Shape Editor Apologizes For LeAnn Rimes Cover, Calling It "A Terrible Mistake"

The editor of Shape Magazine, who put "husband-stealer" LeAnn Rimes on the October cover, is apologizing to readers for what she calls "a terrible mistake."

In an e-mail, editor Valerie Latona responded to readers who were upset that the home-wrecker was made out to be the victim in a cover article called "How Working Out Saved Me."

Latona wrote:

"You are all in good company (why I'm emailing you all together) as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover.

Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal – but to show (through her story) how we all are human. And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment.

But it did not come across that way… And for that I'm terribly sorry.

I hope that we can do better the next time for those of you that will give us another chance."

In the article, LeAnn told the mag, "My relationship with Dean was great, but ultimately it wasn't a fulfilling marriage for either of us. We got married so young: I was 19 and he was 21, so as we got older, we grew apart." LeAnn added, "I understand why people are disappointed in me, especially since I grew up as America's sweetheart. I think any relationship is hard to get out of, and I don't think the way I did it was right."

Do YOU think they made a "terrible mistake" by putting a very fit Rimes on the cover?

Hmm...

putting a home wrecker on the front cover, yeah. How working out saved her...more like getting in shape 'coz Eddie's ex wife was a model.

Sounds like the religious right is going crazy again with their phony moralism.

You cannot "steal" a man unless he wants to be stole.

They are treating a grown man like candy that can get stolen.

What are these people, twelve all over again?

Karma, wewe!!!!!

The editor has nothing to apologize for. Rimes is in great shape and that's what the magazine is all about.

her face is fug but she has a banging bod

Posted by: Anonymous

Wewe's pr flaks are at it again.

Photoshop at it's best!

No apologies are needed about the home-wrecker part. You cannot "steal" a man unless he wants to be stole is a true statement. BUT, what they SHOULD be apologizing for is putting someone on the cover that is not in very good shape. She is really sucking in the beer gut.

People get divorced every day because they got married too young and found someone more suitable as they matured.

Religionists needs to get their heads out of the sand.

You can't ostracize and maltreat this young woman while at the same time praising and glorifying other celebrities who cheat and mess up marriages. It's all bad, but everyone should be treated the same.

As far as looks go, she looks exactly in the face like her mother, and her new boyfriend looks exactly like her in the eyes. I think it was an autonomic system response, that they each recognized themselves in the other, as some couples do, and didn't resist the attraction.

I don't care who shape mag puts on the cover. It is of no interest and does not impact their or our lives in any significant way. Much ado about nothing.

They should apologize for putting someone so fug on the cover.

Posted by: Anonymous

Flat-chested, thick-waisted, squinty-eyed ho.

SHAPE is a magazine that deals with personal fitness, not personal morals.

The editor should not have apologized to irrate religious kooks who try to push America back into the 1950s

Posted by: Anonymous

Betcha most of the bitches who were upset about the cover have done worse things in their lives.

Posted by: Anonymous

LeAnn is one of those "religious kooks" herself. So funny that she's outed now.

Posted by: Anonymous

This is a good example why I would never vote for anyone who is overly religious or moralistic.

Not only that, people who point the finger at others almost always have incredibly sinister private lives. It's almost like they're preaching to themselves when they complain about the conduct of others.

@9:45 am - You mean like LeAnn who pretended to be so religious and uppity and preached at her fans? Now the whore's been exposed for the dirty scum she is. LOL

Posted by: Anonymous

Wasn't her first husband gay?
She clearly was too young to recognize the warning signs, so she married him. But you could not expect her to keep on living that way.

Posted by: Anonymous

Eddie's ex was arrested for DUI.

I rest my case.

Posted by: Anonymous

No I don't. Ridiculous. Whatever personal problems Rimes has, it's up to her to sort out and judge herself. And quite frankly, for the editor of the magazine that willingly put her on the cover to now turn around and denounce Rimes as a so-called 'husband stealer' once people start complaining, shows just how little integrity she herself has

Posted by: Anonymous

Transvestite looking wh**re

Posted by: Anonymous

LeAnn didn't have to cheat on Dean and take up with Eddie. Eddie's only with her for her money.

Posted by: Anonymous

LeAnn = Falcor

Posted by: Anonymous

Leann looks like she's squeezing out a fart

Posted by: Anonymous

When she smiles can she see?

Why does everyone insist on calling her a husband-stealer? Angelina Jolie is considered a 'saint' but she is a husband-stealer also and she still gets magazine covers. No one call Angelina a husban-stealer. Get over it people!

Posted by: Anonymous

Her body doesn't look good enough to be on the cover either.

Posted by: Anonymous

I want an apology for having to look at this squinty eyed teenaged boy.

Posted by: no more covers of leann

It was a huge mistake putting trash on the cover but cool that the mag. admitted it.leann called herself americas sweet heart. she was a country singer but in one ones mind was she americas sweet heart. right now she is
straite up trash takeing away a womans husband and kids father. i saw him at

ralphs and he was checking me out. i think he well cheat on her the min he can. there is no way he well ever marry her even for her money! right now he is just with her beacuse he is out of work.

Posted by: Anonymous

I hope Eddie and LeAnn will never breed. Their kids will look like moles.

Posted by: Anonymous

she is not "very fit". she's sucking her stomach in, or at least that's what it looks like. Maybe she would've looked better if she wasn't a home wrecker, but that just makes her disgusting.

Was it inappropriate for Rihanna to record a song with ex Chris Brown?

Yes! With the abuse she suffered at the hands of Chris, this was a bad idea!
No! Chris has already dealt with his anger issues, and the time is right for them to move on.
Who knows? Rihanna certainly does what she wants to do, so she seems fine with it.
I wish they'd get back together!
