Kelly Osbourne Observes Transgender Day of Remembrance, Apologizes For Recent Remarks

To celebrate the 13th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, GLAAD published a guest blog post written by Kelly Osbourne, in which she apologizes for past remarks and offers support to the LGBT community.
Miss Osbourne was contacted by GLAAD via Twitter, after she used several anti-transgender words during a recent interview with Glamour UK.
After speaking with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender media advocacy organization, Osbourne expressed:
- “As a lifelong LGBT ally and friend, I feel it is my duty to not only apologize for my wrong but to also correct it. The word “tr*nny” is a derogatory and hurtful word. I was completely ignorant to this and soon came to realize most of my peers and LGBT friends are too. This is a word I will no longer use or allow."
Mike Thompson, Acting President of GLAAD, said in a statement about Kelly's blog post: “Kelly is taking the right step by using this as an opportunity to express her support of the transgender community and educate her fans about the hardships that they face for being who they are. We hope she inspires more allies of the LGBT community to speak out and have their own voices heard.”

Well tranny is a short form of transvestite (spl?) so big deal. words are only words.... but looks like it isn't acceptable to use them - I guess we are supposed to use GLAAD or LGBT or WTF! Here's to the 13th transgender day of remembrance - party on dudes and dudettes !! and try to lighten up a bit!
