Haiti Telethon Raises $58 Million!

Looks like George Clooney and the rest of Hollywood proved that lending a helping hand can do a lot of good...

Friday night's celebrity-studded "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon raised a record-breaking $58 million, and that's just donations coming from the public, not including money coming from corporations or large private donors.

The music album from Friday night's performances was also number one on iTunes in 18 countries on Saturday; those figures are still being calculated as well.

Hopefully this money can help!

Props to everyone involved.

why donate? when the stars are already handling!

Posted by: Anonymous

ummm, to be part of the solution?

Posted by: Anonymous

why donate---because you can afford to give as little as $5.00 ---that $5 bucks will go a long way for them.

Voodoo worshipping cannibals, really great people to send money to. You probably voted for Obamao also. Your own country is in worse trouble and you don't even realize it.

11:57 where is your heart, your compassion??

I'm so proud. The country where I live (Holland) raised 84 Mio with a telethon, and people are still donate at giro 555!!

Posted by: Anonymous

actually, the number is way, way more bigger sine that number didn't include money from corporations nor big donators, nor benefits from the show's MP3. But it seems that some people are so eager to bash stars that they didn't read the article before they made their nasty comments. Congratulations to George Clooney and to all the others people who, unlike some there do great things instead of bashing people they don't know, did participate at the telethon and to all the people who gave to it.

0bama already donated in my name.

How about each celeb donate a million, that could have doubled the amount.

Typical libtards always generous with working class money.

How much did JayZ's terrorist pals donate, or he should have at least donated the blood money he got for Bey shaking her asssss at gaddaffi.

This is what gets me. Yes Haiti is a horrid situation. People don't belong to be homeless or dying. So why is it that people in this country forget about our issues. We have huge homeless issues, we have kids going to school that are not fit to be a prison. With books that are crap or don't exist to begin with. But the stars can roll out for Haiti why not our own people in a big way. Shame full.

2:49pm stop comparing right now, these people are suffering, maybe you need to fly over there to see if you can't grasp the concept on the news.

Regarding Rihanna's, Jay Z's and Bono's performance:
Why did they have Bono's mike practically off? So nasal sounding Rihanna can over power him? Also, her and Jay Z were so arrogent (sorry, I know that is spelled wrong) it disgusted me. Can't stand them.

8:35pm i thought you wanted to help in some small way that's why i suggested the shoes but if you can't do it, you can't. I hope your situation improves!

9:10 --- some day you'll need the help and i wonder how many of the people you know would want to lift a finger for you. You sound like one of those "me, me, me meeee" people!

Worry about yourself, you are obviously not in the position to help unfortunately. It's nothing to feel bad over, it's just some people here are being pretty pig headed about helping people that are in need. If someone isn't in the position to help, there is no shame in that and no need to feel guilty.

X17 Poll

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
