Johnny Depp Apologizes For Controversial Rape Comment

Posted on Wed Oct 5, 2011 10:15 AM PDT

JDeppPirates050711_09_X17230WM.jpgJohnny Depp is now apologizing for a recent comment he made to Vanity Fair in which he compared having his photograph taken ... to being raped.

The actor has issued the following apology:

"It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling. I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology."

In the VF interview, the Pirates of the Caribbean star had said being photographed "feel[s] like you're being raped somehow. Raped ... It feels like a kind of weird -- just weird, man."

Do you accept Johnny's apology?

"Rape " does not only mean sexual physical abuse. Politically correct people need to seek further education, especially concerning the English language with more than one definition for many words.

1:41 PM, Oh please, get a life, like you never uttered a slur in your whole life.

Oh give me a break people. He doesn't need to apologize for anything. Rape is a word. It has more meanings then one. The word rape was there before the act was named raped. That is why it was called rape! You can rape a crop. It is used in place of spoil or destroy.

IM sure it meant nothing - so who cares if he doesnt like photo shoots

appropriate comment considering the aggressive pursuit of the ever present paparazzi

1:41 p.m. is entitled to say how they feel. And the word "Rape" is not a slur. Johnny can say he chose the wrong words but it just proves what an uneducated person he is.

Absofreakinlutly Yeah! How can anybody take a statement made by again ANYBODY, and derive a literal meaning out of an off the cuff line of dialog? If someone said "Hey, you're an asshole!" Can you imagine this person being a 6'2" rectal muscle whose arms and legs vibrate when they pass gas? Imagine what they look like when they are workin' those kegel muscles. Comeon people ...get a grip.!

Johnny Depp live in France. In french, the expression « rape my privacy» is common.

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
