Gabourey Sidibe has found work .. in a music video for rock band Foster The People.
Not exactly what we'd expect from the Oscar-nominated actress.
The Precious 28-year-old starlet, and the band's frontman Mark Foster, are acting out a DMV-like scenario in the video for "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)."
Foster the People busted onto the music scene earlier this year with the hit single "Pumped Up Kicks." Wonder if Ms. Sidibe's cameo will help this song soar to the top of the charts?
Gabourey Sidibe, star of Precious, is gracing the cover of Elle Magazine's October issue, however the publication is now being accused of lightening her skin color for the photo.
For the current issue celebrating the magazine's 25th anniversary, four actresses including Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried and Lauren Conrad, all received their own Elle cover.
Elle Magazine, who claims "nothing out of the ordinary" has been done to Sidibe's cover image, released the following statement:
"We have four separate covers this month and Gabby's cover was not retouched any more or less than the others."
Do you think Elle Magazine intentionally lightened Gabourey's skin color?
First an Oscar nom, now the world! Up and coming actress Gabourey Sidibe is living the glamorous life in NYC - last night we spotted her out and about in the Big Apple with a Starbucks in hand. Where can you next see the Precious actress? In The Big C on Showtime... a comedy about cancer. Er, yay?
Alice Tan Ridley, Gabourey Sidibe's mom, isn't staying quiet about Howard Stern's remarks about her daughter's weight. Just last week, Stern had called the 26-year-old Precious actress the "most enormous fat black chick I've ever seen."
Ridley is blasting the shock jock for his comments telling Inside Edition:
"Get a life! He can see, you can see, I can see Gabby is a big girl. She's a big woman, so what's wrong with that?" "She's not like everyone else in the world. I don't see him giving jobs out to anybody, so why should we care what he says?"
As for whether her plus-sized daughter will get more acting roles, Ridley adds: "He might not hire her, but someone else will."
This May, Gabby will start filming Showtime's dark comedy series The Big C.
Looks like despite the controversy, Miss Sidibe is doing just fine. Remember the famous line from LL Cool J's hit song, "Mama said knock you out..."
Spotted: Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe out shopping in NYC over the weekend looking, well, a little taken aback... maybe she's not used to all the pap attention?
Sidebar, whaddya think Gabby thought of Howard Stern calling her an "enormous fat black chick" on his radio show?
Gabourey Sidibe may have fans around the world, but radio shock jock Howard Stern is not one of them.
On his radio show, Stern blasted the Precious star saying:
"There's the most enormous, fat black chick I've ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone's pretending she's a part of show business and she's never going to be in another movie. She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she's never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?"
The 26-year old Oscar-nominated actress has some Hollywood heavyweights backing her blossoming career like Oprah, but Stern could care less. As for his thoughts of Lady O, Stern didn't hold back.
"Oprah's another liar, a filthy liar. She's telling an enormous woman the size of a planet that she's going to have a career."
Ouch! But it looks like Miss Sidibe may have the last laugh.
The actress will play a gifted student opposite Laura Linney in Showtime's dark comedy series The Big C. The series will premiere this summer. The Oscar-nominee will also hit the big screen later this year in Yelling to the Sky, starring alongside Lenny Kravitz's daughter, Zoe.
Regardless of what Stern says, you have to admit that scoring a Golden Globe, SAG and Oscar nomination all in one year is pretty impressive! You go, Gabby!
Helen Mirren's talen and Sandra Bullock's popularity aside, I totally hope Gabourey Sidibe takes the prize for Best Actress for her role in the hit Precious.
Isn't it more interesting for the newcomer,-- the girl who didn't get a $20 million paycheck, who killed it in a difficult role -- to win? I hope the Hollywood Foreign Press Association thinks so, 'cause this girl deserves it!
