Dennis Hopper died at his home in Venice at 8:15 am this morning from complications of prostate cancer, a family friend tells Reuters.
Hopper was surrounded by his family and friends. The actor, who was best known for starring in and directing Easy Rider, was 74 years old.
Well this is just sad.
73-year-old actor Dennis Hopper, who is suffering from cancer, has managed to file for divorce from his wife - Victoria Hopper - of 14 years.
He cites "irreconcilable differences" as the cause and is seeking joint custody of their 6-year-old daughter, Galen.
Allegedly this has something to do with Dennis not wanting her to be in the will? Either way, we wish Dennis and his family the best during this difficult time...
Dennis Hopper has been battling prostate cancer for several months now, and new reports say that the actor has come to terms with the fact that the end is near.
A source tells the National Enquirer:
"Dennis has come to grips with the fact that the end is likely near. He knew going into the last weeks of filming Crash that he was on borrowed time. His doctors had told him they were no longer able to contain the disease, and his condition had severely worsened."
The other day a close friend of Hopper's called in to NPR and discussed the actor's condition, agreeing that the Oscar nominee knew his days were numbered.
Dennis Hopper has been rushed to a New York City hospital, and it's being reported that he was wearing an oxygen mask with numerous tubes visible.
ET reports that the 73-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was brought in by an ambulance, but no other details are known at this time. Hope he's okay!
