Clubs to Blame For Underage Drinking?

LLOHANPARTY052507_16.jpgLindsay Lohan LLOHANCRASH052607_02.jpgSince Lindsay's crash after a night of partying early Saturday morning, Hollywood hotspots have come under attack for allowing minors to frequent their establishments. Lindsay hit up several clubs the night of her early-morning accident (see video), including Les Deux, whose owner fervently denies serving her alcohol and SkyBar. Although Mood is the only club under investigation by the Alcoholic Beverage Control for serving alcohol to minors, stemming from an incident last year, we've seen countless other underage celebrities frequenting the places made more famous by their presence. Now, we're not sure if they're actually serving liquor to these young stars once they're inside, but who should be responsible? The establishments who let these minors past the velvet rope? The parents? Or the stars themselves? Mood is staging a press conference this morning to address these issues of underage partying, celebrity privilege and responsibility. We'll bring that to you later ...

It will be interesting to see if there will be a real crackdown on allowing minors to enter Hollywood clubs stemming from this latest incident, or if it will just be back to business as usual as soon as it blows over?

Oh please...clubs aren't responsible for underage drinkers. They are responsible for SERVING underage drinkers. It's an individual decision to drink or not. Consequences should be dealt to whomever is responsible. These kids are hiding under blaming someone else. It's getting old and sickening for them to never be responsible for their actions. Clubs and retail stores should be busted for selling alcohol to underage drinkers, but they don't pour it down their throats.

Posted by: Raven Moore

/disagree here in texas a club could be held liable for someone's over drinking IF there's been too many instances of disturbances, Now to point the blame on someone would not be the club itself. its the commission that allows the club to operate after soo many instances, I have to say HYDE may be a cause in this but what do u see happening.. these folks are getting into trouble AFTER they leave. who to say someone else in the club is buying the drinks for the celebs to drink? everyone like myself knows there is soo many ways around drinking laws its pitiful. the only thing we can do is sit back and "hope" for someone to die by having an overdose in the clubs bathroom/coke-room. Typical I think HYDE should try and take a stand against this but of coarse when you have celebs at your spot. thats great bussiness and at the end of the day.. the $$$$ talks and the haters/BS walks..

I think that they should shutdown every one of the "celebutante" bars for 1 month and fine them $1 mil for allowing minors into the bars. Hitting them in the pocketbook will definitely make them abide by rule alot stricter.
They're MINORS under 21! what part of not being 21 do you people nit understand? I would forego the publicity to ensure my business stays intact.
If I sell alcohol and people want to avoid the "crowds" I will always survive.

Posted by: Raven Moore

you have to look at it this way, even if you fined them 1 Mil, they'll pull out their 2 mil makin attorneys, and thats something the city couldnt stand to afford to be up in court every single day. which is reason i see this stuff getting out of hand. everyone knows when the city tries to get ya and if you have a damn good attorney that ONLY WINS in lawsuits.. who will t back step 1st..the city. Strange though they have to do all this to get attention. for the money they're worth why not have parties/drink-fest/drug-fest/vomit-after-ya eat fest(nicole richie) at their own house? thats what i'd do instead of being out all the dam time. but hey maybe it is true. some hate the paparatzzi some dont..afterall its YOU guys getting their name around faster than the movies they're in.. keep up the good work..

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
In the real world people loose their jobs and buisnesses get fined and even shut down for selling/serving minors alochol. When someone is under age or intoxicated and they get in a accident the people who serve/sell are the contributers to the problem. When you work for a grocery store or restrunt/club you attend a class about the alochol laws and how serious they are. I belive the special treatment for celebs. needs to stop and these clubs etc. need to suffer the consequenses just like any other place would.

I know this is long but here is California Law... for more information check out www.abc.ca.gov/programs/TRACE.
• During an investigation into accidents and incidents involving alcoholic beverages and underaged
individuals, information may be obtained establishing that alcohol was illegally provided
to a person under 21.
• Under TRACE, investigating officers will pursue a line of questioning to identify where the
alcoholic beverages were purchased or served.
• Investigating officers will be alert to the collection of evidence that may indicate where the
alcoholic beverage was obtained. Such evidence may include false identification, receipts, bags,
labels, matches, and statements of witnesses.
• When an investigating officer identifies an incident where someone may have illegally bought
or been served an alcoholic beverage by an establishment licensed by the California Department
of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), the ABC will be notified as soon as possible so that they
can conduct a simultaneous investigation.
• The ABC will be immediately notified of any death or injury involving under-aged drinking.
• If the ABC determines that a liquor outlet illegally provided alcohol to an individual under 21,
the Department will suspend or revoke the liquor license of that business. ABC is responsible
for licensing and regulating establishments that sell alcoholic beverages in addition to enforcing
laws related to alcoholic beverages in the state.
• The protocol for TRACE was developed by the ABC, California Attorney General’s Office,
Office of Traffic Safety, California Highway Patrol, California Police Chiefs Association,
California State Sheriffs’ Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Lynne Goodwin of
the Tulare County Office of Education.
• For more information about TRACE, contact Judy Matty of ABC at (562) 467-8400.

