The Academy Finally Apologizes For Farrah Snub
Posted on Wed Mar 10, 2010 09:25 AM PDT
When Farrah Fawcett was left out of the "In Memoriam" tribute at the Academy Awards on Sunday, her family and fans alike were understandably disappointed.
Though Leslie Unger, spokeswoman for the Academy refused to apologize, stating, "I would not say that it was an oversight," Bruce Davis, who was responsible for the segment (and has been 1993) has issued a formal apology.
Davis says:
- "There's nothing you can say to people, particularly to family members, within a day or two of the show that helps at all. They tend to be surprised and hurt, and we understand that and we're sorry for it."
RIP Farrah.

Let's hope that when Leslie Unger dies and it goes unrecognized, HER family and friends feel the same sense of disrespect that Farrah's did. Unger is well-known to be a cold and insensitive BITCH in this town so here's to hoping karma bites her in her nasty ass.
That's not an apology. They are more or less saying sorry you feel that way, not sorry we left her out.
This was not an apology. Farrah Fawcett was an actress and icon. Michael Jackson was a music artist who did music videos. They recognized him because of his popularity. Their arguments are worthless. They are in the wrong and instead of admitting it they make more and more excuses.
I agree with the Academy. I grew up in the era of "Farrah" who, by all accounts, was primarily a TV personality. You cannot please everyone, cannot honor everyone and should not be expected to do so!!
So how does Michael Jackson qualify? For the Grammys, yes, which he was, but for the Oscars. C'mon people there is some backroom deal that was made. Once again, money and power rule in Hollywood. RIP Farrah, you inspired with your brave fight.
Absolutely disgraceful to not have a tribute to Farrah.
I am the biggest MJ fan, but she had more right to be in the tribute than he did for this event.
Come on people, give me a break. Farrah was big for what a few stupid movies and one season on CA.Rest of the time a drugged out fool with a worthless ass Ryan O'neal by her side. Now Bea Arthur that another story but farrah give me a break, and if they would have honored her we would have had to listen to mister tweaker Ryan stand up for her.
Farrah Fawcett Majors definitely should have been remembered during the memoriam! Shame on the Academy and shame on pathetic apology! Farrah done a great job in "Burning Bed" and "Extremities". She deserved to be honored!
