Britney luver, it's no wonder you "love" Britney. Your morals are completely out of whack. At least her mother is around Lindsay when she does drugs and drinks? Yeah, that is the sign of an outstanding mom! I often wish my own mother would go to strip classes with me and allow me to drink, smoke and do drugs.

it's better so her mother can moderate her. I learned this from my friends parents she lets her drink as long as she's home and cant go anywhere. It's so much better to have parents trust rather than going out with friends who can kill u. I have very high morals and i think Dina is a very good lady. o an im 15 homeschooled :)

britney luver... dear... a parent who encourages alcohol, even if it is "at home" is not a good parent. I've seen teenagers end up as raging alcoholics when this has happened.

Who moderates Dina's intake? If she is impaired, how can she make decent judgements? In my opinion, they are all spiraling out of control....It's like Drew and Jaid Barrymore---the sequel.Maybe Linz can seek wisdom and advice from her $820 gold and diamond encrusted handcuffs....yeah! He is 6'3 and weighs 210 I don't think he is too worried about his 5'4 mom. And I haven't hit him a day in his life... He is a good kid who has his head screwed on right.

it's obvious that she's troubled and most likely has an addictive personality. i don't think her mother is doing everything she can to help her daughter, but i honestly can't tell from where i stand. the situation just doesn't look quite right to me.

that being said, i don't have a problem with parents who monitor (not necessarily encourage) their 17-20 year olds' drinking. i think parents in the US should stop denying the fact that their kids will go out and drink when they're teens, and allow their child to talk to them openly about it. if more parents let their teens drink at home there wouldn't be so many tragic accidents (both driving and alcohol poisoning), and they wouldn't have so much trouble adjusting when going to college. yes, some of them probably will develop alcoholism or move onto worse drugs, but it's not simply because they are drinking with friends when they're teens, it's because they are psychologically or genetically more inclined to develop the disease or because they have addictive personalities. teens in europe who are allowed to drink at much younger ages do not have as many problems with drinking as teens in the USA, and i believe it's because they are open about drinking and willing to monitor their children instead of denying the truth. the kids i've known who have had the hardest time with drugs and alcohol came from strict hard-ass parents who monitored their every move. my parents never encouraged me to drink alcohol (i've never really liked drinking), but they would allow me to drink wine and beer along with dinner when i was 17. sure, i went to some parties and had a few drinks with friends, but i would always call my parents to pick me up instead of driving because i knew that they wouldn't bust my ass for being a little tipsy. they would drive many of my drunk friends home, and urge them to take drinking more seriously. it's unfortunate that so many parents deny the opportunity to have an open, honest relationship with their children as mine did. instead many are just pushing their children to rebel.

anyway. you CAN go too far the other way, and i think dina lohan is a good example of that. allowing DRUNKENNESS and other drug use in the home is not something i'd advocate, and i have a feeling dina allows both. it's sad.

i have a friend who is 15 and her parents sometimes let her drink at home so that she gets all the taboo that leads to temptation to the prohibited out of it. My friend has also told me that she gets to know her reactions when drinking and will therefore know what not to do if she happens to drink outside her house.
I am 16, and i dont drink, not because of a taboo but because i believe that as i am in a growth and development stage in my life, i dont want to harm my neurones. However, if I happen to go to a party and everyone is drinking i dont deny that i may try some, but never to get drunk, as i believe that is not the point. I would control myself.
I will never smoke, as i hate it and i know it then leads to addiction.
I will never get high for the same reasons.
I will drink when i am older, but never to get drunk.
U can drink and not get drunk. It is all about self=control and responsibility.
Just for the record, the drinking age in Germany and Austria for light drinks is 16.
