Clint Eastwood is speaking out about his appearance at the Republican National Convention, and the 82-year-old actor reveals that not only is he a libertarian, but he doesn't care what anyone thinks about his speech!

"If somebody's dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they're going to have to take what they get," Eastwood told Extra.

"The Democrats who were watching thought I was going senile. And the Republicans knew I was!" he joked to Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday. Eastwood noted that he takes issue with any government interference in citizens' personal lives, including attempts to define marriage, same sex or otherwise, through legislation. Um, so why was he appearing onstage with Paul Ryan?!

Clint added, "[It's] a part of the Libertarian idea: Leave everybody alone!"

Clint Eastwood hit the stage at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida in support of Mitt Romney.

While speaking, the 82-year-old actor addressed an "invisible" President Barack Obama. Eastwood said:

"I've got Mr. Obama sitting here. I was going to ask him a couple of questions ... It may be time for someone else to come along and solve the problem. I think if you just step aside and Mr. Romney can kind of take over. You can maybe still use a plane."

The Dirty Harry actor then pretended to speak more with President Obama. Eastwood added, "What do you want me to tell Romney? I can't tell him to do that to himself . . . you're getting as bad as Biden."

President Obama responded by Tweeting the below photo along with the following caption: "This chair is taken."

Assistant FBI Director Mike Kortan is flaming mad over Clint Eastwood and Leonardo DiCaprio's portrayal of former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover as gay in their new movie, J. Edgar, reports USA Today.

Kortan says Eastwood and DiCaprio came to him for information on Hoover, and they were told, "Vague rumors and fabrications have cropped up from time to time, but there is no evidence in the historical record."

Former agents have campaigned against the depiction of the rumored relationship between Hoover and his top aide, Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer in the film.)

William Branon, chairman of The J. Edgar Hoover Foundation, said:

"There is no basis in fact for such a portrayal of Mr. Hoover. It would be a grave injustice and monumental distortion to proceed with such a depiction ..."

It's currently unclear how far the film takes the idea of a homosexual relationship between Hoover and Tolson, though the trailer (above) shows them holding hands.

Beyonce may be heading to the big screen with Clint Eastwood for an updated version of the 1937 classic A Star Is Born.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that the two stars are currently in negotiations to be a part of the remake with Beyonce starring in the film and Eastwood directing.

A Star Is Born was remade back in 1954 starring Judy Garland and James Mason ... then again in 1976 featuring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

A male lead has not yet been cast, however Warner Bros. is reportedly eyeing Will Smith for the role. If Mr. Smith is indeed in the running, he better start warming up those vocal cords!

We thought everyone in the universe had heard the good news about Angelina Jolie being pregnant with twins - until we spoke to Clint Eastwood last night, that is!

The legendary actor/director was chatting amicably with the paps on his way back to his car last night when our cameraman asked him for a comment about Angie's imminent due date. Much to everyone's surprised, Clint claimed ignorance, declaring that he's "not an OB man" and that he'd be waiting to read about it "in the papers".

Perhaps Clint might want to start checking X17Online instead - we'll have the news way before the papers do!

Here's Angelina Jolie, who looks ready to burst, at the Cannes red carpet premiere of Changeling with director Clint Eastwood - the two (along with Brad Pitt and Mick Jagger) dined out together at Tetou last night.

Angie's positively glowing! Maybe due to all that k-i-s-s-i-n-g with Brad?
