Justin Bieber Magazine Covers Don't Sell Well
Posted on Tue Jul 5, 2011 09:25 AM PDT
Justin Bieber's popularity -- 10 million Twitter followers, hit songs, a hit movie -- is apparently not carrying over to newsstands.
Vanity Fair's February issue, which featured 17-year-old Bieber on the cover covered in lipstick kisses, is on its way to being the magazine's worst selling issue in 12 years (see the cover after the jump). It's sold only an estimated 246,000 copies.
For comparison, the magazine's August 2010 issue with Angelina Jolie on the cover sold more than 500,000 copies.
Bieber also has meant bad news for other mags -- his October 2010 Teen Vogue cover sold 121,054, which is about 12 percent below the mag's 2010 average. People magazine's April 2010 Bieber cover sold 961,762 copies -- the weekly's third worst seller that year.
The question becomes whether Bieber is the problem, or whether the issue is that the younger generation doesn't buy magazines in general.
Still -- Justin has his ladylove Selena Gomez there to support him, even when he's down! Read where the two were just spotted together after the jump!
Justin and Selena were seen together in the ritzy Hamptons in New York -- a summer hotspot for celebs. They reportedly spent more than $700 at Flying Point Surf and Sports in Bridgehampton, N.Y., according to an eyewitness.
Gomez bought Toms wedges and a dress, and Bieber bought Toms shoes and more. The two called each other "babe" in the store, and then grabbed some ice cream across the street at Candy Kitchen.

what a good news, i have ever heard..
justin bieber is suck!
It's called over saturation thats all it is. obviously a cover with a former oscar winner is gonna sell more copies than one with a flavor of the month teen idol. for example when Joanne Woodward's book is released people mag will ask her to be on the cover and she hasn't been in 36 years and that's back when the mag went up to 5o cents from 40 and was with her late husband Paul Newman. when the magazine now is about 5.00 on the newstand and most teens under a certain age don't work. her issue would probably sell at least double his and all the proceeds would go to charity
My pre-teen and teens don't buy magazines. They consider them a waste of money. They go online. At home they are each allowed to spend 1 hour a day online after everyone is done with their homework. That is where they get the news on the stars they follow. The only computer in the house is in the kitchen and it is mine. Yep only ONE in the house. My kids are smart and have come up with a list of stars each one looks up so there will be no duplicates. They will each get a computer when they leave for college.
Nobody want to waste money on a magazine with a lesbian in a tux on the cover.
Why buy it when i can find the same thing online
Best news of the day! Who wants to see the little homo on adult magazine covers anyways?
His fans aren't readers. Nor do they buy magazines.
Vanity Fair should stick to kissing Celeb and Obama-Butt.
Bieber's fame is starting to vanish.People are getting tired of him and his feminine look.Even a fake talentless girlfriend he hired to pretend he's straight.By 21,his career will be over, but will start going downhill after he completes 18.Look at Miley's case, when she was a minor, she was on gossip sites everyday, but now nobody is interested in her "career" anymore. He will be another forgotten artist that in ten years people will ask:where is he nowadays?
Happens to all teen artists. The 18 number is fatal to them, means the beggining of the end of their careers.
when you add a popular 12 year old on a cover with kisses all over him what goes through ones mind
"wow those r not my kisses and hes aloweing tuns of girls to kiss him? douche -struts away-
i love justine bieber if without you i'm not here in the world
