Demi Lovato covers the February issue of Seventeen Magazine, and the 19-year-old starlet chats about her struggle with depression and how she's improved her life, but she also dishes on her occasional drama with fellow Disney darling Miley Cyrus.
On her dark period, Demi tells the mag, “I’m not gonna lie. I was self-medicating. I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain.” However after a stint in rehab in late 2010, she's doing much better these days. “I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, I don’t throw up after my meals, I don’t starve myself," she says. "There’s nothing that I do that I feel ashamed of.”
While her relationship with Miley isn't always perfect, she knew she could count on her when things got tough. "No matter how many times we fight, we will always be in each others' lives," she tells the mag. "Miley and I are very strong-headed, so when we fight, it's brutal and we're like, 'We're never going to be friends again!' Then two days later, we're like, 'I love you and I miss you!'" So how's her friendship with Selena Gomez? "Selena and I, we never fight," Demi says. "She’s not a confrontational person at all. Both of them will never leave my life no matter what happens, because we’ve been through so much together.”
Demi is proud of her sobriety, and she says she feels "more confident, happy and healthy" than ever before. "I have so much to look forward to -- from little everyday things, like where I'm going to go shopping with my friends, to big things, like heading out on the road [on tour], or even really long-term things, like what my next big project will be."
Glad to see she's on the right track now!

She is no great example to youth.
crazy bitch has learned to hide her problems. Thats all.
Good move for her to stick with music. Nutty behavior and drugs are generally overlooked or expected in that field.
I'm not a fan but wish her well.
I wonder if the folks at Disney actually provide the alcohol and drugs to these kids, or if they just look the other way?
What is she, 14 or something? Her parents should be ashamed of themselves as they go to the bank to cash their 30% cut.
I hate it when people use depression as a bragging right. Not that I fully believe she actually had depression...she probably didn't get her way a couple of times and thought that the pain she felt over that was depression. I hate dumb people who talk about this kind of thing, because it makes a million other dumb, young people claim they have the same thing, and they clutter the system.
Fat
Fugly drama queen.
Didn't know who she was until she started whining about everything....now I'm really sick of her! So many people out there with much worse problems!!!
Omg guys why all the negative comments, she's a celeb but she's still human which means she just has to deal with them plus thousands of people with opinions similar to yours. Just because she decided to be open about it, everyone still would have found out doesn't mean u have to trash her like that for wanting to help people going through similar stuff. Have a heart...
Was that her tummy, she has scars?
Hahaha I use to like her but gross she needs to stick with her real life acting
"In her (Dr. Jamison) study Exuberance: The Passion for Life, she cites research which suggests that 15 percent of people who could be diagnosed as manic depressive may never actually become depressed; in effect, they are permanently 'high' on life. She mentions President Theodore Roosevelt as an example."
