Lane Garrison To Get Sprung?

Lane Garrison LGARRISON030807_01.jpg When Lane Garrison was sentenced to forty months behind bars for vehicular manslaughter last year, we thought we'd seen the last of the Prison Break actor - but we might be seeing him a little sooner!

E! Online is reporting that, thanks to credits earned through his good behavior, Garrison may only have to serve twenty months of his sentence - which would let the actor out as early as January!

According to an insider, the actor has spent his months behind bars to date playing basketball, reading, and attempting to write. "He said he reached the darkest depths he could imagine and could barely move his body, let alone write something," the insider told the network. "For the first time now, he has been able to actually see beyond and look into the future."

Of course, Lane's also been doing some serious soul-searching - the same insider claims that Lane "remains very distraught" over the actions which put him in the pokey in the first place. "It is depressing," the source adds, "but he is holding on."

What do you think - has Lane learned his lesson? Or does the punishment not fit the crime?

Lane Garrison's "Out-Of-Body" Prison Experience

Lane Garrison LGARRISON030807_01.jpg Lane Garrison may be locked up - but he won't let that keep him from reaching out!

The imprisoned Prison Break actor wrote a letter to Access Hollywood recently in which he goes on the record about his life behind bars - including what it's like to watch his show go on without him!

“Just this past Monday they let a group of inmates watch the season premiere of Prison Break,” Garrison wrote. "It felt like an out of body experience as I stood around a crowd of tattooed felons watching Michael Scofield try to escape … all of us longing to be free as well!”

"It’s pure irony coming from the show and now living the real deal," he said. "It’s surreal and mind-blowing to say the least.”

Of course, Garrison's real reason for writing was to urge people to learn from the tragic example set by his conviction for vehicular manslaughter.

“This has been the hardest year of my life,” Garrison wrote. “I hope people, young and old, are learning from my mistakes and what can happen when you drink and drive. I have much to say about the pain I’ve felt and seen inside of prison. It has been eye-opening and a harrowing experience.”

Lane Garrison Gets 40 - Months, Not Ounces

Lane Garrison LGARRISON030807_01.jpgLooks like Prison Break fans won't be seeing Lane Garrison anytime soon - People is reporting that the troubled actor has been sentenced to forty months in state prison (in addition to making restitution to his victims' families). The good news - as it were - for Garrison is that the forty months only constitutes half of the maximum sentence he had been facing. Still, that's an awfully long time to spend in prison with your thoughts - and given the contrition Lane's expressed in the past (the article quotes him as saying that the actor is "sickened by my behavior on that night. My thoughts keep coming back to that night."), we're guessing his time'll be extra hard!

Stop, Lane!

As eager as Lane Garrison must have been to leave court after pleading guilty to manslaughter, he might want to play it a little cooler than he did yesterday! We spotted the Prison Break star being driven out of the courthouse garage by his lawyer and noticed his car failing to come to a complete stop at the signs posted by the gate before turning onto the street.

We're sure Lane's lawyer was simply trying to keep his client away from the eye of the press - but at the moment, he might think about trying harder to keep the name "Lane Garrison" from being associated with any traffic violations!

Lane Garrison Faces Charges

Lane Garrison LGARRISON030807_02.jpgLane Garrison's used to being watched by millions of people, but he spent yesterday in court in front of an audience of one - Judge Elden Fox. The day didn't see much legal action - since Garrison failed to enter a plea, the biggest moment came when Judge Fox reduced Garrison's bail to $100,000 and pushed the arraignment date back to April 11 - but don't go thinking Garrison got off easy; after leaving court, Garrison was taken to the Beverly Hills Police Station to be fingerprinted and photographed.

X17 was there as Garrison was escorted by his lawyers back to his car; once again, the actor didn't have any comments to make, but he appeared contrite and heartfelt in the appreciation he sent out to his fans. We'll be on this story as long as it keeps developing, so stay tuned!
