In her first theatrical feature film in three years, 24-year-old recently rehabilitated actress Lindsay Lohan sexes her way through Machete as a drug addled webcam star turned gun-toting nun. Not a bad character arc considering LiLo has a mere ten minutes of screen time!
The troubled blonde spoofs herself in the B-movie flick, playing an exaggerated version of her wild child persona... and even goes so far as stripping off her top for a not-so-brief nude scene! But did Lindsay's nudity (her first time baring all for a film, FYI) help lure a crowd to the movie theater?
Despite the fact that many of our readers voted "yes!" when we asked if they wanted to see LiLo go topless in Machete back in January, the action satire came in at number three at the box office opening weekend with only $11.3 million. Not that the underwhelming news soured Lindsay's positive mood, but still! And currently, Machete has risen above Takers and holds the number two B.O. spot. Perhaps LiLo's cheery attitude motivated more ticket buyers?
Regardless, was this too-close-to-reality role the right choice for Lindsay Lohan's career? Or, quite simply, was it a job she just had to take because she wasn't getting offers anywhere else?

Machete = MUST-SEE !!!
Lindsay certainly deserves some credit for the success of this movie. She's taking up all press and there was created a lot of buzz around her performance in it. Machete is a hit film and definitely good for her. A box office and being on the cover of Vanity Fair will re-establish her career.
The cameo was basically a reflection of her messed up life. The daddy issues, the unneeded porn, the love of violence, it's all there.

Whole scenes of gory mayhem are transferred from the ersatz trailer into the movie. The story line now includes subplots and several wacko casting choices, such as Robert De Niro as a rabble-rousing state senator and Steven Seagal as an omnipotent Mexican drug lord. Both employ the worst accents of their careers, but why wouldn't they?
The whole thing is monumentally gruesome and just as monumentally cynical, a riot of grisly cliches designed to titillate and amuse. I'm not sure about the titillation part, but the amusement factor comes and goes.
But by and large, Rodriguez seems more intent on being repulsive than funny. If the idea is to capitalize on exploitative B flicks, consider the job done.
But if the idea is to satirize them, to bring some cutting wit into the mix of blood and race and sex, then its blade is far too dull.

Current probation terms –
