Who Knew Jewel Had A Killer Bod?!

Jewel graces the July cover of Shape magazine, and we haven't heard much from the singer over the past few months, but she's certainly back on our radar now! After being labeled "the chubby Renee Zellweger” when she first made a name for herself, Jewel reveals she was extremely self-conscious about her body.
“My feelings were so hurt by that story, I ended up bingeing on an entire cake," she tells the mag. "Afterward, I actually tried to throw it all up, but thankfully I couldn’t do it. It made me think, ‘I can’t go down this road.’ I had seen so many performers develop eating disorders or try to control their weight with drugs, and I decided I would do no harm to my body.” Yikes!
Jewel has since developed a much healthier body image, adding, “We should be more like men, God bless ‘em. They can take their shirts off and show their man boobs, and they don’t give a hoot. But women are so critical of themselves. We can be gorgeous and hot and still be embarrassed to wear a tank top. So if you can’t stop looking in the mirror, at least try to not think badly about yourself when you do.”
Aww, good for her! And we're definitely digging her curves!

she's sexy, regardless of her size. airbrushed true but the shape is hers. i like what she said. i have a hard time wearing a tank top!!! and i have a nice body, lean and relatively fit! it's crazy what the head can do...

*Society* is so critical of women.Society validates women based on their looks.And insecurity about women's bodies and trying to live up to a false narrow beauty standard is drilled into girls' heads since the minute they are born-what with Barbie dolls and Disney princesses only succeeding because of their beauty.Just look at that self-congratulating asshole on 2:23 thinking s/he is a spokesperson for the male gender and making a misogynist comment about Paris,Nicole Lindsay's body types - something that is out of their control - to comment on his personal prefered body type.(You don't have to insult other women or make generalizations,dick).Just look at the magazine cover:Drop 10 lbs,8 ways to lose faster,get sexier bodies...GEE,I wonder WHY girls are so insecure about their bodies!

Can't believe people called her 'the chubby Renee Zellweger', if anything I would have have called her 'the more HEALTHY looking Renee Zellweger' (when she's not Bridget Jones who wouldn't feel big next to her skin and bones, yet still maintaining a face that looks like a hamster with it's cheeks full of food).
