Then again, Lauren Conrad could make a paper bag with spaghetti straps look hot! Well, if it weren't for her negative attitude and constant complaining, but given the fact that she's a reality star, a fashion designer AND a best-selling author, we can't hate on her toooooo much.

And speaking of reality TV, even though Lauren famously left the Hills to pursue more uh, meaningful projects, she's back for another dose of reality -- starting next week!

Last night LC attended the Operation Smile event in Beverly Hills and she told Us mag, "Right now it's like music samples and picking lights. We start in about a week. I'm excited. It's smaller this time, which is really great and most of the people I'm working with are most of my favorite people. It's going to focus on a clothing line I'm doing with two of my best friends, but it's also going to show all the other things that I do as well as the lifestyle."

Lauren Conrad graces the cover of Teen Vogue’s November 2010 issue, and while we love her pretty pictures, she comes off as a bit grumpy and ungrateful in the interview!

On making a name for herself as a designer, LC says, “I’ve sacrificed and worked very hard to get where I am now. So whereas someone just getting out of fashion school may have to struggle for years to have the opportunity to start a clothing line, I’ve been working every single day since I was seventeen toward this. I’m also faced with different challenges. I go into meetings, and people have this preconceived notion of me that I didn’t work hard to get where I am.”

So what about the fame she's gotten from being a reality television star? Lauren complains about photographers, grumbling, "They literally zoom in on your cellulite. It's brutal. I have a beach at home in Laguna that's private, so that’s my bikini time." Lauren continued, "I watch a little reality now, and while I know it's been partially ruined for me because I've been through the process, I think the format has become too beautiful and perfect. It doesn't look or feel real anymore."

How will her new reality show be any different from The Hills? "One of the inspirations for this show is The September Issue. It's going to be filmed more like a documentary ... It’s going to be very different. I’m doing it on my own terms now. I get final editing approval. That was the only way I would agree to do it.”

When asked about leaving The Hills, Lauren said, "I left right before I went crazy," and even weighed in on Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery and Jason Wahler’s decision to join Celebrity Rehab. “They’ve moved on to a different life now," she says. "Being on a show like that is a lot more than people think. You’re thrust into the spotlight. There’s all this pressure to act a certain way. It’s hard to adjust. You have to decide early on whether or not you’re willing to do that.”

Oh Lauren, your life sounds SO difficult.

Breaking news ... Lauren Conrad IS funny! The fashion maven and former Hills hottie recorded this hilarious PSA on FFP's ... also known as Fashion F**k Ups.

Conrad talks about everything from letting your friend walk out the door looking like a wreck, the horrors of jean shorts ... and the "dumb" kitten heel. She says the ONLY person who can pull off this shoe is Suri Cruise. Loves it!

She offers the following advice: "Take off the training shoes and stretch your stuff the way your plastic surgeon intended."

Lauren Conrad, who had a minor case of the crazy eyes last night, was spotted leaving her book signing in NYC sipping on bottled water through a straw. If it was any other starlet, we'd question the contents of the container, but since it's LC, we're 100% sure that's not a vodka tonic in there.

With the success of her clothing line(s) and book series, we have to wonder why camera shy Lauren wants to return to reality TV!

It's official! After leaving The Hills to pursue other projects, Lauren Conrad has confirmed to MTV that she will return to reality television.

The starlet told MTV News that she will star in a new MTV documentary reality program about launching her latest fashion line, and she said in a statement, "I am so excited to be rejoining the MTV family. The new project will follow me as I develop my new contemporary line and also touch on my other businesses."

Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun will be producing the new project, and they told MTV, "We are thrilled to be in business with a terrific young entrepreneur like Lauren. It will be a lot of fun to be exploring her new work adventure with her."

Lauren Conrad may have left The Hills to pursue a career as an author and a fashion designer, but if we're to believe the rumors this morning, the former reality TV starlet will be back on the small screen.

An insider tells Us Weekly that Lauren "is getting her very own reality show -- and that the networks have been fighting over it." Lauren wouldn't confirm the news and her rep has yet to give us a comment, but she told the mag, "The only way I'd return to reality TV would be if it allowed me to decide when the cameras stop."

It sure seems like someone would be willing to give her what she wants, and if the paycheck is as big as what she was making on The Hills (over $100,000 per episode) why not?

LC usually keeps her locks long and wavy, but last night she decided to experiment with a sexy updo. The former Hills hottie snuck out the back of Hollywood hotspot MyStudio with bf Kyle Howard, and not only are we loving her look, but the smile really completes her outfit, don't ya think? How refreshing it is to see her in such a chipper mood!

Because LC was right about him! Funny how Lauren Conrad started off as the victim of a sex tape rumor and now Heidi - who Lauren partially blamed for the public scandal - is the "victim" of her own videotaped shenanigans...
