J. Lo Thought She Deserved An Oscar For El Cantante

Jennifer Lopez graces the February 2010 cover of Latina mag, and she chats about her marriage to Marc Anthony, fame, and even some of her past lovers. I love J. Lo to death, but when the topic shifted to her work and why she felt like she deserved an Oscar nod for El Cantante, I found myself smirking a bit.
When asked why El Cantante was Oscar worthy, J. Lo replied:
- “I feel like I had that [Oscar worthy role] in El Cantante, but I don't even think the academy members saw it. I feel like it's their responsibility to do that, to see everything that’s out there, everything that could be great ... It was funny; when the Oscars were on, I had just given birth on the 22nd, and the Oscars, I think, were a day or two later. I was sitting there with my twins - I couldn’t have been happier - but I was like, 'How dope would it have been if I would've won the Oscar and been here in my hospital bed accepting the award?' Thank you so much! I just want to thank the academy! But we joked about it. It’s all good. Things will happen when they're supposed to happen. I have the utmost faith and no doubt that it will one day, when and if it’s supposed to. You can’t get all crazy twisted over it."
Maybe if she had gotten nominated it would have been one thing, but c'mon J. Lo! You gotta be realistic here!

Unless you're are familiar with FANIA in the 70's salsa music scene in NYC, you probably can't appreciate the movie.

I am not a hater.. Jennifer Lopez had done well for herself. Yes she has had a few not so great films but she has managed to create great wealth for herself which is more than can be said for the people writing these posts. While you hate on her she is living in the lap of luxury that she had created for herself.. Good for you mama!!! Alot of people didn't get El Cantante because the don't know the story of Hector Lavoe. I think this movie was great. It was a very tragic story about a very troubled but very talented man. Those that don't know his music and have not listened to his lyrics could never appreciated the film. I do believe that Marc Anthony who I think is a very talented singer should have been recognized for this film. He played a great role and looked so much like Hector in this movie. All people saw was that to Puertorican were making a salsa movie and didn't even give it a chance. Expand your narrowminded way of thinking and maybe you can appreciate the film which did not get the recognition it deserved. And for all the stereotypical and racist comments made, Jennifer will take those comments and wipe her million dollar ass with them, probably with bathroom tissue that has cold trimming while you live your miserable lives wishing you lived like her...lmao
