Duff In Cuffs!

Things may have taken a turn for the worse for the Lohan family lately - but at least they're not getting hauled off in handcuffs like the Duffs!
Party Time?
According to the Houston Chronicle, Hilary and Hailey Duff's parents Bob and Susan appeared in court for the latest round in their divorce proceedings - this time, to discuss the pressing issue of Hilary's upcoming 21st birthday party. Susan was looking for a cool $25,000 to buy her daughter a present and throw her a party, claiming that the $10,000 Bob pays her per month is "not enough to pay my own bills", let alone cover expensive gifts.
But the court had a little extra business to attend to with Bob, accused of violating an injunction by selling off assets without court approval. Bob was ordered to pay the full value of the sale ($367,537) into a court repository - and to spend ten days in jail for contempt of court!
"Mad At Hilary"?
Bob's lawyer Robert Piro went on the attack in defense of his client's bank account, pointedly asking Susan whether her "adult millionaire daughter" would be upset if she didn't get a party and a gift from her folks. Susan responded by pointing out that Bob had purchased plenty of presents for his girlfriend's sons, and that her daughter had been "emotionally upset by the abandonment of her father" and ought to have "some kind of recognition for a young life well-lived."
A few minutes later, it was Bob's turn on the hot seat, as he faced questions about his gift-buying habits in the past. Susan's lawyer Marshall Davis Brown really got Bob sweating with questions about gifts he'd purchased for Haylie in the past, pointing out that he'd spent $25,000 on her big 21st b-day. When Bob affirmed that he wanted Hilary to get the same kind of gift her big sister got, Brown pounced, asking Bob "You're not mad at Hilary, are you?" Bob was reportedly so shaken by the question that he hesitated before answering, during which time Brown withdrew the question.
Bob was ultimately ordered to pay Susan $12,500 for his share in Hilary's birthday. Yikes - Bob may have gotten his day in court, but it sure didn't come cheap!
As Bob was being led off in cuffs, he informed a reporter that a gag order would prevent him from going on the record. "I wish I could," he said. "I've got a lot to say."
Sounds like this split might actually get a whole lot worse - if that's even possible!
Cheer up, Hil - twelve and a half grand still buys one heck of a party!

I smell a tell all story from Daddy to seek revenge against Hilary. He does have a lot to say. After the case, he's definitely going to get his turn to stabe the knife in the back. He's going to talk and talk like Micheal Lohan. Hilary better not have some skeletons in the closets because she's going to be screwed and flame by the blogs.

it's sad to hear about this, but at least hilary's mom is fighting for her daughters, and only wants the best for them. for those of you thinking hilary should buy her own gifts and throw her own party, why would ANYONE do that?! do YOU buy your own gifts? No matter how rich you are, when you're in the business, parents always buy you gifts. and when your parents have money, THEY throw the children parties. hilary's father has the money, he owns a chain of convenience stores in texas! duh! this is all part of the divorce! the dad is SUPPOSED to give the mom money! in his situation, he has to, and should just give the money. at least hilary's mom doesn't have favorites, and wants to be fair w/ the amount of money for birthdays. Poor Hilary though, she's always been so gracious, classy, beautiful, and talented. you can say otherwise, but it's true. She's always maintained her dignity, and you can't deny that. she's not like all those other teen sluts flashing there vaginas, going to rehab, and taking naked pics. i hope hilary gets that big birthday bash. 21 is a milestone age, and definetly can't go uncelebrated! it's a big birthday for most ppl, so for a super famous girl, $25,000 for a gift and party isn't a lot! hope they get through this!
