X17 XCLUSIVE PIX - CSI's Gary Dourdan Attacks Photog!

GDOURDAN071707_11.jpgGDOURDAN071707_01.jpgGDOURDAN071707_04.jpgGDOURDAN071707_03.jpgGary Dourdan GDOURDAN071707_15.jpgLast night outside of Hyde, CSI's Gary Dourdan violently attacked a paparazzo. According to our photog, Gary showed up after the club was already closed, looking like he was "under the influence of something." Gary asked the paparazzo to stop filming him, and when the photog wouldn't, Gary grabbed the camera and threw the photog to the ground. After the fight, Gary jumped on his bike and headed for the gas station, only to return to the scene immediately, where he attempted to follow the paparazzo.

This is the second time in one week that an innocent photographer was brutally attacked -- the former occurred outside the ESPY awards, where an X17 photog was thrown to the ground, suffering a concussion and broken ribs. It does seem that violence towards the paparazzi, many of whom are simply doing their jobs as any other photojournalists would, is happening more frequently. However inconvenient stars (or, in the case of the X17 photog, bystanders) might find having their photograph taken, there is simply no excuse for this type of behavior.

HI, MOM

Posted by: JenntheJellyBean

If you don't wanna be photo'd then get out of the business!!

These guys are only doing a job to pay the bills. When you make the decision to become famous then you have to accept the price that comes with it.

Posted by: Anonymous

Well...dam if someone doesn't want to be filmed they don't want to be filmed. Have some dam respect for people's personal life. He asked him to stop taping before he commenced to whooping his ass...and he had every right if you ask me. I'd have done the same. Paps are blood sucking vulture fiends! Serves him right. Bet he will stop taping next time...
lololololol

Posted by: Anonymous

It's because your job is to INTRUDE into peoples PRIVATE lifes. Even if they are outside they are still conducting their own lives.

Seems like more of you would get beat down A LOT more often, honestly!!!

but paparazi realy are too much abusive with celebrities sometimes... they need to respect more!

Posted by: Anonymous

Pap's need to learn to take good photos from a distance that lets people maintain their personal space. yes they have a job to do, but he has the right to not have a camera up in his face. He asked the camera man to turn off the camera. Guy wouldn't comply so he beat him. Good show Gary!!

Posted by: nina

Well its great in all that we do have photogs... to take the pics but.... some of them do cross the line... i see it as long as the person being photographed doesnt say anything and just ignores the paps... then its fine.. but if they ask not too. and to stop... then i think the pap should STOP.. especailly where there are kids involved..... ex remember princess Diana... we sure as heck don't want a replay of that... so back off guys/girls! it deserves them right to deck it out.... it just comes to a point where anyone would snap... call it ungreatful or say that it comes with postion of being famous... but whatever happened to just plan an simple RESPECT?

Posted by: anonymous

A black actor beats up a white photographer. Where's Rev. Al Sharpton? If it was a white actor who beat up a black photographer, Sharpie would be all over this.

Posted by: kbcan

Paps are getting more and more aggressive. That video of the paps hounding Britney's nanny/friend when she was coming out of the toy store and bothering her about what she bought was just ridiculous. Stop getting into people's faces and bothering them over mundane things!

Posted by: Anonymous

Excellent point made with the invasion of "personal space" in 9:53.....sorry, you guys get no sympathy from me.

Posted by: Anonymous

I heard the photog completely agreeded to put the camera away from gary and he pursued a fight. I understand a need for pesonal space not to the point of breaking body parts!

First of all...
an innocent photographer- Yeah Right.
Second...
Gary asked the paparazzo to stop filming him, and when the photog wouldn't-- Why didn't he stop. It appears the photog inflamed the situation.
And Finally...
It does seem that violence towards the paparazzi, many of whom are simply doing their jobs, is happening more frequently. However inconvenient stars (or, in the case of the X17 photog, bystanders) might find having their photograph taken, there is simply no excuse for this type of behavior- Photographers are pretty much just unemployed losers who don’t want be bartender or waitresses…So they invade other people lives instead of making something of their own. Don’t whine like babies when the people your bothering put you in your place

X17: You ommitted some of the facts.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER AGREED TO PUT HIS CAMERA DOWN BUT GARY STILL BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF HIM. THE PHOTOGRAPHER LEFT HIS CAMERA ROLLING JUST IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENED.

Posted by: Anonymous

Maybe when someone says they don't want their pictures taken, you guys should fucking listen.

there is nothing innocent about stalking someone...the guy was instructed to stop filming the guy...why can't these over zealous photographers listen when someone says no...the celebrities are getting tired of it and i don't blame them...i am not a violent person , but enough is enough..let us not forget what happen to princess di...she could live today to see her children graduate if these stalkarazzi weren't so close to follow her.

Posted by: Anonymous

dumbass got what was coming to him. haha. i love the way you guys worded this it actually sounds like dude wasn't in the wrong.

Posted by: Anonymous

That pap guy is kinda hot! Looks like James Blunt a little, but a lot hotter. Get a real job, then maybe you'll get hot dates!

