Why Did DJ AM Die?

With so many details and facts yet to be released about DJ AM's untimely death today in New York, it's got us wondering about the cause of the death, of course -- in a clinical way, but also the psychological reasons behind the tragedy.
Prescription mediation and crack pipes were reportedly found at the scene of AM's death -- his Lafayette Street apartment in the East Village. Goldstein had supposedly been sober for years after a bout with alcohol and drug addiction almost a decade ago. What could have pushed him to go back?
Some speculate his recent breakup with girlfriend Hayley Wood (above photo) was the cause. She had called off the relationship in recent weeks.
Or could it have been the post-traumatic stress resulting from his plane crash last year in which he and pal Travis Barker survived a fiery landing that took the lives of four others?
Whatever the reasons behind AM's apparent drug use and subsequent death, he covered up his sadness. We're hard pressed to find a photo of AM in our archives in which he's not smiling and looking like an all-around happy guy.
He was a leading talent in his field, loved by many, and he will certainly be missed.
