Dear John Knocks Avatar Out Of The Top Spot At The Box Office

While most men were busy gearing up to watch the Saints take home their first Superbowl win ever, women were sending Dear John to the top of the box office, unseating Avatar for the first time in eight weeks.
The Amanda Seyfried/Channing Tatum Nicholas Sparks romantic drama took in $32.4 million, which was better than expected, and more than its $25 million dollar budget in just one weekend.
According to MTV, the audience was made up of 84% women and 2/3rds were under 21.
While Avatar has smashed every other record Titanic set, the Leo DiCaprio movie stayed on top of the box office for 17 weeks, while Avatar only lasted for 7.
