We loooooved Lady Gaga's new "Bad Romance" music vid earlier today!
We think her outrageous fashion is fresh, her music fun and her singing/writing/piano playing talents impressive... but can she really seriously be compared to Madonna's icon-level status already?
The Material Girl's secret? Always keep reinventing yourself. Will Gaga learn from her idol and stick around for the long haul?

Neither, one is just costumes and the other made a career based on scandals and offencing christians.
Whoever wrote this poll needs to remove the word "original" from the statement, 'Madonna is an original talent and Lady Gaga will soon be forgotten,' since neither one is original.
Madonna especially is guilty of being a second-rate copy cat, as she ripped off (yes, *ripped off*, not "paid homage to") so many other entertainers* over years that it's sad and pathetic.
*(such as but not limited to- Marlene Dietrich, Jean Harlow, Debbie Harry, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe)

Stop with the ridiculous comparisons already! I like GaGa and see potential in her but Madonna is an original artist and the only Queen. She's been a tour d' force for 30 years. She's the most successful female artist of all time, she's had more hit singles then anyone (besides the Beatles) and her last tour was the top grossing by a solo artist EVER. She has dozens of MTV awards, Grammys and is one of the top pop cultural icons of all time (along with the Beatles, Elivs, Monroe and MJ). Pop music, especially for females was completely different before Madonna. She made video a new medium and her brought music and art to another level. Her songs touched on subjects’ people wouldn’t dream singing about then (and some now) like abortion, domestic violence, death, religion, spirituality and most of all sex. W/o Madonna there'd be no GaGa, Britney, Rihanna, Gwen etc. To even compare then is ridiculous. Madonna songs are beyond classic, I like GaGa but she has yet to write a Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Ray of Light, Vogue, Take a Bow, Music, Live to Tell, Hung Up etc. Madonna’s early songs might have come from other people but many of her best (previously mentioned) were by her. Plus Madonna is by far one of the greatest entertainers of all time. She's been the most famous woman in the world since 1984 for God’s sake. GaGa has had a few hits (so have Fergie, Rihanna, Gwen etc) but they aren't compared to icons. I find it ridiculous that people don't call Justin the new MJ b/c the same double standard doesn't exist for males as females. Madonna will be the Queen of Pop forever, simply b/c she was the first and the best. A copy is never as good as the original.

Madonna was a professional dancer, ballet and modern, before she became a pop star. That is grueling, hard work. She had that foundation to sustain her work ethic and keep her going. If Gaga does, then good for her, but it's not easy. Just look at Britney, most of them can't cut it,

New vs Old? I say stick them both together on the next tour , sell tickets starting at 500 a pop and make billions. Be a hell of alot better than watching all the Michael Jackson crapola!

I hate to break it to you, sweety, but those subjects and more were touched upon long before Madonna came on the scene. Break out of your little bubble, and trying listening to music before 1984.
Cher - nobody mentions Cher - in my book Cher really rocked it with outragous stage outfits, powerful voice, nutty persona - she even had her own show in the 70's! - Tina Turner - another woman with a lot of positive sexuality -- Janis Joplin, Kate Bush, Debbie Harry - each generation has had very strong women on equal levels perform to audiences - And bringing back to present day - ever seen Juliette Lewis Live? And Paloma Faith? Lady Gaga is ace but she is not the only one to wear crazy outfits on stage right now!
