In her latest movie role for Safe Haven alongside Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough plays a survivor of domestic abuse, and now the former Dancing With The Stars dancer is saying she can relate to her character.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Ryan Seacrest's ladylove talks about moving to London at the age of 10 to pursue dance following her parents' divorce. It was in London where she says she was "abused, mentally, physically, everything."
Hough goes on to say:
- "I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer. I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love."
As for how long the abuse went on, Hough adds that it got worse "when I started hitting puberty, when I started becoming a woman and stopped being a little girl."
Safe Haven hits theaters on February 14.