Posted by: Anonymous

i enjoy coming here and reading about things, but he told the guy to turn the camera off and he didn't. if you want respect, you have to show respect. there are tons of camera hungry idiots out there. find one of them and leave the others alone. paris hilton's getting a little long in the tooth so why not prowl the streets and find someone younger and hotter, please hotter, to take her place. she's a creation of the tabloid media anyway. that should keep you guys busy for a while. but sorry. when a guy is just out doing his thing and you guys keep hounding him? you get what you deserve.

Posted by: Anonymous

the photo guy should turn to his mommy and ask for a band aid.
all respect to Warren, hope for you that the photog doesn't file a complaint.

Posted by: Anonymous

Oooohhhh ...he looks wasted!

Posted by: Anonymous

Boo fucking woo. The photog got knocked down, oh noes!

Sorry, I don't feel sympathy for the photog at all. If someone asks you to stop filming, stop fucking filming.

Posted by: kelz

who is this numbskull anyways? never heard of him, except for this belligerent behavior.

Posted by: Anonymous

He got what was coming, don't want a beating....stop taking pics when asked!

Posted by: Anonymous

Paparazzi should stick to paris and people still questioning why the media outlet seems too follow her everysecond, because she's harmless, smile to paparazzi and guarantee selling news

Posted by: Get Over It

The second someone signstheir first contract that puts them on screen or stage, they are handing off their rights to privacy. They know this. If it is such a problem, there are plenty other jobs out there.

Posted by: Kris

When ASKED to stop filming - Photogs need to STOP FILMING!!!
Or suffer consequences. You may post something bad about the celeb later, but you know what, they will still make million dollar movies. When asked to stop, just f*ckin stop.

paparazzi are the only non-incarcerated human commodity lower than "actors" and, depending on their personalities, drug dealers. this is like watching convicts fight in prison. with the exception of the smallest of shameless vicarious thrills, who cares? also, paparazzi photogs, etc., are in no way "journalists". los angeles is a good place for them.

Posted by: lil esme

black people are so ignerent

Posted by: Anonymous

SO WHY HASNT X17 CHARGED BRITNEY SPEARS WITH ASSAULT AND AND DAMAGES FOR THE PAPS SUV WHE BANGED UP WITH HER UMBRELLA IN FEBRUARY??

Posted by: April

THATS FUNNY

Posted by: Letitbe

Did u notice how small the pap's is? Why did'nt he go after a bigger dude?

Posted by: Anonymous

Kind of comes with the territory on both sides...celebrities make ass tons of money and sacrifice a lot to get it...they know they will get themselves snapped now and then, photogs also make an ass ton of money for the work they do (see mr. paparazzi's website for some pricing), and do it with the understanding they are undoubtedly going to eventually piss someone off. Just part of the lifestyle, I suppose. It's sad to see people like Brittany and Paris when you watch the video's, I mean, they go to the grocery store or other mundane thing, and have a swarm following them, but they could take themselves off the radar, if they wanted to. They could go to podunk Michigan and have some privacy if they wanted to for a couple weeks, ya know? THEY like the attention about 80% of the time, but someone like this...I betcha we dont' see a lot more pics of him flying around, and he is probably willing to get sued for it too :)

Posted by: Anonymous

Thats the way u treated when u filming Less than zero Mother Fuckers!!!
U Fucked Csi nobody !!!
Aways they pic the smallest one to do this Kind of shit...

Good lord he is justified in what he did. I wish people would start beating down paps more often, they they would get it through their effing head that what they are doing in not right. we are all as guilty as even for even reading these sites. we are they reason they are employed. But it has to start somewhere if they stopped our lives would keep on going.

paps need to back off, its rediculous. stars who get into the biz yes are asking for press and attention sometimes. But for the most part its for the love if it that they are doing it. Why should they be stalked daily for doing what they love and for following their dreams? PATHETIC!

Sadly however, it will never stop. paps will keep on existing and only getting more intrusive, I just hope they keep getting the shit kicked out of them as a warning what they are doing is wrong!

Posted by: Anonymous

The photographer has been on the Job for probobly less than a month in los angeles, looks like a camera supplied by TMZ,they have been instructed to keep filming no matter what, theres at least 20 paparazzi video people with no expereince on the street at night at restaurants and nightclubs,

Posted by: Anonymous

hee hee. poor photographer.

it's like raping someone after they've said no.

karma's a bitch.

Posted by: Just Doing Their Job

You guys need to make sure that you tell the whole truth. When he asked him to stop filming him, he put his camera down and he DID stop filming him. He however didn't shut the camera off, and rightly so. No one deserves to get beat down by just doing their jobs. I am not a big fan of Paris Hilton, but celebs can take a lesson or two on how to handle the pap's. She always makes sure to give them at lease a smile when they photograph her.

Posted by: LISTEN TO ME

I think people in the business need to know that paps will follow them around every where cause it is there job, and it's not just the paps fault the demand for more and more for the stars life who some just really want the attention (britney spears)sad, do people in the goverment who are followed everywhere kick someones ass no then why should some asshole get away with part of the job deal with it

Posted by: Anonymous

paprazzi are NOT real photojournalists.

