CONRAD MURRAY TRIAL: Defense Says Prosecution "Failed To Prove A Crime"
Posted on Thu Nov 3, 2011 03:05 PM PDT

The prosecution and defense gave closing arguments in Conrad Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial on Thursday.
Defense attorney Ed Chernoff said the prosecution "absolutely failed to prove a crime."
All the defense has to do is give the jury reasonable doubt for Murray to escape conviction. Chernoff reminded the jury of the defense's argument; that Jackson swallowed Lorazepam on his own.
Prosecuting attorney David Walgren called the defense's theory "junk science." He reiterated his points that Murray did not call 911 soon enough, and that he was negligent in his everyday care of Jackson. "Conrad Murray knew what he had done, and he knew his acts killed Michael Jackson ... Justice demands a guilty verdict," he said.
In order for the jury to prove Murray is guilty, the people must prove that he committed an unlawful act, acted with criminal negligence and caused the death of Michael Jackson.
