I have learned that the 25-year-old actress is in early talks for the female lead in Lifetime's original movie Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, chronicling the enduring love of movie icons Taylor and Richard Burton, whose fiery romance was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of it's day. The film, produced by Larry Thompson (amish Grace) and written by Christopher Monger (Temple Grandin), was originally announced as part as Lifetime's 2011-12 development slate. Lohan, a child actress who successfully transitioned onto young adult roles with Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, has been largely sidelined form her acting career for the past couple of years by stints in rehab, jail, court rooms, and recently a morgue as past of her community service. Lohan's most recent credits include the features Machete and Labor Pains and an arc on ABC's Ugly Betty. LOHAN HAS BEEN COMPARED TO TAYLOR. Kimberly Peirce is in talks to direct Carrie, the remake of Stephen King thriller about the telekinetic teenager who gets pushed too far at the prom and wreaks havoc on her fellow high school students. Peirce is best known for helming another troubled female coming-of-age tragedy. the Hilary Swank-starrer Boys Don't Cry. Carrie was previously turned into the 1976 film that stareed Sissy Spacek, John Travolta and Amy Irving, with Piper Laurie as the repressive mother. The script has been written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, whose rewrite work helped save Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on Broadway. Aguirre-Sacasa set out to write a version of Carrie that is more faithful to the King book, and more grounded than the Brian De Palma-directed film. That kind of grounded material is something Peirce does well. She last directed Stop-Loss and is repped at CAA.

When the remake was first announced last year, Stephen King mentioned to Entertainment Weekly that Lindsay Lohan might be a fun choice to play Carrie. Stephen said "Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White... hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast." Then NextMovie asked Sissy Spacek what she thinks about Lindsay Lohan reprising the role she made famous and she said "I read about it and I was very flattered because they ran a picture of me and of Lindsay Lohan. I was like, 'Oh my God, she's really a beautiful girl' and so I was very flattered. I was also flattered that they were casting someone to look like me instead of the real Carrie described in the book. It's gonna be real interesting." Sissy Spacek was 27 when Carrie came out. Lindsay (25) would be a perfect choice for the role of Carrie. And of course Lindsay is the Queen of successful remakes. The Parent Trap featuring Lindsay was more successful than the original one. Herbie Fully Loaded was a remake, too.

I'm a big fan of Elizabeth Taylor and I understand why the producers come up with Lohan's name. I don't know if she's the right choice, but I understand it. I always have to laugh when people say Liz had "class", something Lohan doesn't have. Liz was one of the best actresses ever, but no, she wasn't exactly what you call a "classy lady". Read a biography and you'll know what I mean. She was a naughty woman, married 8 times (not done back then), was a alcoholic, was addicted to pain pills, went to rehab, was a bit crazy, was a man-eating siren, was a diva on set and the list goes on and one. At a certain time in her life she was most famous for her scandalous life. And yes, she was an oscar winner, but she was also tabloid fodder. So yeah, there are some similarities between Lohan and Taylor. Like I said, I don't know if Lohan is the right choice. Btw I consider Meryl Streep or Audrey Hepburn as "classy" actresses. In a way, I hope Lohan will get the role, because I can't think of another actress playing Liz right now. They should go for it. Maybe this is what Lohan needs.

I once saw photos of LiLo as Elizabeth Taylor (for Interview magazine) and there was a striking resemblance between the two. LiLo had short darker hair. They have the same eyebrows and the same mesmerizing green eyes.
