Lynch, 50, who tied the knot with her girlfriend Lara Embry on Memorial Day, says she was closeted for most of her life, and she made the decision to come out because of "people like" DeGeneres.
"I used to lay in bed and go, 'How will I come out or will I come out?" she said. "You were at the height of your fame and you came out," Lynch told Ellen. "And that just blazed a trail for me. It really did. It made it so much easier for me what you did."
DeGeneres announced she was gay on the cover of Time magazine in 1997, and though it was a huge deal back then, she's certainly helped pave the way for many other stars in Hollywood.

Who needs real heroes when you've got a talk-show host to look up to. All is well in West Hollywood (L.A. gay town.)
WOW Ellen what a trail blaizer u are huh???Clap clap clap who fnnn cares why dont u do something good in the world other than promote being a box muncher.............
yeah she is like the rest of 'em, get on top of their fame THEN come out of the closet. Wouldn't want anything to spoil that goldmine now would we. "Hail Ellen, Queen of carpet munchers"("Bow") More like paving the way to hell. Two women together is gross and wrong, period! I'd never support that way of life and people that do are as sick as them.
I'm pretty sure that no one was shocked that Ellen was gay or Jane Lynch for that matter. And Nathan Lane certainly didn't need a press conference to announce that he was gay.
Nobody cares. Why do people feel the need to announce their sexuality? It's your own business, just keep it to yourself. Straight people don't broadcast all the freaky things that they do in the bedroom...take a hint!
Ellen was the first TV star to come out, and did so to death threats and lost her career for years. It really was a courageous thing that shouldn't be forgotten and helped lead to us having these talented people that can be truthful and happy in their lives like Jane Lynch :)
ive noticed x17 and popeater have the most homophobic comments lol
Why do people feel the need to tell the world their sexuality?? It's no one's business so it should never even be an issue!
There is no reason to talk about your sex life in public and only nasty attention whores do that
Jane, you da prettiest & da greatest!
Love ya!!
