Those slings try to imitate what peasant women carried their children in. Strap the kid to your back and go to work in the fields. They are good for very young babies because the baby feels close to the mother's heartbeat, as it was in her body. After they get a little older, perhaps they will use some other device for carrying, even hands and arms.

Hence the sling, is better for Mommy to be able to carry him safely & still be close to him. Keri is a VERY small framed woman, River weighs AT LEAST 18 lbs!!
