The Stars Practice Their Waves At The Independent Spirit Awards

Feb 26, 2012 09:09 AM

Michelle Williams Busy Philipps Santa Monica

The Independent Spirit Awards were held Saturday in Santa Monica -- a precursor to the Oscars, but not always a good barometer of who will win Sunday night.

As their name implies, the Indie Awards are focused on "artist-driven filmmaking" and "independent thinkers."

Still, The Artist was the big winner yesterday - taking the prize for Best Feature and Best Actor, for Jean Dujardin. The film has led all the awards events so far, so we imagine Harvey Weinstein and Dujardin are preparing for a win tonight!

Michelle Williams picked up the other big award yesterday, for Best Female Lead in My Week With Marilyn.

The awards were hosted by Seth Rogan, who recently picked up a significant award himself -- the actor was named Stone of the Year by High Times magazine ... congrats, Seth!

Here's a full list of the other winners:

Best Feature – The Artist

Best Male Lead – Jean Dujardin, The Artist

Best Female Lead – Michelle Williams, My Week With Marilyn

Best Supporting Male – Christopher Plummer, Beginners

Best Supporting Female – Shailene Woodley, The Descendants

The Goddesses of Carnage

Mar 23, 2009 03:45 PM

Lucy Liu lucyamerica.jpgLucy Liu, America Ferrara and Amber Tamblyn were just a few of the many celebs who hit the premiere of James Gandolfini's Broadway play, God of Carnage, but these these girls are the ones who made the biggest impression on us for their natural beauty and their stunning over-coats!

What's underneath, however, is a different story, but at least they got it partly right!

Lucy Vs. Mena!

Mar 13, 2009 12:20 PM

Lucy Liu liumenaNYC.jpg

Lucy Liu and Mena Suvari are both fantastic actresses, but what do we think of their fashion choices, hmm?

The ladies attended the USA Network & Vanity Fair launch of the Character Project in NYC last night, and we can't decide which look we like better.

Mena's retro hair and ornate shoes are pretty fierce, but we're absolutely drooling over Lucy's sky high suede pumps. Then there's the issue of the dresses - Mena's one shoulder is sexy, but the color is kinda drab, whereas Lucy's might have a bit too much going on. The fit is fantastic, but the combination of the collar and the color (red and pink do not match!) is just a little bit clownish. Thoughts?

Lucy Liu attended the Alberta Ferretti store opening in West Hollywood last night, and as always, the actress looked fabulous. Though we're still bummed about Cashmere Mafia getting cancelled, at least we get to watch her on Dirty Sexy Money!

Sacre Liu!

Feb 26, 2008 01:30 PM

Although she wasn't crazy about being spotted while on vacation, we still caught Lucy Liu strolling through Paris' famous Palais Royal shopping court with a male companion yesterday afternoon.

It's too bad Lucy gets so camera-shy - we just wanted to know where she got that Angelic white coat!

Paris Lights Up With Stars

Jan 24, 2008 04:49 PM

Where else in the world would you find so many fashion shows? Paris is where it's at! For outrageous outfits, at least. Various stars were in attendance for the festivities (featuring designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier and Valentino) including Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Devon Aoki and, of course, Dita Von Teese.

We're not really feelin' that plaid ensemble Dita was wearing, but the red dress she had on later was gorg!

Stars Slowly Return To Their Natural Habitat

Jan 9, 2008 02:05 PM

With awards shows dropping like flies in light of the writers' strike, stars are seeing their chances to walk the red carpet drying up!

Thankfully, there's always David Letterman's show - since Dave's been back on the air, stars have been lining up to strut their stuff on their way into the Ed Sullivan Theater!

Last night's guests included the Righteous Brothers, author Alex Roy, and Lucy Liu (promoting Darren Starr's new series Cashmere Mafia).

And if you'd like to see more red carpet action, we've also got some footage of Monday's guests arriving available on X17Video.com - including Tom Hanks!
