Totally agree 7:29. The audience did sound like morons laughing but they might've thought he was kidding around. He was very manipulative the way he told the story, in a half-jokey way, making the audience laugh so what he did seemed less bad, playing the victim to the hilt, and not telling anyone what he did until the very end of the story so he already had their sympathy. This little speech was probably very very planned out for maximum control and dramatics and sympathy.

It's not a simple matter of 2 people having sex. Letterman is the boss and he had sex with a subordinate. Not even a high level subordinate. Also they said it was more than one.

That's abuse of power and sexual harassment. It is. Add her youth to the mix and it's really predatory. Then there's the fact that he has a little kid and just got married. Then that he's a public figure with a lot of influence and has a public responsibility. He had to come forward. He's on tv every night and had to say something. Of course he couldn't pay the guy off. Letterman said he still would've had no guarantee the guy wouldn't write the book.

I wonder if when he said "had sex" he meant doing the Lewinski thing...then he felt no guilt with his girlfriend. I bet that's it.

He may have just married his wife in recent years but they have been a couple for around 25 years. I think they way he put it out there was disrespectful to his wife.

Regarding the women he had affairs with:
unless they come out and say he forced them to have sex and their jobs were in jeopardy if they didn't have sex with him, I say it his and their damn business and nobody elses. We live in a day and age where women can file sexual harassment charges if they are legimately sexually harassed. If they didn't thats their damn fault.

No fool is going to come out and say do me or get fired. It's implicit in their positions. It's not so easy to file a sexual harassment suit. And when women do, idiots like 10:48 say "the bitch just wants money."

You need a lawyer (expensive), you need proof, you need to be willing to go through the trauma and inevitable publicity, and you are guaranteeing yourself no further work in entertainment because men have the power.
