doesn't annoy me (if you're a great singer, wouldn't you do the same?), but she needs to start showing some level of subtlety in her music. She's displayed it with breath-taking results on this album's "Save Me From Myself" and Stripped's "Beautiful". Ultimately though, there's very little to complain about. Christina has made another splendid album that accomplishes its task as a standout throwback album with commercially viable qualities..

thanks for posting.

Out of all self appointed divas that came out in the late 90s that took to walk around half naked on stage to distract from their lack of talent (Britney anyone?) Christina finally shines.

She did her raunchy times, but as opposed to many others she doesn't need that anymore, she's got the voice, and what a voice!. All the critics that righteously accused her of screaming in her last effort "Stripped" can rest finally assured that they have been heard. Christina's vocals are outstanding and this album..
I just hope this is the prelude of great things to come...And I hope her and Madge work together!

Anyone who hates on Christina needs to stfu. Its hate.. shes gorgeous.. I admit (being her biggest fan and all) sometimes she does fashion no-no's.. but that doesnt make her ugly.. shes effin gorgeous.. dirrty.. clean.. blonde, brunette.. redhead.. shes all around gorgeous.. and not only that, she has an AMAZING voice. so anyone who hates on her needs to stfu.

and even without makeup, shes still a cutie.

so if you want to hate on christina post a picture of yourself so people can hate on you too. Youre probably too ugly, which is why you come on here judging celebrities.. you have no lives of your own. Fucking haters.

Christina is one of the best vocalists ever, why does everyone have to be so critical about looks? is this really what america is becoming? people wont like someone just because they dont look perfect? take a look in the mirror, neither do you or anyone else. and FYI celebrities dont really look the way they do at the Grammys or wherever else, theyre just people. they have flaws. just like everone else.

i dare someone to try to make it ONE day without comparing someone to someone else and try not putting anyone else. you cant do it can you?

didnt think so.

Posted by: DJBoogie

hey mandy, how can you say she copied britney?
Britney is hardly friggin original "I wanna be madonna but dont have the brains so I try the shock element, only Im crap at singing"
Britney spears is a manufactured skank who pretended to be a homely girl next door
Christina Aguilera never pretended to be the girl next door,
Britney cant sing, (cant do much of anything really)
Christina CAN sing
theres really no comparison
Yea yea theyre both manufactured, mousketeers, blah blah
But I do think Christina Aguilera deserves more credit that Slag ass skank spears

christina is so beatiful i have slept wi her theres nothink fake bout her

Hey u dumb asses... Does it really matter who is better than who? We are all entitled to our opinion and they will all differ.. I guess it depends on the morals of each individual. If you have gutter slime morals, then you would prefer Britney! If you are searching for talent, then Christina kicks Britneys ass in everyway possible.I for one will really enjoy her concert when I go next month. I wouldnt pay a dollar to see the other little thing that calls herself a mother. I really find it sad how many of you immature, obviously jealous catty little girls, can be so nasty about someone elses looks. You guys are ugly on the inside. Why not get a real life and start worrying about real things. Oh yeh,and while you are at it, grow the FUCK UP!!!! The level of intelligence on this site is laughable.

christina is amazing and anyone who says she is isnt are just jealous, sad, hobo's if you ask me. and btw britney is gay. once upon a time she was good but where is she now? she couldnt handle fame, as for christina she is a strong woman who isnt afraid to take risks and do things her way. more than i can say for britney, and tbh she just needs to get herself together out of the limelight and take care of her two kids, not keep feeding the paps by constantly doing stupid things.

Posted by: Anonymous

i agree with 'person with a brain' why is everyone going on about how ugly she is is that relevant? she is an amazing singer and good at what she does. where do looks come into it? anyway everyone whos hating you are ugly on the inside and most probably on the out aswell. so piss off yeah? oh yehh and btw christina is beatiful. no doubt. no argument. people who say otherwise are blatanly ugly fucks who sit at there computer all day caller other people ugly.
so there you have it.

christina you are the bomb.
x

Posted by: "concerned about the illiterates out there"

Personally I think both girls are great and can sing. Christina can definitely hold the high notes and Britany has a unique voice. I guess everyone has their own opinions but if one has to make a comment, say something worth hearing - you take away all the cuss words in people's comments and they have nothing to say, so why bother. Your time would probably be better spent going back to school to learn, at least the basics of reading and writing. Get off the computer and go read a classic instead.
