It's because they are two well developped and independant personalities and they love each other for who (s)he is.
That's incomparable to all those couples who try so hard to convince the world (and themselves) that the magic is still there, while their inner dependance is something no one else than themselves can solve. And by expecting the other to do that, the love is burned up till nothing is left over.
