It's mostly the church that's against it. catholics, christians..etc. i'm christian myself, look at countries that are catholics they ban it, e.g ireland and i'm irish living in ireland. Gay marriages,abortion... are not legal. i don't beleive in homosexuality, but i do beleive in people taking decisions for their lives. Because they'll be accountable for their sins on judgement day(from God)!, just like I'll be for my own sins and mistake. Because as a christian I believe what the Bible says about it!

The catholic church is very powerful, they do make a lot of rules and when they're against something then that what happens.
Holland, germany are not the religious counrties unlike us, so people do almost anything they want. i'm dating a guy form finland, where it's normal for families to see each naked. in fact he said he was in the sauna naked with his mum, sister, dad and his sister's boyfriend. but funny though because finland is against gay people, and he's against gay people. this coming from a guy who has family and friends going naked all the time!

The thing is we're a christian country and we've always followed the ways of the Bible. and the Bible says in the old testament, no to same sex relationship. unless people are now saying the Bible is wrong, then those people are not christians. Otherwise then we should now start allowing some religions that say a man can have 3 or 10 wives and we shouldn't be shocked. God's laws are above man's laws(goverment),because then what the point of having laws. some people claim weed cures some illnesses (which is true to some extent). then we should allow people to smoke it and before we know it, 14 and 15 years old will ask for things that 18 and 21 to be allowed to them!

you know gay people and people who support them always say "then why did God make them that way?". well some people have the desire to have sex with kids, murder or hurt themselves, or it's in them to kill for example. those peopel too might say "why then did God make me this way". but does that make it right?, or the ones having 3 wives and the wives being happy with that..they'll say the same. Why change the Bible to suit people, oh i foget because it's a free country. well then get rid of the Bible and laws then, i bet people will start making many things legal now.

The church is right, in fact back in the days when people had morals , respect and less crimes, it's because they respected God and the church. Some people might not be happy about it well guess what kids too aren't happy when parents tell don't do this or that. but it's for their own good,the Bible says don't change or add to the Bilbe. if you want to change or add then don't call yourself a christian, also allow everything that has been called illegal then. because if you change one, for sure more people will want also their way.

I think gays have been recognised, people don't go and stare at them in the street like back in the days. but as a christian, my thing is if the you know that in christian churches we don't accept it, don't try to force us to accept it. usa is a great country in the sense that gays have priests or pastors and states where it's recognised nowdays. then they should do it there, simple e.g stupid but makes sense. when britney was in court for the car license, she had to prove that she was from another state. forcing also christians to change their faith isn't right too. it's saying we should change our identity, our basic morals. no that's also unfair, people are saying be who you want to be, but don't change what we believe in too!!

Great point about accepting people having 2 wives or more. plus these days divorce rate is high, pretty soon they'll be divorced(talknig about heterosexuals too). gays are in fact accepted, it's just when it comes to going in church and goverment papers. because goverment have to confirm most of the time with church. in a particular country, we know a country religion by its goverment. example we know muslim countries by what their goverment believe in. and christians countries we follow the Bible and the Bible is against it. unless people want america us to stop being christians and change our country's religion??

Why should our christianity change, look at islam, even when they are in our country they always want people to apologise for this or that when we give opinions in our own country, even our media back them because we're scared. plus we've let go a lot of our believes. we're not saying gay get our, or killing them and all the bad stuff. in fact as a christian country we've gone weak a lot. where other states allow it, but arabs don't let go of even 1 thing the koran tells them, plus all of them are united in thier believes no matter where they are in the world. but as christians, we sell our souls jsut please other. Nothing wrong with our faith, i've never seen someone bombing a country for the sake of christianity. even when we say don't allow still gays are free to be in relationships work and so on. if it were another religion, you'd be even stoned or something. i'm not saying stoning is right, at least all we're saying is don't change what the Bible tells us. yet christians get lots of insults, but people forget that we're very free in many things unlike other societies, who make us even apologise in our contry. for once let us be tough and stand our ground!! how many people will publicly on tv and insult one religion in particular, next thing it'll be a bomb. when christians are insulted on tv, NO BOMBING!!

I think it is disgusting that everyone is not treated equally. Everyone deserves to marry the one person that makes them happy, and I don't think it is anyone's business besides the two that want to marry. Who are we to say that two people can't marry? It's sick. The only people that should not be allowed to marry are people that are related and children. Just because you believe in God and that marriage is only between a man and a woman, it doesn't mean every other single person does. How would you feel if someone told you that you couldn't marry the person that you loved more than anything else in the world? I hope that this is somehow changed. Everyone deserves happiness.

It's very sad to see these people striped of their civil right! They are not hurting anybody. They simply want to have their rights recognized. ok so gay marriages are banned...straights are incredibly happy...they find the right only belongs to them...gays then are denied the right to marry their mates (oh wait..first it was approved in 2004...then voided the marriages that took place...oh they said it's ok again to marry thus the 18,000 couples took the plunge...then again somebody decided to have it included in the ballot and take a vote on the issue and said the "PEOPLE" (more accurately pointing to STRAIGHTS) have spoken and DICTATED that no gays have the right to marry.....WHAT THE HELL!!! Why was this issue not discussed among its citizens (THAT SHOULD MEAN EVERYBODY- regardless of gender) in the first place??? way back in 2003!!! SO what now???
