You might be forgiven for thinking that a resolution put forth by the Tennessee state senate honoring Memphis native Justin Timberlake would be a shoo-in - after all, sourpusses like state Senator Raymond Finney don't come along every day! People.com is reporting that Senator Finney has moved to block the motion praising the local boy for doing good on the grounds that the lyrics to Timberlake's songs frequently run a little inappropriate for the Senator's delicate sensibilities, which strikes us as being COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. I mean, JT might not be Pat Boone - but then again, when was the last time you listened to Pat Boone?
There's also rampant speculation over whether Finney might have taken offense to a distinction going to someone who exposed a nation of innocents to the horrors of one of Janet Jackson's boobs, which would literally make him the last person on the planet to care about that whole mess. Well, maybe him and Pat Boone.

The only reason they didn't allow it is because Ophelia Ford presented it and she's John Ford's sister. If you're from TN, you know all the drama behind the Ford family.

I'm from TN but that doesn't mean I think he deserves to be honored. For what? He was drinking beer during his concert in Memphis (yes, I was there), used profanity, and has publicly admitted to smoking dope. He was recently quoted in Details Mag that he would never say a bad word about anyone - since when?? As he was videoed heard saying, "There's a war going on in Iraq". I would hope our state would not lower the standards to publicly honor someone from TN because he is famous.

The same people that put Justin down for admitting to using pot I'll bet are the same people that will support John Mayer and he actual vaporized pot during his interview with RS and no one said one thing about that, funny how this world has double standards.
Justin is actually working for his CD, releasing singles with videos, his singles are staying on the charts, he's hosting different events as well as touring, yet Justin still get flack.
If he were like Mayer release a crapy CD with 1 video, then sit on his ass and do nearly nothing to promote it yet people flock to his concerts to worship him to death.

There's not alot of people that can make a living and enjoy what they do. Justin has accomplished alot. Performing and creating is hard work (believe it or not). Justin is a very kind hearted person and would help anyone that he can. It's said that most of you can't say anything positive. The reason for his the honor is because tennessee has alot of great all around performer there and since justin was born and raised there and has performed in alot of tennessee's events when he was younger and still does charity events there today, that's why someone thought of the award to present to justin. I think he should recieve the award. He's a very beautiful person.
