Demi Lovato Continues To Discuss Bullying

Demi Lovato DemiLovatorc0907_02_X17.jpg Last month on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Disney starlet Demi Lovato revealed that like many other young girls, she was bullied in middle school, and it was so bad that it eventually led her to be home-schooled. Tear.

Demi told Ellen, "I never really understood why [I was bullied] until looking back - I had a different lifestyle than everyone else, whether it was because of my haircolor or whatever the reason was...I want to help with bullying because there are girls that can't just up and home-school and focus on their career."

In a recent MySpace Celebrity blog, Demi goes into further details about her bullying in 7th grade, and talks about how she's teased now, in the form of gossip blogs and cruel commenters. Demi writes:

I've been talking to a few fans lately and i've been fortunate enough to maintain a friendship with them over myspace or emails and even though our lives are completely different, we still have one thing in common; having trouble dealing with the cruelty of others. or some people call it bullying. i've dealt with it before until i made the decision to homeschool but sometimes it seems as if it doesn't just end in high-school. sometimes i get online and read blogs (which i probably shouldn't if i can't handle it) and read the horrible things that people say in comments... and it can really take a toll on you. verbal abuse can be just as harmful as physical abuse. the fans that i have stayed in touch tell me all the time that they're either being harassed online or being beaten at school and it hurts me to hear that. i took the easy road out and decided to homeschool but unfortunately not everyone has that option. so as a message to everyone.. please keep in mind when you're about to threaten someone, make fun of them or leave blog comments about them.... that what you say or do to others can truly affect someone. and as cheesy and lame as it may sound.. never forget the golden rule.

We see Demi's point, but she's a pretty, famous girl, and for her to complain about bullying seems a bit hypocritical. Plus, how is she going to help people if she just avoided the situation herself? Maybe we should be nicer, but if she had stood up to her bullies, rather than complain about it via the media, we might be a bit more sympathetic towards her.

Demi also reveals that she's a Twilight fan - she's currently reading the second book in the series, and she says she "[Can't] put the books down." Think she's as crazy about the Twilight movie and it's star, Rob Pattinson?

And, um, Demi, if you want to be a star, just a little wake up call - you're going to have to deal with nasty blogs every once in a while. Get over it! Miley Cyrus sure did, and you can too.

Confront the bullies? You've obviouly never been bullied. Nor have I and even I gasped at that unbelievably ignorant comment.

Why exactly is this "hypocritical"?

Posted by: Heather

So she wants to use her fame to stop bullying rather than save the fur of doe eyed animals. Good for her I say. Shame on you for belittling her about it.

Wow. You really disgust me. I guess her doing something good with her fame will never compare to what YOU do ..take pictures of people and then criticize them. I wish I had a job like yours ..NOT.

I to was bullied as a teenager and adult. Some celebrities(britney spears)also experience a form of harassment(not legal harassment). It's terrible bullies lack capacity for thought, and just act.

That unsympathetic attitude is pretty typical of a professional gossip-monger, but you've riled up your readers! Way to go! Unfortunately that's the only purpose you've found left in your hollow existence.

All bullies are weak, just stand up and look after yourself, easy to say I know but once you've done it once you'll never look back.

We talk about this issue alot.
You can't always tell teachers or councelors. Not all teachers/coucelors are interested, sympathetic, or helpful.

Such as the case in the city we live. Last year a young boy 15 I think, was constantly being bullied, and picked on because he was goth. The teachers knew and did nothing. When he would defend hisself, against physical attacks, he was the one suspended.

He came to school and shot several kids and one teacher. I can't remember if the police shot him or he shot his self.

I really felt sorry for him. The media made him out to be a monster, when in reality he was a kid that was being abused by everyone.

It's really sad. If your being bullied, and no one helps., get out of that situation and get home schooled.
Because nothing will help the kid, and he will suffer the rest of his life for it.

Yeah, you're right...she should stop trying to do something good with her fame and just start drinking, smoking, doing drugs, and flashing the camera like all the other Hollywood girls.

x17 you guys could help stop this issue, and yet you make fun. do you remember the story of the kid who was bullied at school, he later went and shot kids at his school then killed himself. or the girl who killed herself in england because of this issue. x17 you're really low, i wouldn't wish this even on your kids. we're all human have a heart!!

You people are such IDIOTS. She didn't run away from it. What are you trying to do play psychiatrist? Bullying is a front page issue and you had a chance to do something, say something, ANYTHING that could help further her cause. People have committed suicide over bullying as well as commit crimes, up to and including school shootings and what does X17 do? Take the high road and post links to help people affected by bullying? HEL L NO! They use it to provide some twisted and uneducated assumption and make themselves look like the jackasses they are...AS USUAL! Shame on you, extremely unprofessional.

Demi, you go girl! A smart young lady addressing a real issue.

This post was just ignorant and idiotic...like all the other Demi Lovato posts on this site. I'm married to a person who was bullied in school and who also ended up home schooling because of it. He says now that if he could have had a gun all those years ago, he probably would have tried to do the bullies he knew some harm. It takes an incredible toll on a person, and it doesn't matter what you look like or how nice you are, bullies know how to fine your weakness and exploit it until life isn't worth living anymore. good for Demi if she wants to help others who are facing this situation, and screw you x-17 for being so ignorant and heartless.

The people who make this website need a LIFE. and the things you write are NOT funny they're extremley lame. I am sticking with Perez. At least when he shows a celeb its not some creepy video of them getting into their car fighting for their life in a sea of you did taking their pic. Its actually something IMPORTANT. Stop trying to have Perez's humor cus its NOT WORKING FOR YOU.