9:01,
When you work in a buisness that sells/serves alochol it is mandatory you attend classes from liquor board about the laws of serving/selling alochol. These classes stress how serious it is to sell/serve alchol to a minor or somebody that is intoxicated. A buisness will be responsible if they break these laws and somebody gets in an accident. These are laws and are taken very seriously.

Posted by: Anonymous

Anybody who sells/serves alochol anywhere has to take classes from liquor board to learn the laws dealing with alochol. These clubs know they will be held responsible for selling to a minor. They know they will be responsible for an accident if they served the person to much alochol etc. They know it all and should be held responsible.

Posted by: Castra Regina

It appears the ABC will do nothing, and the police will also do no nothing against these establishments...They are "on the take" and give kid glove treatment to celebs and the owners of these clubs.

Posted by: wrong way

alcohol and drugs - that is the problem with these kids. these night spots are so guilty of giving these young celebs everything they want. shut these spots down and put a cop at the entrance of each place. then see who enters the establishment. these kids always get YES to all of their wishes. and this problem will not go away, not for a long time. just ask DREW BARRYMORE. drugs are unfortunately a popular item, just like the fendi bags, go figure.

UGH, IT'S STINKY FEET

Maybe you guys don't understant LA clubs. Clubs invite celebrities, it brings in more people, they make more money, it's a successful business model. Duh.

All the city has to do is not renew their liquor license when it comes up for renewal. Also, have a detective walk through Hyde and Teddy's and start checking ID.

Posted by: Mike

Ok i know this is a serious subject but i can't help it...even though i've seen this video before, only now i've noticed that when Lindsay is leaving the party, just before she enters the car she says:"FUCK THAT GOD DAMN LESBIAN GIRL!!!"So the rumors that she was fighting all night with Samantha Ronson are true!Ohohohoooo...p.s:in my country the limit age for drinking is 18 so to me it seems strange that people are shocked that a 20 years old person was caught drinking (and unfortunatelly driving)but i guess the laws are laws and one should respect them!

Posted by: Raven Moore

UMM mike,
Question to you, DIDNT you know nearly all the "todays" stars are gay! let the truth be known i think its like a prereq are something. Sad i think lindsey is a hot piece but when you see her around "tomboys, girls dressed in guy clothes" that somewhat gives it away. she joined the rosie club along time ago. Sad being gay seems to be the "in" thing in hollywood as weird as it seems but thats just the way it is.

Posted by: Anonymous

This whole industry is sad and somewhat discusting to me. The clubs should be held responsible and I know they arnt gonna be to bothered by it. I just thilk its horrible to contribute to a young adults downward spiral. I know these people in the posh club industry love the attention these young hollywood starlets bring to their buisness but it is disturbing. Its just like a drug addict giving drugs to a under age kid so the drug addict will continue to have a friend. As much as I wish I had some of the wealth and luxuries these celebs. have I think its better off most of us dont because the world would be a place with no morals and values. I know it is already but it would be much worse. So I guess it isnt so bad to be just a normal person with bills to pay and children to raise because it keeps a good head on our shoulders!

Posted by: Castra Regina

Attention Insurance Companies that have these clubs as policy holders... CANCEL their policies!

Posted by: Raven Moore

Hello Castra,
If they cancel the polices, they would either be out of bussiness/money themselves or be forced to raise the premiums on other policy-holders..DUH!

Posted by: Mike

Hi Raven Moore,to be honest even having heard that phrase from Lindsay i still don't think she is a lesbian. It just prooves the obvious-that Samantha Ronson is one and that there could be some kind of sexual tension between the two of them!I think Lindsay is a 100% straight but has probably experimented a little bit just because it is so "IN" to be bi!

Posted by: Anonymous

Raven, they could not operate without Liqulor Liab. coverage so they would have to disclose to a new insurer why they were cancelled. So the cost and deductibles would be higher. So they would have to pay a lot more. Your argument does not make sense.

Posted by: West Coastian

They need to put the ABC invetigators in the clubs for an evening. It would be hard to make any charges against the clubs stick if they don't have evidence that drinks were served to underaged patrons. They can walk out of a club staggering but it doesn't prove anything.