Posted by: theShizaan

it's funny how this industry has grown to the size it has and yet still has not one ounce of ethics.

Posted by: Anonymous

innocent photog? you need your heads examined. no one deserves to get beat down, of course but that photog should have respected gary's wishes!!!!!!!!

Posted by: spencesmellslikepoop

Though a lot of these dudes go overboard - the law says one can't beat the crap out of someone else. If he tried that shit on me, i would have floored him, then spence - who smells like poop - would have shown up for the photo op

Posted by: Anonymous

Well maybe if you back off when they ask you to this wouldnt happen. Yes these are stars but they should have the right to ask you to back off. Maybe if the paparazzi backed off more often they would be more inclined to be photographed. I dont agree with him bieng physical but come on sometimes they want you to leave them alone and it isnt your right to take pics and video just because they are a star.

You take and post pictures of childrend privates and the beach that is just sick you take pictures of the stars children at daycare and then post the sign of the daycare to which they go to so any FREAK can track them down. I mean come on there should be a line even you dont cross.

Posted by: Anonymous

i'm going to start a new business - ill beat the shit out of paparazzi for celebs.. i bet i'd rake in the dough.

Posted by: Anonymous

DID YOU HONESTLY JUST CALL YOURSELVES PHOTOJOURNALISTS? YOU ARE NOTHING MORE THAN PAPARAZZI STALKERS!!!

Posted by: albrecht

neither paparazzi nor "actors" have rights. hollywood celebrities have completely whored themselves out in every way for this kind of attention so that they may then play "mirror, mirror on the wall" when the bottom-feeder/scavenger will-roll-in-shit-for-money paparazzi materialize from their leased autos to play commando. it's a circus through and through. no one's innocent. there is only complete apathy. becker and fagen were right in their comparison of living in los angeles as "living in a morgue." (still, it is a lot of fun!)

Posted by: Anonymous

rock on 10:58 , it's only a matter of time before someone else gets KILLED.

Posted by: Anonymous

All paparazzi deserve to get their asses beat. Fucking low-life scum of the fucking earth is what they are!

Yay!!! You go gary! I hope that tit aches for days!!!

He is lucky anynone is taking his picture. just goes to show that he has no class and should of stayed in the Ghetto.... These people think violence is so cool and the only answer thats why most of them never get anywhere in life except prision... Lock him up with Michael Vick.

It's so easy...

If you don't like the attention, get out of the business. Paparazzi have jobs too, ya know!?

I find it hilarious that people on here are saying things like: "Im glad he got beat down" but in fact, you're here on X17.com viewing the work of him and his peers. Can you say HYPOCRITE?

Posted by: Anonymous

#1. Paparazzi are NOT "photojournalists." That's as insulting as a stripper calling herself a "dancer." Paparazzi are parasites and bottom-feeders. #2. If a paparazzi is told by someone to get out of the way or stop taking photographs, they'd be wise to do so. It's up to the person, not the paparazzi, to decide if they want their private life recorded. Being famous doesn't automatically turn you into prey to be hunted. You're still entitled to personal privacy and the paps should respect that when someone says STOP. The paps aren't owed anything by anyone.

Posted by: Anonymous

Gary, stop appearing in tv show, movies if you don't want to be photographed... idiot

Posted by: Anonymous

Don't act like you care about your photogs X17, and don't try to convince us that they are good, caring decent human beings who deserve more respect than they're willing to give. In fact, look at the pictures, there ain't no paps trying to break this thing up or calm the situation. They'd let someone be killed before they stopped snapping, then they'd continue to take pics!

When you invade peoples personal space consistantly...you take the risk of a explosion. I am honestly surprised it doesn't happen more often.

The photog's are like the lil kids at the mexico border pushing chicklets!

I don't understand the scrutiny some people give celebrities by saying that their private time is public time and that it comes with them being a star. I totally disagree. This over zealous papzo's action just started a mere decade ago that photos outside of events, premires and so on became popular. You did not have celebrity gossip magazines like you do now, unless they were talking about the soaps, TV shows or movies. The gossip industry has grown to an all new level that hell even People Magazine who was a news magazine turned into a gossip rag. I don't think that because you are a celebrity that your private time outside of your "job" is invaded. That would be like the everyday worker being owned by his employer after work hours at his personal home. There is a cut off and it should be respected that if there is not a premiere or event that the stars are attending then that should be that. I am guilty myself of viewing a few sites a few times a week but I have even stopped buying magazines and I find myself viewing these sites less and less because I feel for these people who are trying to lead a somewhat normal life but they are put in cages like zoo animals for all to see and I chose to no longer be a supporter of it. The celeb's jobs are to either act in a movie or entertain us through music or public appearances but that does not give us the right to invade every ounce of their space because of who they are. There was a time you only heard about your favorite celeb's through one on one magazine articles, not anymore. Papzo's put the lives of others at risk just to get a photo and what is bad they don't just take a few photos they follow these poor lads from home to restaurants, vacations, or whatever and continue snapping until they are unable to snap them anymore because they are out of their view. That to me is intrusive enough. So to me the papzo's have no right to invade their space and as long as there is a thirst from the general public for more info on their favorite celebs the papzo's are not going anywhere because they are paid generously by the magazine exec's to get the million dollar shot! So, if we as a viewing public want this to end we would have to stop buying the gossip magazines, stop viewing the gossip sites and just wait for our favorie celebs to release their next new project or grant a personal interview to magazines like vogue, red book, etc. like they did years ago.

