Lady GaGa's Father Got Her To Give Up Cocaine

If only Amy Winehouse's dad could do the same thing!
Lady Coca GaGa has revealed that her father saved her from a deadly cocaine addiction several years ago, and since the mini intervention, she has lived a much healthier lifestyle.
GaGa admitted that she used to spend hours snorting cocaine by herself in her New York City apartment, playing songs by The Cure on repeat, according to a recent interview:
- "My father is a really powerful man, a telecom guy. So he looked at me one day and said, 'You’re f*ckin' up, kid.' And I looked at him and thought, 'How does he know that I’m high right now?' And he never said a word about the drugs, not one word. But he said, 'I just wanna tell you that anyone you meet while you’re like this, and any friend that you make in the future while you are with this thing, you will lose.' And we never talked about it again."
GaGa says she began doing coke regularly in 2005 after dropping out of NYU, and at one point she even thought she was going to die:
- “My cocaine soundtrack was The Cure. I loved all their music, but I listened to this one song on repeat while I did bags and bags of cocaine. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with me until my friends came over and said, ‘Are you doing this alone? 'Um, yes. Me and my mirror.' But I was able to stop, because I was panicking more on the drugs than I was sober. So I'm fine now."
In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, GaGa also said she used drugs to drive the inspiration for her eccentric hair and make-up. She said, "It was quite sick. I suppose that’s where the vanity of the album came from."
Good for GaGa for being honest about her substance abuse problems! Perhaps she will reach out to other fellow addicts to help them, like DJ AM planned to do before his drug-related death last month?
Think GaGa will ever relapse? It must be pretty tempting at times...
