You see pages full of fake sites (some of the fake ones have more than 100.000 followers, some 40.000 blahblahblah). when sam tweeted under jackdaniels09 she hasn't got a huge following, but when she changed it to samantharonson and was the first famous one (i know) who tweeted back to random people, she got followed a lot. People want a tweet from a celebrity. And when lindsay get public, sam had almost 400.000 followers.