It is a person's right to take pics as long as they are not on private property. Not to mention the fact that if there wasn't an audience for these pics that the paps take (THIS WEBSITE AND OTHERS) then there wouldnt be any. People like yall who are commenting are exactly the same people perpetuating the cycle. ANd by the way , celebs LIVE to have their pics taken. If you want to live your life in the public then face the concept that you lose some privacy.

Posted by: laley

If the CSI actor didn't want to be photographed, THEN HE SHOULDN'T HAVE GONE TO HYDE!!! THERE ARE DOZENS OF PAPS THERE! IDIOT! I know the paps are aggressive but if he wants his privacy, there DOZENS of other low-key places in LA he could have gone to and Not be photographed! Celebs are fake and hypocrites because they say "Leave me alone," but then get mad and seek out attention if no one gives a shit about them anymore! I hope all this bad press gets him fired from his TV show, then his wish will come true and NO ONE WILL BOTHER TO TAKE HIS PICTURE... EVER!

Funny that everyone is downing paps ~ why do you log on to x17 then? You aren't researching anything here just reading the gossip and stories that they have. If you don't like the paps so much then stop reading the sites and mags. Also, I think the photog was in the right not the actor He gets paid millions for us to see him, and if he doesn't want us to see him geeked out don't go to Hyde to see your dealer!!!

Posted by: anonymous

The actor was high on something.

Posted by: Anonymous

--funny how most people here are blasting the paparazzi, yet you're all here on this site viewing their work!! --

Yea.. but I have a Britney spears obsession, so I only come here to see whats up with her. I only click on the other celebrities when stories involve her or seem interesting. ( like this on ).
Eva and her husband... no thanks. they don't interest me in the least.

Posted by: Anonymous

The photographer need to file a Police Report, and press charges. If the City Atty won't press charges, then there is more to the story then the pictures reveal. The Photo guy can also hire a lawyer and file a civil suit. Good luck...with an L.A. Jury.

Posted by: Jamie

12:11 It's a person's right to take pictures if not on private property. You are right it is, therefore it should be the celeb's right to run over the person on public property who are in the middle of the street running in front of there car to get the pic. I agree they should be allowed to take a pic, but don't fucking run in front of a car to get a picture then sue the celeb for money because they hit you! Fucking pieces of shit!!!!!!

i agree that they are doing their job but they have taken that job too far..even celebrities need some space.

Posted by: Hil

GOOD FOR HIM!!! Maybe the paparazzi should learn some respect for other peoples space. Seems like your mamma didnt teach you too well. And you thought some of the stars have problems, Maybe their biggest problem is you, Lets see if you guys didnt stalk every move they make, they wouldnt have so many problem. A professional photographer needs to get a signature from a person before they publish anyones picture. You are paparazzi Not a photographer you get in peoples way cause stress, accidents, Tax payer dollars for police, give me a break I see lots of law suits coming your way. Gimme a break.

Posted by: no

Hmmm, let's see.

"Gary asked the paparazzo to stop filming him, and when the photog wouldn't, Gary grabbed the camera and threw the photog to the ground."

I love how this photog was "innocent." Hilarious. Get a clue already.

Posted by: Shelly

I don't blame him. I can imagine sometimes these 'stars' want to be left alone. It's crazy. I like some photographs of the stars but is it really necessary to photograph their every waking move? This guy is going out to a bar...leave him alone if he asks you to do so. R-E-S-P-E-C-T !! I don't know how people like Paris and the others can take all of the flashes all of the time. No wonder these people are messed up and crazy (and Paris is messed up it seems..she tries to look happy but she's got somethings going on inside of herself for sure..that's obvious). I say, if a person asks you to stop taking their picture then do so. If they don't mind then take it. Perhaps if you give them peace when they want it they will smile for you when you want them to.

Posted by: albrecht

neither the hollywood celebrity nor the papparazzi could exist without one another, especially in these times. it's bullshit. the line between the two is also very, very thin. the paparazzi are probably failed or aspiring actors and the successful actors will cry and cry when the attention falls away. meanwhile, the trash of p.r., mgmt and agencies watch from their lofty heights, too good to really have anything to do with such nonsense, yet too cowardly and without the courage to put themselves on the line. welcome to los angeles! wheee!

If you don't want to photographed, go to IHOP instead of Hyde. That's like sitting on the patio at the Ivy and being surprised the fotogs are there.

BTW - who the F**k is Gary Dourdan?

YEAH YEAH X17, IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED YOU WOULD BE SINGING A DIFFERENT TUNE. MAYBE IT'S TIME TO CHANGE PROFESSIONS IF YOU'RE GOING TO CRY.

