Gavin DeGraw is recovering after a brutal beating in New York City early Monday.
The "Not Over You" singer was released from Bellevue Hospital Tuesday morning. Just hours after being released, Gavin sent his first Tweet, thanking fans for their support. He wrote:
- "Hi my friends. Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys."
According to his official website, he had been taken to the hospital late Sunday night after being attacked by a group of strangers in the East Village. He had stumbled about a mile away, where he was then hit by a taxi. An ambulance had originally taken him to Bellevue, where he was treated for a concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises. Police are conducting an investigation.

Gavin is currently on tour with Maroon 5 and Train and is promoting his upcoming album Sweeter, out September 20.
He has cancelled his August 12 Wantagh, N.Y., and August 13 Mansfield, Mass., performances, as well a scheduled appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly that was to take place Wednesday.
The singer was raised in Upstate New York and is currently a Manhattan resident. He and his brother co-own a bar on East Houston Street in Manhattan called National Underground, located not far from the scene of the beating.
