Billy Corgan On John Mayer: He's "Burning His Career Into The Ground"

After John Mayer gave his now infamous interview to Playboy comparing ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson to "crack cocaine," most critics wrote it off as the mouthy singer being immature and hungry for attention. However, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan (who has also been tied to the busty blonde recently) has a different take on the situation, and he tells Rolling Stone he attributes John's colossal screw up to a failing career!
Billy tells the mag:
- “He’s trying to destroy his career. Rather than take a year off or change his musical direction… some part of it is irritating his soul to the point where he’s trying to blow it up. Certainly a talented guy, but empathetically, standing on the sidelines, it’s hard to watch someone literally burn their career to the ground — speaking as somebody who’s done it.”
On John spilling the dirty details of his sexual escapades with Jess, Billy said:
- “As far as it pertains to her. I think for any person who has celebrity to sort of drop rocks at somebody else’s feet like that — there’s things you should really just keep your mouths shut on. There’s things that should just be left alone.”

He does not know what relationship is and how to treat women. He wants to use them to get attention.
Too bad he is going downhill. Jessica and Jennifer are flying high on their own road and he is left behind in their dust, whining.
