James Franco Reveals Why He's More Interested In Gay Roles
Posted on Thu Sep 9, 2010 01:20 PM PDT
The other day James Franco revealed his love for jerking it, and now the actor gets serious and chats with The Advocate about playing iconic gay poet Allen Ginsberg in the upcoming flick Howl.
When asked if he would admit it if he were gay, Franco replies, “Sure, I’d tell you if I was. I guess the reason I wouldn’t is because I’d be worried that it would hurt my career. I suppose that’s the reason one wouldn’t do that, right? But no, that wouldn’t be something that would deter me. I’m going to do projects that I want to do. Everyone thinks I’m a stoner, and some people think I’m gay because I’ve played these gay roles. That’s what people think, but it’s not true. I don’t smoke pot. I’m not gay."
So why does Franco continue to portray gay men? Franco says he finds these roles both more interesting and more challenging. “In this history of cinema, there are so many heterosexual love stories,” Franco tells the mag. “It’s so hammered, so done. It’s just not that interesting to me. It’s more interesting to me to play roles and relationships that haven’t been portrayed as often.”
Good for him!

Earth to Franco, gay roles are gross. Except for the gay boys and their "sophisticated" friends, most people are put off. Shopping with gay boys is one thing, but spending money to see them with another guy is going too far.
CUZ HE IS SOOOOOOOO HOOOOT he can do wevrs the F he wants.... hes a greta actor ..& I love every single role (big or small) he was or is in..hes a confident man..and a REAL 1....love ya
I find it hard to believe that he doesn't smoke weed
2:13, too funny. I will miss any of his roles where he plays a gay man. Movies like Milk win awards because the PC crowd wants to placate these people. Behind closed doors, everyone is sickened by it all.