Le Deaux has a menu but one lettuce leaf doesn't constitute dinner. lol

Posted by: loser

Raven moore is retarded and needs to get a life outside of x17 posts.

Posted by: Your mama

Of course the clubs are to blame. These little rich, pampered, skanks aren't responsible for their own actions. If their publicists don't tell them things like they shouldn't be driving because of a suspended license or that 21 is the legal drinking age, it's not their fault.

Posted by: Anonymous

I want to know where the cops are during all this underage celebrity drinking. It's like the law just doesn't care what the celebrities are doing...since they're famous they can do whatever the hell they want?! It's bullshit! There have been pictures floating around for the past three years of Lindsay and other underage celebrities at clubs. What the hell did the cops think they were doing there? Just dancing? Yeah right! It's obvious what goes on at the clubs. Why didn't the law crack down a long time ago? Maybe the bars/clubs in California should be the same as in Wyoming...you CAN'T get in unless you're 21 or over!

The Club is responsible if the knowingly let an underage person into the club. PERIOD, she does not even have to drink. It is illegal for a minor to be in bar. If they sell food and have a liquor License that states that, she can be in the bar but not drink. SO if she drinks, she is responsible. Additonally, had she killed someone not only could she be sued but the establishment and the bartender who served her.

ABC in los angeles does not play around. Once a formal complaint has been issued they have to investigate. The end result is a fine. Second offense double the previous fine, and third offense they pull your liqior license. And since they (ABC) are not issuing any new liquor licsences for the hollywood susnset area that could cost millions.

Posted by: Anonymous

Here is my take- No one under 21 allowed in PERIOD!! There are PLENTY of GREAT celebs to draw people in to the clubs that are of legal drinking age. Illiminate the temptation and it could help a lot of these young kids, I'm not saying that they still aren't going to drink at home or other places, that's a given, but it's not going to be near as much fun and hip as the club scene. Give these kids time to grow-up, the life they are living has got them on fast forward already. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. There is accountability to go all the way around!

HYDE,TEDDY'S,LE DEAUX, ECT,ECT...WE HAD PICS OF L.L.AND OTHER UNDER AGE PARTY BOY'S AND GIRL'S FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS...SO NOW THE ABC AND LAPD ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE UNDER AGE DRINKING IN HOLLYWOOD ??? HA HA WHAT A JOKE !!! AND JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A MENU DOSE NOT MAKE YOU A RESTAURANTS....LE DEAUX YOU DON'T EVEN ASK FOR I.D.'S AND WITH D.J.'S AND BOTTLE TABLES...IT'S NO RESTAURANT...

OK the truth you pay for a table in the vip 2btls at least before you sit down they take your credit card at the door unless you are a regular...so now you can call your freinds and say how you where partying next to lindsay or the oc kids or whatever..so to fix the problem next time you are there..take out yor cell phone take a video of them bien served like when they open the bottle of kristal at the table and the waitress who works for the club pours it to the underage star or when she takes the black cap of the bottle of grey goose(the waitress has the key) then call the police or sell your video to the highest bidder not the club itself that would defeat the purpose...

too young, too much, too soon
again and again and again they feed off people, use them, push them to spin out of control and then disown them

classic hollywood styles

Posted by: Anonymous

I believe that both the kids AND the clubs are responsible here. The kids are responsible, because they're deliberately trying to drink underage; they know it's illegal. The clubs are responsible for making sure underage kids do not enter their premises (once inside, they will be served because it will be assumed they have correct ID; they got inside by showing ID, didn't they?).

Let's be real here; the clubs KNOW that these underage kids are being let in; it's to their advantage to use the kid's for publicity, and to become a "hotspot". C'mon; everyone knows Lindsay Lohan is 20, Hayden Panatierre is 18 and Rumor Willis is 17. These are high profile kids, and everyone knows who they are & what they look like; any club owner who claims "we didn't know" or "we vehemently check ID's" while letting them inside is LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH.

Posted by: Anonymous

this is the same out fit as the knife photo's same night maybe?

Posted by: Anonymous

why drink at all it only makes you do stuff that you wouldn't do anyway, why? your under age if your going to do it, do it at home than some-one can watch you and hopfully can lead you from right to wrong. she needs to go back to rehab and figure her life out before she comes back. she had some real problems and they nedd to be fixed. also the club should ask for ID even though they should of known that lindsay was 20. if the clubs over here got caught sell alcohol they would get a fine and if it was to keep happening the would get shut down.