"photojournalists" Puleeeze. Paps are the lowest form of scum on the earth. Please beat more of them.

Posted by: Anonymous

Fuck the photog... they harass the shit out of people, and make a nuisance of themselves... I'm sure somewhere down the line he deserved to have his pussy little ass beat down...

Posted by: Anonymous

I agree with everyone here. You pops cross the line. I mean if I were Britney or someone like that and had you in my face 24/7 and probably be in jail by now. I see the video's with you pieces of crap everywhere. There's like 50 of you guys getting in the celebs way as they walk, in fron to front of their cars as they try to leave, in the flippen drive thru windo while the get a burger. Seriously, it may be a job but to me, it's more like stalking. If any normal person were followed around 24/7 by any other normal person they would have a restraining order with no problem. It's pretty much stalking if you ask me!

Nah, this black dude was higher than shit on something. After he beat the white dude he got on his bike and chased the white dude's car for 15 minutes. Nobody who is stable does that.

You go girl, I'm impressed.

this is so not a black/white thing, this is a function of hollywoodland and does nothing more than reveal the level of behavoir required to survive as either version of scum -- that is, actor or paparazzi. they are but two spokes on the hollywood wheel of scum to which x17 is dedicated and to which all of us subscribe for bullshit laughs. none of this has value. no one cares at ALL about either of those would-be/might-be convicts but themselves. if someone can make a dime off of their bizarrely naked interaction, that person wins. in this case, x17, way to go!

Posted by: Anonymous

'innocent' photographer....well if the idiot photographer stopped taking pictures then he wouldn't have been hurt! no sympathy whatsoever for paparazzi when hurt

Posted by: mental violence of the paparazzi

The paparazzo provocated the violence. He was asked to stop. The paparazzo didn't stop to film, though.

It's a different kind of violence - not physical but mental violence - to take photos of people who don't like to be photographed.

Teach your photogs to stop if someone asks them to stop. Then x17 doesn't have to complain about violence.

Posted by: Dalton

let's settle everything with bloodshed! If you don't want to be photograph then don't go to a hollywood hot spot. Everyone that goes to these types of clubs want to be photographed. I think this loser from CSI wanted some attention

While I do think that the paparazzi invade privacy too much and do not respect the requests of people, I don't believe violence is the answer. Both sides are at fault here.

it was a tmz pap.and he had no right to put his hands on that pap. he could have just as easily walked in to the club, and that would have been the end of it. i mean his pic prolly isnt worth much money. if he didnt want to be photograped he shouldnt have gone to a place where paps are always hanging out at. the pap was doing what he always does, he didnt ask that gary dude to show up. i hope that pap sues him. and if u people hate the paps so much then stop looking at sites and buying magazines that get their pics from there. u are the ones paying the paps bills, cuz the websites and magazines make their money from their viewers who look at this stuff.

You all are something else. But you are NOTHING compared to what this guy is getting on the TMZ website. They are dogging this photographer, and they are pointing out a lot of good points in that video.

The video showed nothing but the ground and him crying like a whining baby. People are calling him a whining Gerber baby, and that his video looked like ‘The Blair Witch Project” with all that shaking as he was running down the street. Everybody ignored this young boy as he was crying about NOBODY being behind him chasing him.

He sounded ridiculous and now with a few more of these, the paps will learn that these people may like the camera in the studio but their private lives are different. Leave them alone when they ask you nicely, Paps.

The hollywood stars want to be seen sometimes, others they want to be normal. Why do paps thnk when anyone famous is out they need to chase them down? I understand its their job and it pays the bills, but someone asks you to step off you do so, not keep going. Paps think they are special and they aren't then you never know if the photo they took was fixed or not because the pas kie to get more $$$. Just like tabloids like Star and the Enquier. What a bunch of horse turds! I still respect you Gary you asked him to get out you face first, at least you were trying.

Posted by: Dont Be a Hypocrate!

I love how everyone here is saying that the paparazzo deserved it, they are intruding into a celebrities life...well you are on a paparazzi website looking at pictures of celebrities taken by paparazzi. Isn't that called hypocritical, you two faced assholes. Of course, its okay to enjoy the work the paparazzi do but they should get punished for it. Paparazzi are nothing more than "PHOTO JOURNALIST". WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT THEY DO AND WHAT A REGULAR JOURNALIST DOES?! Don't you think regular photo journalist have to intrude into a person life to report whats going on with them. Don't you think that when Katie Couric reports she is invading the privacy of the people she is reporting on. Don't you think that when a war photo journalist takes a pictures of a dying soldier or an injured child he is invading their privacy. You don't give a shit though because they are not famous. NO one is throwing their arms up in the air and accusing these photo journalist of anything. Why are paparazzi different???? They are documenting the life of "public figures" important to our culture. People are damm hypocritical and I am so sick of it. Celebrities work so hard to get to the point where they are famous enough for paparazzi to even care about them. If you don't like the work of the paparazzi then why the fuck are you on this site. I guess you need to get a reality check and look in the mirror and ask yourself why am I such a hypocrate?!!

