The father of actress Lindsay Lohan told his girlfriend he would kill her and himself if she left him, the Suffolk district attorney's office said Wednesday.
Michael Lohan faces misdemeanor charges of aggravated harassment after Erin Muller, 34, of Medford, filed a police report March 18, saying Lohan told her in a phone call that day "he would kill her and himself if Erin Muller left him," the Suffolk County district attorney's office said.
Lohan surrendered for arrest April 6, according to the district attorney's office.
But Lohan said Wednesday that he hd been trying to help Muller, and she was manipulated by a friend into filing the police report. He would not give more details on the incident.
"I literally did not threaten to kill Erin or myself at any point," Lohan said.
Lohan said that he was accompanying Muller on an unrelated medical appointment and she was not available to comment.
"I think I'll be totally vindicated," Lohan said of the charges.
He also said he was in family court Wednesday to file papers with ex-wife Dina Lohan in a case involving two of their children, Ali and Cody, who live with their mother in Merrick.
Lohan is due back in court June 10. Calls to his lawyer, Anthony Grandinette of Mineola, and to a listed number for Muller were not returned Wednesday.
