Katherine Heigl Not Knocked Out By Knocked Up?

Knocked Up was a surprise smash with audiences this summer - but apparently, one of the film's stars found herself unable to join in on the fun! Katherine Heigl recently took the film to task for being sexist in Vanity Fair, pointing out that "it paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I’m playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you’re portraying women?” Wow, those are some pretty harsh words - hopefully she's able to take the royalties from the DVDs and turn them into something fun! (A spectacular honeymoon, perhaps?)
To be honest, we see the merits of Katherine's arguments - but it's a little hard to focus on issues of representation like those when you're doubled over in laughter!

Well I'm a woman and I thought the movie was funny! She was playing a character who happens to be a certain way. I don't think it is interpreted by many to speak for all women everywhere. She should lighted up a bit. Didn't she say something recently about her Grey's Anatomy character too? What is it with her needing to publicly diss her own work? She has fans. She shouldn't try and act so "keepin' it real" ish. It might get annoying and backfire on her a bit. Just sayin'...
Well, if she was so dissatisfied about portraying that kind of woman then why don't she repay the salary that was paid. Plus she can contact the higher ups and tell them that she do not want any part of the future royalties from the film.

Us non-Hollywood types are so stupid that we think ALL women are exactly like ONE made-up character in a comedy. We're not able to enjoy the nuances of playing stereotypes against each other, because we're so dull witted.
If Katherine continues to do well in her career so she gets her choice of rolls, will she only choose roles whose character she feels is ideal in every way? Or will she choose flawed characters (ya know: human) so that the audience can either learn lessons interwoven into the story, or entertain us with silly but humorous situations? Get off your head out of the clouds.

Knocked up was a TERRIBLE movie.. total gargabe humor, stupid story line, and about two hours too long. Hopefully Katherine will think twice before doing another movie like this one.