Papparazzi are the biggest parasites on earth at the moment. I believe violence is what they have coming to them and I'm all for it personally. Maybe after a dozen or so of them are killed, as they contributed to the killing of Diana and surely more to come, they'll pick a legitimate profession to occupy their time.

Posted by: Photojournalist

First of all, it's hypocrite. Second, it is an insult to compare photojournalists with the paparazzi. Photojournalists take pictures to record important events in images. These images speak of what are relevant to humanity. They do not take mundane pictures like Paris Hilton buying a taco or Britney Spears sipping cappuccino. Thirdly, for photojourlists taking pictures is an art. I doubt the paparazzi consider it the same way. As for the attack, the man clearly asked for it. If he turned off his camera when he was asked, he wouldn't have landed on the pavement. Ask for hazard pay, camera dude! Invading people's privacy is quite a risky job.

my favorite of all of these posts comes from the anonymous and "don't be a hypocrite" posters (probably the same person, probably works for this site and/or is a paparazzi sub-human leach "artist"/"journalist"). my point is only that the celebrities are nearly as shameless and self-promoting as the below-janitor-level (i do much respect janitors, actually) gnats running around los angeles with cameras going for "exclusive" prints. X17 is a fun site to visit, hypocritical or not. i don't see how anyone can defend either celebrity or paparazzi given that the conflicting qualities/actions of both are wholly self-promoting. as icons, they're targets for destruction and the paparazzi works both sides of the street, like the dime-priced, immoral whores they are. "local boys will spend a quarter just to shine the silver bowl/living hard will take its toll/illegal fun under the sun".

Posted by: Don't be a hypocrite!

Dear Photo Journalist,
You say that a regular photo journalist takes images that speak of what is relevant to humanity, well newsflash for you, Celebrities influence the world more in today's society than any political figure you can think of from these last 20 years. The majority of society does not look up to political figures to choose how to dress and act, they look up to their favorite celebrities. Celebs have such a huge impact in the world that I think it is foolish and small minded to think that images paparazzi take are mundane. Twenty years from now people will look at paparazzi pictures to see how people dressed, acted, and what influenced society at the time. Think about paparazzi pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Jackie-O 20 years ago. We look at these pictures today and they gives us a window into that era. So will paparazzi pictures of today. Besides the point, reporters and photo journalist use paparazzi images on their newscasts, shows, and steal their information and pass it as their own work. You cannot go to any "credible" news site, ex. CNN, without hearing about celebrities news. So if their work is so mundane, then why are they the most sough after news in the whole world. Think about it!

The paparazzi need to know the limit on people's privacy. Funny how they can stalk people with their cameras, and that is okay. Enough is enough already. It's gotten WAY too out of control and THAT'S why the famous are acting out with violence. They can't even get in their own cars for god's sake. The paparazzi are blocking their way, flashes in their face, blinding them. That's why most wear sunglasses all the time. Sheesh! I don't feel one bit sorry for the ones who don't know when to BACK OFF!

Hehe....the pap didn't get beat down, unless y;ou consider them wrestling for the camera and both of them falling to the ground getting beat down.
From what I see or hear on the tape not one punch was thrown.
Hell if the guy was in fear of his life why didn't he call 911 on his cell? The pap is going to get laughed out of court by the judge if this video is all he has.

I agree that we are only feeding your pathetic exsistence by looking at these type of websites but if it is there then you do look out of curiousity but there is no getting away from the fact that paps are scum and deserve all the beatings they can get, I say bravo to this actor and if the likes of Britney spears stopped courting the paps so much then maybe they would leave other famous people alone. It is not acceptable to harrass people and invade there personal spaces at parks with there kids so that you can make money out of them. I say everyone who sees a pap should give them a slap just for the hell of it.
I bet this scummy photographer will now sue this actor for every penny he can yet they would not dare touch Britney after she attacked them with an umbrella as she provides them with so much work!!!!!! SCUMMY PAPS, SCUMMY PAPS, SCUMMY PAPS, SCUMMY PAPS,SCUMMY PAPS, SCUMMY PAPS,SCUMMY PAPS, SCUMMY PAPS,SCUMMY PAPS, SCUMMY PAPS,SCUMMY PAPS, SCUMMY PAPS. How do you sleep at night or even get up in the mornings.

Spoiled brat celebrities! They beg for attention until they decide they are famous, then they whine or in this case and others - decide to get violent because they are annoyed by cameras. You don't like the attention, don't go to f*cking Hyde you asshole attention whore celebrities!

Posted by: Anonymous

The mini-van majority love to defend the honor of their favorite celebrities, who by the way don't give a damn about you commoners, except when they pretend to care in order to get you to part with your money. Such saps and suck-ups to the celebrities. These "stars" laugh at you and know they can do anything they want because of you people who think they can do no wrong, even when they get violent.

Posted by: Anonymous

Oh God, have you ever heard about the "right to familiar and personnel privacy"?

You all paps need to stop it when people ask you to. If a "starlet" calls you to say where is she/he going to be (a club or whatever), it's ok because in that case they want the paps attention.
But I think you DEFINITELY cross the line when they don't want to be photographed. So stop acting like martyrs!!

