Eva Longoria Throws Her Support Behind President Obama
Posted on Thu Aug 23, 2012 08:55 AM PDT
Eva Longoria is ready to show her support for President Barack Obama by speaking at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in February.
The 37-year-old Desperate Housewives actress, who will take the podium in Charlotte, North Carolina, is one of 35 national co-chairs in Obama's upcoming re-election campaign.
During a campaign video, Longoria made the following statement:
- "Ever since I was a little kid, my parents made sure I knew I could do anything if I worked hard, and my sister Lisa who faced obstacles growing up with special needs, taught me to be courageous and compassionate. This is how I try to live my life day to day and this is what I see in everything President Obama does.
Whether he’s fighting for affordable healthcare and access to education, or supporting small businesses in the hispanic community, over the last three years he’s worked to reform our immigration system, to give everyone a fair shot at the American Dream."
Other speakers will include San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, U.S. Senator John Kerry and Former President Bill Clinton. The DNC will take place from Sept. 4 - 6.
