Guys, this singer Hallyday is a big superstar in France. Think of it like he's the biggest thing in ... Texas. Size of the country and significance is about the same.

For those who don't know, France is the place we bailed out in WWII when the Germans ganked their whole country and wouldn't give it back. They used to be like us, and lead the world in science, technology, and art. At that time, everybody used to have to learn French in order to appear educated, just like people learn English now. France's also the place Lance Armstrong visits to totally own the big bike race each year.

I'm going to have to speak up for Americans here.... judging from the 'English' in the above comments, I'm guessing more than a couple people here are from California which is not particularly known for their stellar education or world knowledge. I happen to like Johnny and have a good bit of his music and happen to like it quite a bit. And while some people here can qualify for self-centered and ignorant, I object to all of us being labeled that just as you of French origin do. Only the idiots that live in Hollywood think it's the center of the earth..... and it would probably stand to reason that the reason we've not heard much about Johnny Hallyday here is because the majority of his music is in French and it was not released or promoted here, duh... that being said, there is a good number of us that are aware of his music and that he is a HUGE celebrity superstar in France and think he deserves a good deal more respect that what has been shown here.