Posted by: Anonymous

So funny the hypocrisy of the idiots on here blaming the paps - what the f*%# are you doing on this site if you don't love the paps? Go read some reader's digest or something if you hate the paps so much

Posted by: Danielle

Gary,
Don't stop appearing in movies, shows, and definitely DO NOT stop appearing in CSI. DO get help if you were truly under the influence of something.

What's the difference of the guy stopping the shoot and keeping it rolling? Gary asked him to put it away. He didn't. Just because Gary - and any other celeb- are filmed during their working hours does not mean they want to be filmed ALL the time.

And you're right - Paps (sounds like a procedure at the doctor's office) are not photojournalists. They are ones who failed at getting a real job and have to suck the life blood out of others to make a living.

Posted by: Anonymous

Funny the people defending the creep that attacked the photog and are doing nothing the dissin the Paps, yet they are here, reading up to the minute gossip and getting some of the best pictures and videos of celebs offered on the net. What are you doing on a site like this in the first place if you hate the Paps so much? Seems like you feed on their work or you wouldnt be here in the first place.
Celebs are OVER PAID and OVER RATED anyhow and they also LOVE the attention in the beginning but once they get big heads and think that they are the greatest thing out there since swiss cheese, all of a sudden the fans are nothing but low lifes and the Paps, the photogs that FEED the fans that made their sorry asses famous want to cry about their privacy.
I dont feel sorry for any celeb...not one bit. I hope that guy sues the crap out of that jerk. I never even heard of his sorry a$$!

Typical gangsta thug nigger!

Posted by: Anonymous

Personally I think as with every story there are two sides. These photos only show the side of the photogs. If someone was trying to take something from me the first thing is to protect it with your body. Obviously this is what the photog was doing, none of these photos show the actor actually hitting the photog, simply trying to take the camera. If anything he was attacking the camera and not the photog. By now anyone in this business should know that there is always the possibility of these sorts of things happening. This profession carries with it a certain degree of danger.
I think the actor is like anyone and had a breaking point. He should have to pay for any damages to the camera and equiptment but as to any injuries, well this was a mutual scuffle over the camera and photogs should consider this a part of the job. If he sought to run over the photog with his bike then thats a whole different story. The "sensationalism" of the article title captures reader's interest more than saying "scuffle over camera" would.

Idiots! It doesn’t matter what he asked. He’s in a public place. He’s fair game. That’s their life. It’s part of being famous. Gary should have shown some personal restraint. When the photographers go onto private property that’s when they are crossing the line. This was just someone trying to control someone else through violence and threat.

So deserved. To many of you idiots shove a camera in front of someones face to make a few bucks. Hell, Paris Hilton couldnt even buy some food without you aholes taking a pic of it.

People like you and this website are the reason why we lost Princess Diana. but wait. You are always the "innocent" ones

Posted by: Anonymous

Hated for this to happen, but, the Gary and all celebs deserve their privacy...to be left alone when asked. Princess Di lost her life, trying to escape from the paps, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger had trouble just trying to get home with their newborn baby. So many other celebs have problems with those guys. Woody Harolson was being stalked one night out on the street until he just attacked the photographer and his camera. Then after the altercation, the guy is out in the middle of the street trying to flag down a police car. If he had left him alone, he would not have had that to do. Gary asked the guy more than once to turn off the camera, but he didn't do it. So one thing led to another. I truly hope this does not interfere with his job on CSI, cause he is well loved on that show!

And as for the persons who made the racial comments about black people, " they are ignerent" well it seems to me you are the ignorant one. The word is spelled ' ignorant '. Also to you who used the term ' nigger ', we can see by that that you are as much a 'low-life ' as the cameramen are.

What stupid people. So if I ask for your wallet and you don't give it to me I would be right to kick the crap out of you. It's ok, since I ASKED right. This is the kids job. He wasn't touching Gary. And Gary isn't the guys boss, so he can ask all he wants it doesn't matter the duy didn't even have to lower the camera. Get on your bike and ride off. Don't try to steal someone's camera and livelyhood just cause you feel put upon. What a crock!

HAve SOME RESPECT FOR PEOPLES PRIVACY

Posted by: Anon

You cheer this guy for attacking the photog, but why are you viewing these sites if you think celebrities deserve privacy?

Who is this guy? I've never heard of him. I hope the police were called, and this guy on the motorcycle is prosecuted to the hilt!!

The point is, there should be a distinction between the paparazzi and photojournalists. A paparazzo takes pictures showing celebrities going about their daily tasks. Most of which are used to fan gossip, to spread negative rumors, and to zoom in on their flaws. Photojournalists, on the other hand, take pictures that appeals to humanity's intelligence, emotions, and aesthetics. Photojournalists take pictures that impacts the present and will impact the future. Pictures that will go down the annals of history. A picture of Britney Spears' vagina hardly appeals to people's intelligence and aesthetics. A picture of Paris Hilton eating taco hardly appeals to emotions. Photojournalists' pictures are characterized by 1)Timeliness — the images have meaning in the context of a published chronological record of events.
2) Objectivity — the situation implied by the images is a fair and accurate representation of the events they depict.
3)Narrative — the images combine with other news elements, to inform and give insight to the viewer or reader.
Bottomline is, do recognize the difference in quality, purpose, and significance of the images captured by photojournalists and the paparazzi.

