Broadway Becoming Chocoholic - Charlie And The Chocolate Factory To Be New Staged Musical
Posted on Fri Oct 2, 2009 11:59 AM PDT

Warner Bros. is apparently developing a Broadway musical based on their 2005 Tim Burton film, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, starring Johnny Depp.
But this time, Burton won't be involved, says Risky Biz. Sam Mendes is going to produce through his Neal Street Prods., with an eye towards directing as well.
David Greig, who wrote "Damascus," "The American Pilot" and "The Architect," will write the book while Hairspray's Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will supply the music.
A Wonka without Depp or Burton? Do we want to see that?
Although Mendes is no slouch either!