The point is, there is a BIG difference between the work of a photojournalist and a paparazzi. Genuine photojournalists actually attended programs in photojournalism. Most paparazzi just picked up a camera and chased after the celebrity whose picture can yield the most money. Photojournalists are after images that reflect major events that appeal to humanity's intelligence, emotions, and aesthetics. The more universal the images, the better. Photojournalists make sure their pictures show the following: 1)Timeliness — the images have meaning in the context of a published chronological record of events.
2)Objectivity — the situation implied by the images is a fair and accurate representation of the events they depict.
3)Narrative — the images combine with other news elements, to inform and give insight to the viewer or reader.
Bottomline, do recognize the differences in quality, purpose, and significance of the work of photojournalists from that of the paparazzi.

Posted by: stop being hypocritical!

Photojournalist are just jaded because they paid major money to college and get paid 1/3 of a good paparazzi's salary. Get over it. Your job is not any different and no one really pays attention to your work anymore. Oh yeah...there are plenty of scummy journalist out there, just like there are scummy paparazzi. Every profession has good and bad. Its sad that you are so bias towards paparazzi. But whatever, go work on your boring news stories that no one cares about. I've seen plenty of "photojournalist" pictures that have no influence in the world. Stop being so self-righteous!

Posted by: sticktotheissue

Stop being hypocritical,

Do you even know how the word paparazzo evolved? The definition of the word itself defines the demarcation line between the work of photojournalists and paparazzi. It's disappointing that we cannot discuss an issue without attacking people's personalities. A sad reflection of the degeneration of some members of society's ability to disagree agreeably. Arrivederci!

Defenders of my trade, your overwhelming support boosts my confidence to unceasingly pursue celebrities in all their glory, most importantly, in every state of discomfiture for your enjoyment and derision. Your defense of me is deeply appreciated. Thanks a million!

nice shoes, doing well for himself that pap.

I don't like the paparazzi, but I also don't like it when someone blows stuff out of proportion and tries their best to seriously injure someone. It seems like people think the answer to every single annoyance is extreme violence or killing. Yeah, you people who are always like "I would have done much worse" well good for you, psycho.

Are you kidding me, innocent photogs, no way. These people do not leave celebs alone, they are rude, and dangerous. They deserve to get the shit beat out of them every once and awhile! If they are so concerned get an office job. They are trying to make money off of another person fame. It is the slimiest job ever. Get a little self respect!

HAHA.. thats awesome! i'd do the same thing if a camera was in my face 24/7... those photogs are ruthless. i hope more celebs kick their asses for fun! lol

Posted by: Anonymous

what you gonna do if you have a camera 24/24h in your face!???

Love u Gary! dont give a shit about that!!!

Posted by: Anonymous

Inocent? Please-even celebrities deserve a level of provacy. If they ask you to leave them alone then LEAVE THEM ALONE!!! I'd throw your ass to the ground if you got in my face, too.

Posted by: Anonymous

Photogs have no room to cry when they get beat up. If they don't want to get a beating they too need to find another job! All they are out to do is make money for whoever they work for, scandal sells boreing everyday lives of celebrities does not. Therefore, photogs go to severe measures to get scandal pics that make them money. The only guilty persons in this would be the people who buy these mags. Without the readers photogs wouldn't need to stalk celebs. PUBLIC- GUILTY, Gary Dourdan- caught in the middle. VERY SAD! Stop pointing the finger at Gary when the public demands this type of entertainment!

Are you people just dumb and see only what you want to see? This man is not getting his Ass kicked. There are no pictures of any punches, kicks, jabs, or swings.

What you see is an angry actor attempting to take the camera away and the dumb videographer struggling to hold onto it. He is obviously pulling the camera away from the actor and lays down on the ground while pulling the camera.

He was not slammed or knocked down to the ground. He pulled himself backwards to the ground. If you notice not one picture captures a punch or a body slam. Just Gary standing over the guy still trying to pull the camera away. The guy still has the camera in his hand! He is trying to protect his footage and not himself - why? Because he was never being hit or attacked!

This is such a farce! The video after the fact, which rivals that of The Blair Witch Project, shows nothing but black and you hear the bad acting of a dishonest individual milking an incident.

Come on people. By the way, what does race have to do with it. And all of you folks that think because a person chooses to act as a profession, and luckily has success, that they no longer have the right not to be photographed is WRONG.

A law should be passed that allows celebrities to file harassment charges against photographers when they are invading their privacy outside of red carpet events - where press has permission.

The average civilian can file charges if someone followed them around the grocery store snapping pictures of them or their children.

It's unfair and the jealous public love to see successful people put in these situations. Get a life that's not so miserable and maybe you wouldn't love to watch other peoples lives be destroyed. This is what feeds the money hungry dishonesty of the press. They are the pigeons and rats of the industry.
